  • Zenyatta did it again Saturday at Hollywood Park. The undefeated mare scored her 19th consecutive win in the Grade 1 Lady's Secret Stakes, reeling in Switch in deep stretch and winning by a half-length.
The next stop for Zenyatta is the Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs, where the 6-year-old mare is expected to conclude her amazing career.
In the 1 1/16-mile Lady's Secret, Zenyatta ($2.20) took up her customary running position at the back of the five-horse field while Moon de French set the pace.
Jockey Mike Smith guided Zenyatta into striking position five lengths from the lead at the three-eighths pole, and stayed wide through the far turn while moving into third position.
Turning into the stretch, Switch took over, cut for home, and opened up. Zenyatta initially appeared to be in trouble, but she leveled off the final eighth, made the lead with less than 20 yards remaining, and drew away in 1:42.97.

I will be at the breeders cup on nov. the 6th to watch Zenyatta go at it just one last time.. She has meant more to me than I can describe in words here to all Her fans. I will be there and I will be standing shouting at the top of my lungs as She wins Her 20th race beating Lookin at lucky and Haynesfield whom i imagine will be there. *Zenyatta* will win horse of the year this year and will go down as the best filly/mare to ever race. c. Hawkes 11-6-10 God bless Zenyatta!!!!!!!!

This fabulous race-mare just has gear, upon gear, upon gear to draw upon on. She win's with her ears pricked every time. Which means you've yet to really see how fast Zenyatta can actually run. Because when horses are in an all out drive, they pin their ears back. When it comes time for the Classic. There will be a lot colt's in an all out drove in that long Churchill Downs stretch. This mare will pick them all off, and likely win with ears still pricked again!! What a champion Zenyatta is!!

Pay careful attention to when Zenyatta comes off of the last turn. She got completely off of her correct lead. She went about 3 or 4 strides with both front legs out in front of her. Watch as Mike Smith quickly corrects the problem, and still runs down Switch with just under a furlong left. The same Switch that beat Blind Luck in the G2 Hollywood Oaks in June. The same Blind Luck that will likely be the B.C. Ladies Classic favorite. Incredible that she just doesn't know how to lose.

@GBeret83 I didn't see it at first, but now I see what you're talking about. Good catch! Switch is a nice filly with a very impressive turn of foot. The Ladies Classic is shaping up to be an extremely wide-open and very strong race.

Just take a look at what the filly Switch has gone on to accomplish since pushing Zenyatta to kick in the turbo's to run her down in this race. A 2nd place finish in the B.C. F&M Sprint. Then she returns to California to win the G1 La Brae Stakes and the G1 Santa Monica Stakes. For Zenyatta to be able to run down a filly that possesses the incredible turn of foot that Switch does like she did in this race just further franks how great Zenyatta really was. IMO.
