- Chardash by Monti, performed by Lev Weksler on Double Bass. (Arranged for 2 Double basses by Lev Weksler)
This Musical Piece originates from my "Popular Classical Miniatures" collection. I used a 5/8th solo Bass, with an extended fingerboard and high solo Corelli strings.
Oh... my ... god... When I opened this video I was so skeptical, I though "Pfff, come on, Chardash on contrabass? That's impossible! you gotta have fingers of titanium to do it". I've never been so wrong! And the second part! ON ONE STRING! I bet Paganini himself would applaud you - at least his violin was not 30 kg heavy! Lev, you are a true master. Thank you!
Vladimir Kornev Thank you Vladimir. Спасибо! I'm not the only one who is playing this piece on the double bass. There are other beautiful recordings of this music made by Roman Patkolo, Lauren Pierce and others. And you don’t need “to have a titanium fingers” to play this. Now there are light weight metal strings allowing to develop fast playing technique on the double bass.
Paganini also had a disease that made his tendons looser than average, which contributes to how fast one could play.
Vladimir Kornev Czardas is actually standard repertoire for most professional bassists
Ikr
Vladimir Kornev agreed. Strongly agreed
Your left hand technique is quite something to behold specifically the thumbing.
Oh man, I played bass in high school (was gonna continue in college but I had back surgery), and the number of people who don't realize just how versatile a bass is blew ( and continues to blow) my mind. This is incredible. Once I get a steady job I might join an orchestra again, this has totally rekindled my desire to play!
Mary O'Dell 𝚍𝚘 𝚞 𝚙𝚕𝚊𝚢 𝚒𝚝 𝚗𝚘𝚠?
I hope you got to play some bottesini
its been 5 years. did you retry bass?
I really don't see why someone would mark this as fake, I mean, why would he go out of his way to learn the fingerlings for such a hard piece and play them out on camera and then just not make real sound? C'mon now, that just doesn't make sense, it's a genuine video that took effort to make, don't throw out someone's hard work like that.
Exactly! He would just throw paintings or sheet music over it.
he filmed it. and recorded it two different times. what you're seeing is a video, with a seperate audio track dubbed. The reason is simply audio quality.
Greg Prymicz I'm glad that there are people like you, who understand that for a musician the main priority is the quality of the sound recording and to create possible great piece of music, but not an attempt to impress anyone.
Lev Weksler you did an outstanding job and i now have something to accomplish. I want to be just as good as you. I look ip to you. Right now i would say i am a good bass player but still need to improve on so much more. I am about to become a college freshman and i would love to get better throughout the years
You can obviously hear the cuts and edited notes. Its undeniable
You, sir, are the best bassist I have ever seen.
best? :DDD total bad tempo, and slides, and dynamic.
Please watch Edgar Meyer's and Bozo Paradzik's videos,man :)
I agree, only Bozo Paradzik makes me emotions...
@@TothTimea32 Ever heard of rubato? Ever heard of playing with feeling? Ever heard that artists have their own interpretations? Did you bother listening to the full piece? Ever heard that you're an absolute dumbass?
Aryaman Manish Joshi yeah really
Unbelievable! Only 75k views? It should be in the millions. But don't worry sir, people just haven't found you yet. And when they do, you would be regarded as the master because you sir are amazing!
Astounding, this is pure magic, I'm about to cry, please please allow us to listen more of these gorgeous pieces. Thank you so much.
Bravo!!! Amazing and thank you for sharing Mr. Weksler!
Well that was absolutely glorious, I loved every minute. Thank you
Thank you so much Mr Le Weksler, thank you for bring us such amazing and beautiful double bass music.
Beautiful in sound, techniquie (a dance of the hands), superb bowing. Magnificant.
This is truly astounding. I have just found your page and it really makes me excited and uplifted to want to continue double bass. This is not only the best rendition of the piece, but an outstanding reminder of hard work and dedication with a musical instrument can get you.
One of the better performances of Czardas on the bass that I've heard. You're certainly an exceptional bass player.
Omg the harmonics at 3:37. Never heard a bass use those until today
I’ve attempted those harmonics and yeesh they’re hard to get right you have to have amazing skill to play them properly but he’s just casually speeding on through this man is amazinh
I’ve looked more and his bass is special made to play those Corelli strings a 5/8th bass and extended fingerboard amazing
Well, I am a violinist, not a bassist or cellist, but I can certainly see that your bowing technique is very real and very fluid. Vibrato, also real, and very nice technique as well as all the fingering and shifting. So, you have put in your hours and got your reward, a combination of admiration from the sane and bitter jealousy from the usual internet "I need to get a life brigade." You may have, for all I know, patched some of this together using technology. Anyone who doubts that this happens in classical music recording should watch the movie Pianomania and pay particular attention to the recording of the Bach Art of Fugue. The fact that some people seem to feel that nobody should be allowed to play or record classical music if they are not Leonid Kogin or Rostropovich or Arthur Rubinstein is just sort of pathetic. You can guess how far they got with their instrument, so they quit and live vicariously through the top of the top musicians and invest their time in bitter commentary rather than practice. Anyone who puts in huge love and effort and achieves a high level of musicianship is the winner, they get the thrill of felling the music go through them instead of being a mere listener. Bravo!
I stitch together multiple takes of sessions recordings for the perfect result. Unless it's a live concert, it's all about the end result imo. I'd be surprised if Lev had to do much if any cutting from multiple takes, though. He's quite something.
Chuck Berry u mean celloist
U had the time to make this
cool Chanal No, its cellist.
I cellist
Lev I wish I was kidding when I tell you I’ve been watching this video since 2018!! I can’t get enough of it, you are a true master! A salute from this Violinist and Pianist!!
Thank you Aiden!
Made me teary-eyed, superb playing Mr. Weksler.
Brilliant. Love the editing as well as the unbelievable performance. It just shows playing with yourself doesn't have to be a rude thing !
Oh man that is some beautiful music he is playing. Wow I love how it sounds so smooth and so good. I like that it has some type of deep sound. It's so beautiful
Fantastic! I love watching you play.
🤗You can see the passion this man has for music, the way he plays .Amazing performance. God bless u.THANKS
Thank you too!
Such precise playing in the fast sections. I love it!

Taveonna Wood Thank you Taveonna, I am really glad.
Amazing amazing just do not describe enough what is accomplished. Wow.
Omg, that clean sound... PERFECT
Dios mio que bello,, incluso con un toque de locura ! Gracias por compartir su Arte , Maesto!
Very underated song (keep playing these absolutely beautiful songs)
It seems like the recording and the camera are off. Try clapping, then when editing the video, just like up the peaks of the two channels (camera microphone and proper microphone) It will help make it line up more I guess if that's how you would like to call it.
Ryan LeFevre it’s not live, he edits them to sound more professional
I was thinking "why does it sound sometimes like keyboard?" xdd
@@vojtechcermak6801 IT REALLY SOUNDS LIKE A MIDI BASS SOMETIMES DOESN'T IT HOLY CRAP
The thing is that he did two different recordings of this piece however when the audio and live recording is actually played without the edits the coordination between the two audios would be out of sync because the one you see in the video is Lev doing a second recording of the Czardas, which is why it was edited to make sure to sync both recordings together. I mean there could have been a better job in editing it, but he gave it a lot of effort to do, and I respect him for that
Woodland especially for a piece like czardas tho. I believed he played it well it’s just that it was maybe too much edits
Thank you for the music! I really enjoyed it!
Beautiful bravo💕
Amazing technique💓
Awesome piece and an amazing performance.
Beautiful.Just beautiful.
Simplesmente magnífico. Parabéns e obrigado por mostrar esse espetáculo musical.
é fake
I've just listened to this track for the umpteenth time. I doubt that many bassists could play Czardas at this pace and on a single string without ending up in a fracture ward. Lev Weksler is a stunning musician and a very entertaining one. His runs alone are jaw-dropping and his passion and musical depth are a rare experience. It's nice that his twin brother helps out with the right hand! It would be almost scary to hear Lev team up with Vittorio Monti; what a double act. Thank you, Maestro.
WOW!!! Its absolutely awesome!! Thank s, enjoyed very much! :)))
By far... one of the most impressive videos I have ever seen...
I loved every second of that!
+Kirk Beeson Tank you Kirk.
I wish this man was my teacher, I been watching this video for a year and still cant believe that its possible to sound this good.

Run the pizzicato through some midi soft generator and you, have the score. This is super solo
