  • Hungarian Dance #5 by Johannes Brahms.
    Arrangement for Double Bass and Piano by Lev Weksler. Performed by Lev Weksler and Shlomo Leiderman. I believe that we are the first to perform this on Double Bass and Piano.
    This Musical Piece originate from my "Popular Classical Miniatures" collection. I used a 5/8th solo Bass, with an extended fingerboard and high solo Corelli strings.

      I think that it depends on how you train and how your teacher teaches you. I've had bass lessons for 8 years and still practise about 3 hours a day but the training never got me somewhere because my teacher hold me back. So the lessons got waisted. Now I follow lessons from someone else and there is really good process 🙃.

      +Lev Weksler Hello . I play the violin and you have inspired me to learn the double bass as well . I feel sad that quite a few number of people play this beautiful musical instrument . By the way can i know what is the red thing attached to the bridge of your double bass ?

    • @levweksler1819
      @levweksler1819  Před 8 lety +5

      Natasha, thanks a lot for your kind words. On the one hand, I am glad that I have inspired you learning to play the double bass, and on the other, I feel very responsible for your inspiration. Most bass players are combining their love for the bass with a practical benefit, i.e., good paying job in the orchestra (I am not against the art of orchestral performing), but my technique is designed for a solo playing (High solo tuning, extended fingerboard, personally developed technique). Of course, it is possible to combine both, but it would take extra efforts. The red thing attached to the bass is the tuner.

      I think its just a bit of video delay and the microphone cutting out for a split second. The bass doesnt sound weird at all, it actually sounds like a high quality one. It's also evident hes been playing for decades (look at this his hand fingers they r flat cause of callouses and he has wondeful posture). I have played in an orchestra for 9 years, ur ears become tuned to pick up on that stuff pretty quickly.
      Edit: I just read a comment and his reply. He says he uses high solo strings and he had an extended finger board. High solo strings give it a different sound to reach certain notes. So I guess that's why it sounds weird to you guys, but it's nothing abnormal :)
