  • Hi! Today I am sharing my experience with an induced labor with pitocin and no epidural. I had a very positive birth experience and hopefully this will calm the nerves of some of you looking into being induced! I'll take you through the day from when we left home, what my contractions were like, upping the dose of pitocin, breaking my water, and how our first night in the hospital went. Enjoy!

    I’m getting induced tomorrow and I originally wanted a natural birth no meds so I’ve been feeling defeated thinking there’s no way I can do that if I got induced but watching this video helped a lot so thank you for sharing your experience I just hope my experience is as positive as yours. 🙂❤️

      I’ve been induced twice and went naturally with no meds both times. It’s possible love! just make sure to have a good support team who knows what you want and will help you stick to it. if I asked for the epidural my team would ask me if I was sure or offer IV pain meds as an alternative. Both of my labors were great experiences as were my births. Super quick births 💖💖

    I agree they are in such a hurry to break your water prematurely! The water cushions the baby during contractions. I learned a few years back that when the water isn’t there all the contractions are squeezing on the biggest part of the baby - head. Instead of equalizing around the baby to push him out.

    • @ShannonVanFleet
      @ShannonVanFleet  Před 4 lety +3

      Javias Chante’ your water is your cushion so once that is broken it does become very painful. Aside from that, it puts more stress on your baby. So if you are able to progress (dilate) with medication alone, then do that for as long as possible until progress stalls and then break your water. Also, once your water is broken it opens the door to infection and it becomes a race against time because after 24 hours of broken water they will usually take you to csection

    Only reason I’m scared of the epidural is because I hate needles and I already freaked out getting the IV in. I’m at the hospital right now waiting for my cervix to thin out and then I get pitocin. Idk what contractions feel like and I’m scared.

    I’m 40 weeks and my cervix back closed from 1cm. They’re going to induce in a week and it’s not what I hoped for. I’m praying that I can still aim for an unmediated birth but I anticipate induction being long and rough. I’m so glad to know you were induced and made it thru! Gives me hope.

      Rhoda Asante induction was terrible. 12 hours with cooks catheter gave me contractions every 10 min (no sleep even with ambien). Pitocin started at 6am and water broke naturally at 8am. By 11:30 contractions we’re so close and so hard and I was only 4cm so I had to get an epidural. Baby girl came at 8:40pm after 70 minutes of pushing 😪
