    The full-Hybrid version of Kia's Sportage family SUV could just be the pick of the range. Jonathan Crouch drives it.
    Ten Second Review
    On paper, you might wonder whether the HEV full-Hybrid version of Kia's Sportage SUV is the best choice to make from the Sportage line-up. But in practice, this variant proves to be a very efficient real-world all-round choice, with eager performance matched to the usual attributes of the current Sportage - striking looks, practicality and a long warranty.
    Background
    If you're not quite ready yet to plug your car in, then the chances are that you want a Hybrid of some sort. And it's equally likely that you want some sort of SUV. If that needs to be of the mid-sized family-shaped sort, then here's a model that needs to be somewhere on your shopping list; the full-Hybrid HEV version of Kia's Sportage.
    The 'full-Hybrid HEV' terminology's important here because Kia also offers this car in mild hybrid guise (where it's cheaper) and in Plug-in Hybrid form (where it's predictably pricier). All these various flavours of 1.6-litre petrol turbo engine are directly shared with this Kia's Hyundai Motor Group close cousin, the similarly-priced Hyundai Tucson. But this Kia has a very different visual vibe. Is it the family SUV Hybrid for you? You'll need the usual comprehensive Car & Driving Road Test to find out.

    I love the design. In the uk heated seats only on gt line s !! Fuel economy is getting worse. 25 town and 36 motorway Dealership says there's no issues. So I'll change it for a diesel

    In depth but not really in 11 minutes, this video should have been 1 hour long...so many things features missed about the engine, equipment, safety and other.

    seen lots of people complaining about these 2022-2023 kia sportage cars.....their engine faild their 7dct gearbox shaking and needing service in the first year or ownership....is this car plagued with issues?

    • @vasilescuadrian1580
      @vasilescuadrian1580 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thats why they cut down the production for 7dct gearbox and you can find it only on the Plug-in model and for petrol only 6 speed manual or automatic one.

    Why show the previous styled Hyundai Tucson? You should show the new one.
    I had the previous Tucson that you showed in error, it was very good and now I have a 2023 Sportage HEV GTlineS. A great car.
    I always enjoy your reviews especially as I know very well the area you drive around and I miss now I live in the northwest. But please get the info correct.

    Does anyone know what happened to the "4" spec? All the launch videos mention it, but you can't order it now.

      Had this exact question recently, as wanted to get the 4 version. I was told they discontinued it due to parts shortages and the fact that it was so close to the GT Line S. So it's no longer available :( went for the GT Line S instead and currently awaiting delivery in 2024.

    we are considering Sportage 1.6 T-GDi HEV 4WD A6 in that 30th anniversary edition AGAINST .... Honda ZR-V in Advanced edition and I really cant tell which one, pricing here is pretty much the same. we are family of 3. What do you think?

    • @vasilescuadrian1580
      @vasilescuadrian1580 Před 3 měsíci

      ZRV much smaller, no spaces inside to put things, uglier at the exterior, you get less car and specs for the same money...

    Bought the HEV in March 2023. The front passenger seat in one part of it had faded after 3 months. Kia say this is fair wear and will not do anything about it. So much for a 7 year warranty the seats only last 3 Months

      Warranty is irrelevant as sale of goods act will apply in this case.

    Being (South) African I have a fairly good command of the English language however I must say I was taken aback by your usage of the word "feelless"[sic]. I kept thinking could that be a word!!? Couldn't find it in Google's dictionary.
    Nothing turns on it, but if an English-speaking man begins to coin new words, he ought to inform us or warn us,atleast.

    Get the right Tucson, compare it and conclude the Tucson is better looking inside and out.

    I have the gt line version. Dreadful mpg. Returned to kia. Nothing wrong apparently. I'm told it has a 3 CYLINDER 1.6 turbo. No heated seats. No heated mirrors. Sadly I'm going to sell it.

      35-40 mpg on the full hibrid one 1.6 engine 180bhp with electric engines totaling 230bhp doesn't sound that bad does it? how did you get it did't you know what equipment it has? GT line has standard heated seats and mirrors. You seem like a hater and you are lying, clearly you don't know the car and specs.
