I'm not saying *no* Celtic fans are pro-provisional IRA (as opposed to the original IRA, who fought against the Brits, to get 26 counties free from foreign rule, which, incidentally, is what *most* songs are about.). Not all Rangers fans are in the Orange Order, or CofS/CofI/Anglican, or pro UDA/UVF, or in love with the Union & the monarchy.
Supporting the IRA was no different to supporting US independence from UK rule, or Scots supporting Scottish troops who fought the English (Flower of Scotland is a song about defeating English, but nobody wants that banned).
I'm half-Irish, so it's possible to support the UK & think Ireland & the US can be free, if they want.
