- Celtic fans have come under fire for their use of anti-monarchist banners during their champions league game against Shaktar Donetsk.
A banner in the Celtic end was unfurled that read “F**k the Crown” while another one said “Sorry for your loss Michael Fagan”, a reference to the intruder who broke into the Queen’s Buckingham Palace bedroom in 1982.
The away fans also chanted “If you hate the Royal Family, clap your hands” during the game in Warsaw.
Jeremy Kyle criticised the fans for the timing of their protest so soon as the passing of the Queen.
"There's a difference between protesting and putting up disgusting banners and shouting obscenities."

Big assumption conflating Celtic fans with pro-Indy voters, they'll likely be a considerable cross-over but that's not how you worded it. Secondly, there are many other sections of Scottish society that hope for independence, from a huge variety of backgrounds many of which have no interest in football. Lastly, calling the social movement for independence of a nation one person's dream is petty as fuck, it demotes a sincere and ambitious political campaign to the interests of one individual-independence if/when it happens is MUCH bigger than any one person, including the First Minister. It's bigger even than any political party.

As a Glaswegian, I would love to see the end to all this nasty sectarianism. It has been bubbling under the surface for years now and it is getting worse and worse. No good can come of it.
I am always been a Monarchist and will always be. Surely in this day in age, we can recognises our differences and come together.
My mum comes from Caithness in Scotland (near John O Groats) where Sectarianism doesn't exist in Amy shape or form.

Incredible naivety @francesca rose, if not an unwillingness to see/admit the real problem. There is almost zero "religion" involved here in 2022. Virtually nobody whom you are accusing of "sectarianism" either goes to church, nor believes in God. The situation does not "work both ways".... a minority in Scottish society is (or has been) the subject of racism against their Irish (or often perceived Irish) backgrounds. This has manifested itself in discrimination in the field of employment, club memberships, housing allocation, etc over the decades. Nowadays it is a question of identity. Talking about "religion" is utterly deluded. It is Racism. Pure and simple.
