Kids of today will never know how good we had it back during the 70s and 80s. Two timeless decades that were lightning in a bottle. They will never be repeated but we can keep the memories and music.
I was born in 2003 and I love 60s 70s and 80s music and I prefer it over today's garbage. I am an old soul, that's for sure
From the greatest era in American music history-late 70's early 80's-catchy pop songs from people who could play their instruments-this is such a classic radio song Orleans were a very underrated band
Early 70s to late 70s ! Early 80s started the decline, and MTV along with the record companies put the nail in the coffin.
Best song ever! when songs had meaning!
Amen this is the greatest music generation in the world
Only in the 🇺🇸.....the world follows us we are second to none in the best music you can put your ears to....55 yrs old here and greatfull!!🌹🌻🌺🌷🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
Great song, lyrics, vocals, harmony and musicianship. Nuff said.
Rest in peace Larry Hoppen (lead singer)
Beautiful song
Such an underrated song. Brings back memories of a better time. If only we had a time machine...
This is another one of those songs that takes me back to a beautiful young lady named Vicky from my youth who'd I'd still walk through fire for I care that much for her 1979 a great year.
Love these rockin Woodstockers! Lived in Woodstock for 35 years, John Hall is a dear friend!
One of the best songs from the 70's. Thanks.

RIP Larry Hoppen. Such a great late 70’s single!
My favorite Orleans track
My favorite from 79. It's hard to believe that was 42 years ago......
Seems like yesterday. We didn't realize how good we had it then.I was 13 and all was good.
I love this 1979 Orleans hit, which peaked @ #11 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart!
R.I.P., Wells Kelly & Larry Hoppen.
Deserved the highest position..
Ahh...When Musicians were creative and had great voices.
11on the billboard charts speaks for itself .....this music and band need no introduction....it's pure talent.
Whatever happened to music like this?Too many electronics music from The 70s and late 60s will always rule the airwaves. Growing up in that time will never happen to me again to ANY generation. They will never know what we had
2022…..it’s a long way down the road from 1979 and this is still one of my all time favorite songs…..and I so miss the night’s listening to WLS 89.0 A/M Radio…..
I miss this kind of music. Everyone's so busy being "cool"(even in the denial of it) there's no time to care about the music or the lyrics. It's not even that there isn't good, even great music being made today. Just... well, good luck with ever hearing it on the radio.
Best song ever!
this was the best song Orleans ever did what a awesome group they where
A Gem of a song. I loved it back in 1979 and today, with my daughter learning to drive, it was on the radio. :)
Love this! It should have gone to the top of the charts. It's so unique and original.
Best Orleans....one heck of a song!
John Lancaster I agree best song they did what a awesome group they where
I absolutely LOVE this song!!! I was in 7th grade in early 1979 when it was released.

Does anyone know what brand headshell and cartridge that is? I want one and can't see the name on it.
Love this song . Another great song is " i never wanted to love you " ❤
Bueatiful Song!🙂I`ve always respected Orleans but love this song the most.
Cool intro by the radio station and great song! Never delete it I made it a favorite.
I always loved this song. It only reached No. 90 in the charts here in Australia, but deserved better. It's really catchy and a feel good song. Their other two hits were bigger here (Still the one & Dance with me).
Spring of 1979.
How true, love takes time !!!
Axecellent melody and harmonies make this a masterpiece !!!
a awsome song love it love takes time yes its hard to find :)
Nice intro! Very nostalgic. Makes me feel I'm actually listening to it as it was back then!
This song never gets old ❤
that hat groove is epic! perfect recording! pure 70's drum tom sound...
What a great song. Greg Kihn was right. They don't write 'em like that anymore.
I miss these times and great groups like this. Now in my 60's time flew by ..
Wonderful Music...The Best.Music...forever
The first time I heard this song was off the local radio station in Montgomery, Alabama WLSQ-AM 1170. I was in the 9th grade (1978-79) at Montgomery Catholic High School.
Music Mike, this takes me back to when I had the great pleasure of working for one of the best AC stations in the country 55 KOY in Phoenix, AZ. This is a great song by the late Larry Hoppen & Orleans. Thanks for posting this blast from the past.
Love this song!
Great song! I love the radio jingle intro!
I love this song!
I am sorry to hear about his death. What a brilliant talent he was.
I especially like the sweeper right before the song. Nice!
Mike..I have been listening to your music on You Tube for years now and it always brings back memories from my youth. I grew up listening to WLS/Super CFL out of Chicago..the height of AM radio. I have always loved this song from Orleans...spring of 1979...the year i graduated High school..Keep up the GREAT work!
I use to listen to this on 93.9 CKLW in Windsor, Ontario, Canada!
Keep it up!! Great music from my youth...great memories!!
Thanks for posting this. Best of an era.
I wore out our record for this time at a couple radio stations I have worked at because it was so commonly played and requested!
Awesome!
Freeway Driving Music with this Song!
Takes me back to high school years, first boyfriends, fun times. I sure miss it.
haaa tiempos aquellos , de verdad que es bueno recordar y Orleans fue uno de los principales exponentes de estos tiempos, buenisimo
Late 70s to early 80s. THE MAGIC CUSP. Post disco, pre punk. Good times.
Right up there with Smoke from a distant fire, In the heart of the night and Love is the answer.
1979 I was 18 and I loved it then just as much as I do now. Music from the heart is good for the soul.
Lovely...... :)
Gosh! Memories... Love the vibe
played as if it was heard on the boss of the beach! the immitated, but never duplicated hot rockin' flame throwin' WNFI Polatka, Daytona Beach!
I heard it on "American Bandstand"!!!
My sisters Eva & Caroline Brought their children with them to New Jersey. They were staying with my father & his girlfriend. Eva Called me & had me come up
and be with her, Caroline, & the kids. Later Eva called my Uncle Willy and he invited us all to Bayonne NJ where he lived!!! We got to Bayonne and he called his
girlfriend Erica!! My Father and his girlfriend came with us as well. My uncle was THRILLED to see us and well as his girlfriend Erica. All of us then went out to
dinner and during the time we waited we all talked about the days when we were younger. The kids heard that Eva, Caroline & me were Roller-Skating Champions
as well as my sister Nancy & My Mother. The Kids got excited and wanted to see us dance on Roller Skates. I asked Eva & Caroline if the kids had Roller-Skates
& they told me that they are in their car and Eva & Caroline had theirs as well. I told Eva I had my skates in my car!!! My Uncle wanted to take us to Staten Island
but I told him there was a skating rink in Hackensack NJ that was closer!!! My father's girlfriend asked Eva about the fact that Eva never said anything about being
Roller-Skating Champions!!! My Father told them, " You gotta see them in ACTION"!!! "You WON"T believe your EYES"!!!! My Uncle then said to my Father, "You Ain't
LYIN about that"!!! We finished dinner then drove to Hackensack NJ. We got to the rink and all of us went in!!!! My Uncle said, " This rink is BEAUTIFUL"!!! We all sat
down and got ready to skate!!! My sister's daughter Melissa asked Caroline, " Is Allie a good skater'!! Caroline Replied, " WATCH him in ACTION"!!! My Uncle had
a camera bag with him and pulled out a Video Recorder. He told everyone he is going to record us when we BRING the HOUSE DOWN!!!! Eva, Caroline, Their children
& me skated together to warm up and the kids were excited that I could skate real good. Later in the evening the Owner decided to have a skating contest with a prize
of & 5,000.00 which got everyone excited!!! The contest was a family only contest and we were slated to go last!!!! We all watched the other families skate and were
fun to see Then when our turn came this song started and I started to SHAKE & tears were streaming down my face then my Sister Eva saw an INFERNO in my eyes
then everyone got concerned if I was okay. Eva said, " Allie is POWERING UP"!!! Caroline then said, "Now you are going to see all HELL BREAK LOOSE"!!!! The kids
looked at me and asked Eva, " Does this happen every time you guys used to skate'!!! Caroline told her kids, " When it was our turn to skate we had to keep Allie under
control because he can LOSE his mind very QUICKLY"!!!! I turned to Eva & Caroline & told them, " Let's show these people who we ARE"!!! We all got on the floor and
Eva SCREAMED!!! "LEVEL the BUILDING"!!! " NO PRISONERS"!!! I Then SCREAMED "DETONATE" then we "DESTROYED" the skate floor & Everyone else in the building
me, Eva, & Caroline put on a Pro-Skating Show that even "STUNNED" their children!!! I uncorked every move I had!!! I used the "CANNON" and Caroline "SCREAMED "
"Be CAREFUL with my KIDS"" Then I FIRED Caroline & Eva in the air & SPUN around while I caught them"!!! Everyone including my family was "SCREAMING & "FREAK
ING OUT"!!! We got done and WON the contest "HANDS DOWN"!!! "NO CONTEST"!!! The Owner came up to us stunned and SCREAMED, "WHO are YOU PEOPLE"!!!
My Father & Uncle told the Owner we were Roller-Skating & Dance Champions!!! Eva & Caroline hugged and kissed me DEEPLY with tears in their eyes!!! I held Eva &
Caroline's children crying my eyes out!!! I told them, " I had the THRILL of my life skating with you kids and you brought out the LOVE and INTENSITY in me!!!! Then
I held Eva and Caroline & told them , " To skate with you two again was a DREAM come TRUE"!!! " I am sorry MOM & Nancy are not with us"!!! The Owner presented us
the $ 5,000.00 check then told us, " You people sent a "SHOCKWAVE" & brought this rink to it's KNEES"!!!! I saw people having "HEART ATTACKS" watching you people
"ROCK" this RINK!!!!! My Father and his girlfriend held us in tears and said to us, " NO ONE will ever be able to do the thing that you just DID"!!! Then my Father said to me,
" YOU are NOT HUMAN"!!! "You are beyond INSANE"!!! My Uncle & Erica said to us, "We get the THRILL of our LIVES watching you guys put on a show'!!! Eva, Caroline &
I held the kids and asked them how they LIKED our skating'!!!! They all started CRYING their EYES OUT & DEEPLY hugging & KISSIG US"!!!!!!
❤❤❤💋💋💋💞💞💞❣❣❣🌩🌩🌩⚡⚡⚡🌀🌀🌀🔥🔥🔥
DEEPEST LOVE FOR MY FAMILY!!!!
Great tune; and great station. I now live within sight of what was the I-100 Tower off of Espanola, Florida. I listened to the station when stationed at Orlando Naval Training Center, FL back in '82. Enjoyed listening to it a lot.
Y 100 in S FL.
Good song
Mike, you got awesome taste -- Orleans is my 70s guilty pleasure. Got to see them live at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA in the fall of 1976 opening for Melissa Manchester. Talented musicians with albums you could enjoy all the way through. Still have all their LPs...
Masterful submission , Mike.
In memory of Dutchy!
I have to agree, I saw what must have been an especially inspired live performance in KC 1972 I think. The voices were all there and I am not sure I have heard ensemble singing of that caliber since from anyone else.
Good intro.
Great song. All they play today is crap.
Mine was an old Tanner "Music People" jingle pack from the mid-70s, but this was one you wanted out of the news at the top of the hour. Twist those volume knobs! 1979: Their biggest hit after John and Johanna Hall left the group in '77-'78. Infinity also had Rupert Holmes and Spyro Gyra on the roster at the time; the label later folded into MCA.
Still the One and Dance with Me are more well known, but this one ranks right up there also.
Was....Daytona Beach, Florida.
e uma musica linda///
Recuerdos innovidables que. DIOS permita bolber a esos tienpo maravilloso en el tienpo por que ay tanta maldad en el mundo amen
The days of A/M radio......
Ditto to the turn table
This song screams Upstate NY, I don’t know why but this was always played where I was from in Greene County and I was born in 1998.
A lot younger here lol; it was probably played frequently due to John Hall being from Ulster County. He was also a climate activist and ran for office. I think this song definitely does scream Upstate especially on a moon-lit night. I am from a small town in Queens and it’s nice to see our farm in Canajoharie every now and then.
Great song popular here along the Grand Strand
当時二十歳、アメリカンロックのワクチンに打たれっぱなしでしたね。'79年は名曲多かったですね。I was twenty in '79、I always knock down by american rock
WRQK outa Greensboro N.C. played every thing about the 70s
good images/audio....ahhh....one of the many songs on my childhood soundtrack...and i like this with the radio call letters intro! where is/was that station?
California.
TO "THE ONE"
🥰
love takes time, or it only takes a minute girl? (Tavares)
At any rate both dynomite songs !
Nj acapella doowop enthusiasts great it was
I'd go with you!
❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
BTW, where did you get the jingles! you should do some tunes with jingles from Oldies radio stations, i think you did a few with the CKLW jingles, but try doing them with stations that played oldies from when the format got real populars in the mid to late 80's to early 90's. stations like WODS, WKOL, WCBS-FM, KXKL, WKAZ-FM.
the. best. father. adrian
Why is it so hard to get yiutuber reactioners to play this one???Pleeeezzzze reply.
Why can't you get the original version of this song on iTunes or Google music?
+steeden54 I'm thinking the same thing. It's also not available on any of the Hi-Res download sites I use.
The original version recently became available on iTunes in a compilation album called "Yacht Rock". It is track #7 and it can be purchased separately for 99 cents.
itunes.apple.com/us/album/yacht-rock/1233656003
This is also a legitimate release; the copyright notice says "℗ 2017 Warner Music Group - X5 Music Group".
Tribute the beautiful songs are no longer made
Melissa Smith. Holding hands in 1st grade. Actually, I squeezed her forearms. LOL. She was a good sport.
While in the midst of a summer tour with the 2012 incarnation of this band, Larry Hoppen of Orleans was a contestant on the July 24, 2012 episode of Celebrity Bucket Kickers.
Even though i like this song it still kinda sounds like a theme song to a late 70's sitcom.... (like the one used for the show Angie)
" Different Worlds"- Maureen McGovern@
Not, just great, seeing a turntable. Nice, also, to hear an appropriately-paced jingle, on the front end.(I'm a retired radio guy.)
Thanks...from one radio guy to another.
You might enjoy my internet radio station. Go to kvkvi.com
Pardon my tardy reply, MusicMike. I am listening, right now, to kvkvi. It sounds fabulous! Hope you're well, Mike!
Cheers, Don(oh and, did I tune in at the right time; heard a jingle in the first minute!)
