Great watching the videos and also seeing how everyone has the same goals but tackles things differently. You're streets ahead of where im up too but its nice to be able to see what challenges lie ahead and how they are tackled.

Great progress with this. Personally I'm not a fan of black stonechip on the underside of classic Minis as it always looks like your trying to hide problems....in your case clearly not but it's if you come to sell on. Good work though 👍

Definitely an adhesion failure going on there, like you’ve identified. Protecting the underside of a vehicle isn’t as straightforward as people assume and many of the products that work great don’t get on well with each other resulting in reactions and adhesion issues. Other coatings that go on well then just fail because they are too ridged peal off or too soft. Even car manufacturers can’t find the perfect solution. You’re not alone mate I’ve just done mine and I’m not 100% happy by any means. Happy new year anyway buddy 👍

Not sure how I missed your comment before now but I think one factor was I painted black gloss before the stonechip. You can see where it’s reacted and slipped down and showing the primer, solvents in the stonechip paint I assume.

AHH so annoying on the first finish, good effort getting it done yourself. Did you / do people put body colour over this kind of paint, or does it come in colours other than black?

Yeah it’s very frustrating, I was thinking the compressor wasn’t good enough but I tried it anyway. I did get a bigger compressor and gave it another coat after it dried and came out okay.
If you watch where it’s dripping down you can see primer but it all had a layer of black so I’m guessing that was at least part of the problem

Oh and yeah you can paint over it, it does come in grey, white and black
