In this update Mark applies seam sealer to the shell using a very expensive but OEM look Wurth seam sealer gun then paints the underside of the shell with Gravitex plus stonechip in preperation for paint.
Project KITT will be a 1990 1275cc Auto themed on the 80's TV series Knight Rider

It gets me every time how stonechip and paint can transform a shell.
I can see this car being the envy of a lot of Mini owners, great job lads👍
I think it will be pretty unique, never seen a KITT Mini before :)
Lookin good Mark and Keith, £2000 on panel that's surprised me mate , then again like you say £10000 , for a new shell , its a no brainer , cheers Mark
I think it was actually closer to £2200! A pair of Heritage doors is £1000 and even then they come dented and out of shape!
@@classicminiworkshop yes I remember now with the dents , so not to bad then if the doors cost £1000 , getting to the paint , carnt wait to see the paint going on the main body mate ,
Keith, Mark, The shell is looking great & a real credit to your work & attention to detail, Not so 100% sure about the finish with the spray on applicator. I have an air corking gun system but you have to apply it with the nozzle and they can be messy lol. Loving the build! Cheers Dave
Great video looking forward to the next one
I love stone chip, you can be rough as fuck and still look professional 😂😂
Awsome.
Ideal! That gravitex stuff does seem good
There are many views on how to seam seal but to me its up to whoever is doing the job as it is their car. There is no right or wrong like so many things in restorations / rebuilds. Personally I like the sealer that is brushed into all the crevices and leaves a brushed finish. Until robots did the work this was THE factory finish! And I love making a mess ...
Stone chip is brilliant to spray on. You stress over the finish lol. I'll be pulling my hair out when it comes to proper paint
I just came for the calming music..... had to laugh when you said the stone chip gets in the hair..... who's hair were ye talkin about?..... lol.
LOL, good point about the hair :) We sprayed the underside in gloss black last week, I've not had to use hair gel or dye my hair to get rid of the greys all week :)
Looking forward to the next one already...
Can you point me in the rite direction of the inner and out cill kit that you guys used please? I've been on m machine to try and find them but there seems to be a fair few to choose from...
Any chance you could give me the part number from where you got them please...?
Many thanks.
14.33.01.27 & 14.33.01.28 - Sill to 1st grove assy 6 flute - From M Machine. Check it's right for your Mini though as Mk1-3 are different. Give them a call, they are very helpful
@@classicminiworkshop many thanks...
you guys are moving too fast.. I can't possibly remember everything.. awesome
Are you painting the bodyshell as well?
Yes, i am. I sprayed Bolt Last year with Cellulose and came out ok for my first time of spraying a car. Using 2k this time for the first time. 😬
Yes
Really coming along now Keith, where did you get the air gun from, Tony
I got the Seam sealer gun from Wurth.
