    I make this for my husband. I do the slices though because he likes to eat it on sandwiches and pizza. He would love this way as well for the marinade! I will have to do a batch like this !

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  Před rokem +1

      We did the slices initially, but I had to cut them a bit smaller even for Darryl, so then I did them diced the next time and it worked fine, but the mincing just works so much better across so many different uses lol, and all the extra brine means that when its minced it seems to permeate it better! :D

    I'll try this if I ever come across cheap chilli's, or grow our own. We are starting to prepare our beds for spring time. I was thinking of you when I was taking the excess straw, poop and top layer of soil out of the chicken coop! Sorry if that sounds weird! Our soil is crushed granite with a bit of clay in it! It's shiny white in strong sun! In just the 5 months or so that we have been here, the granite looks like soil now. This is what would help your veggie garden. The bonus is that it doesn't cost anything!

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  Před rokem +1

      We definitely have to get better at harvesting the stuff out of our chook pens! We really need a little side by side/quad with a trailer, we don't put the straw thick enough in the chicken beds because of the amount of time it takes and therefore a lot of it just turns to nothing rather than something we can rake up! We're trying to improve it! :D

    • @sharonburling2262
      @sharonburling2262 Před rokem

      Take the top layer of topsoil out of your chicken coops, pig pens etc. Either add it to the garden beds or dilute it with water. You don't just need the straw, it's the top spade full of soil

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  Před rokem

      @@sharonburling2262 there is no loose soil, it just compacts to hard clay, unless we’re really good about deep bedding them :)

    • @sharonburling2262
      @sharonburling2262 Před rokem

      Oh bugger! I'm guessing because of the differences in climate from here and up there

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  Před rokem

      @@sharonburling2262 I think it’s just too dry too much of the time so the ground gets very compacted. I was looking at doing the deep litter with wood chips! But the pens are such a distance as I said lol, it’s a lot of work!

      Yeah, I got them on an aluminium bread tray, they were quite bad, I left them uncovered too early and they discoloured and were splitting, so I had to put the dressings and burn ointment back on them for a few days 24/7 just to moisten them back up, they're all good now though :)

    At least to me it doesn’t matter what order they are in…. I watch them in a mixed up timeframe anyway…it all depends on how much time I have to watch…since I like to watch videos in their entirety…if I don’t I hardly ever go back to them and I’ll never see the whole thing…if I don’t have time shown on the time stamp I usually won’t start them until I do 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️….definitely just me though 😏….. h you really do need a bigger pot 😳😊

    I'm sure I've asked before. Is it spicy? Would the small kids like it? Could I make it with less spicy chilli?

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  Před rokem

      It's not overly spicy, it has heat to it, but not a burn your mouth kind of spice, well if you ate it straight it probably would! You can use any kind of chillies you like with it, so you could use really mild ones, and yes you could definitely reduce the amount of chillies you use, but the way I use it is that its just a drizzle in things, so the sweet heat is lovely if that makes sense ?

    5lbs = 2.26kgs. 😋 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺 & 🐶Omega the Cavalier🐶 PS, where do you get your celery salt? I live in Western Australia. I have tried making my own with 2 parts dried celery leaves to 1 part salt. What would you recommend? Ta again, 🌹Rosie of Oz🇦🇺

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  Před rokem

      I was thinking on the fly the other way round hehe, the 2.2lb per kg, your way is probably easier to remember!
      I got mine from a catering place I think, its a big big jar lol.
      Most celery salt is using the seeds not the leaves with the salt, a bit of a diff flavour, if I was using the leaves I think I'd use prob a higher ratio to the salt, like 3:1 or higher rather than 2:1 because those leaves have lots of fragrance but not a whole lot of flavour I reckon!
