I have the Midea 4 in 1 version of this unit. Other than a few very minor cosmetic differences and the 3 in 1 as opposed to the 4 in 1 Midea, they appear to be exactly the same. In fact, I just ordered this same Danby from Costco. It’s hard to find the Midea, but they appear identical.
I’m very happy with the Midea and it’s amazing at how quiet it is. This Danby appears quiet as well. Keep in mind that when cranked up to max, or with a high fan setting, they are considerably louder. No louder than a window unit though. However, at a low to mid setting, they are much much quieter than a window unit. At least for some of the older window units. I understand that newer ones are quieter as well.
They still are not quite as efficient (in cooling) as a window unit, but the for me, the installation, portability and the fact you don’t have a large thing sitting inside and outside of your window is worth the trade off. They do cool well though.
It’s the inverter technology that really makes a difference on these units. The compressor can ramp up or down depending on the cooling needed, so they can run at a really low wattage and amperage draw. I have mine connected to a watt meter that gives me the projected costs, watt and amp draw as well. You simply plug in your kilowatt hour costs and it takes if from there.
The remote is top notch. Much better than other AC unit remotes, at least that I have seen.
    Cheers.

I JUST got this same model from Costco, yesterday, still in the set-up process, going to be hotter than hell here today and first thing I read is, that it has to stand upright for SIX HOURS [same as a refrigerator], before plugging it in. 🙄😒 DAMN, didn't even think of that, now I really regret not doing this last night!! 😜😬🥵 At least I'll be able to cool it off in here @ dinner time. (ugh, sigh) NOT a hot weather person, whatsoever. 😓

The manual should tell you that the unit requires 20" all around it. You should not have it in the corner for this reason. Also there is too much strain on the exhaust hose at the window, it's very easy to see in the video the stress on the hose.
I'm not trying to be critical, rather I'm trying to help you keep your unit working as many years as possible. Perhaps watching some other install videos could help

Purchased: August 2022 - still works GREAT! czcams.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn I live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment.I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

hi im planning to add a PAC with my current honeywell, but this time i aim with wifi feature so i just can turn it on while im away. im torn between this danby or the media duo same BTU 14000 sacc, same with inverter and dual hose, i saw most of the review with danby is that their tip of the hose got broken or is it just the clips that got broken do you have similar issues with its durabilty? im wondering too which of those two has longer hose coz mine will be installed in vertical position on the window. tia

The unit is designed to use the condensation to help cool the condenser coils. I live in the Houston area where it is VERY humid and have never had to drain the Midea and have had it over a month. The unit runs everyday, throughout the day.
I’m not sure where this gentleman lives, but it sounds like he may have excessive humidity in the interior of his home. If this is the case, you will have to drain the reservoir from time to time. He might want to check why he has so much humidity indoors. Could be from a poor sealing at the window and or other places.
If your home is properly sealed and you have little humidity inside, you should not have to manually drain the reservoir. Unless there is a design difference between the Danby and the Midea, but I do not see that.
