Lively is so underrated. With such height and movement, and an understanding of basketball, he is not a typical center. He can pass, he can box out, he thinks ahead, and he anticipates a lot of moves. Lively is going to be one of the best centers in the league!

Lively was projected to be a top 3 pick in the draft. Mavs were able to get him at the right time. Going to be nice watching a true center blossom in todays NBA.

I'm so sad you didn't mention the fact that OKC drafted Lively this year as the 12th pick and traded him to (ironically) the Mavs for Bertans and the 10th pick Cason Wallace.
Not making the playoffs last season, helped us draft lively. You know lemons and stuff. DLive has been awesome

I just want to say this very random but related point. I heard a discussion earlier this year on the deep 3 podcast about past players that would not be good in todays game. The one I highly disagree with is, dennis rodman. It doesn't matter what era, i believe a skilled offensive rebounder and hustle player is incredibly valuable. Lively is just that, and not even to the degree that rodman was. As luka said, they don't win this series without derrick lively. The mavs are so proud and happy to have him, he was huge.

Honestly I think mavs would struggle more vs wolves height, I think mavs vs nuggets is a better matchup for dallas.
