If you remember, first put it in the fridge to "firm" up. Then open, then slice, then rye bread, a good grainy mustard, thin slice of onion and then sliced corn beef. It was even better when you grilled your sandwich. My father was from England, came through Canada and lived and worked there before coming to the states. What a talented, self made man he was. I miss him. Thank you for the thoughts.

    Our Dearest Mrs. Volfie
That looked beautiful. and your canned french fries looked lovely too.
We used to put a large variety of tinned meats like that, with their own can openers, into 'Welcome Home' gift baskets to the new families that arrived to our overseas military bases. We lived in Guam for the most part. And it would be a start to their own Typhoon Lockers.
    God Bless

MY mom would make potato soup or what she called Corn Willy. It was made with sliced potatoes, diced oniions, a bit of diced celery and cover everything by about 2-3 inches with water and bring to a boil. When the potatoes were done, she would open a can of corned beef, break it up and dump it in the soup, maybe add half a stick of butter and some pepper, no salt because the corned beef was so salty. Sometimes she would take the potato masher and break up the potatoes. Maybe add some fresh chopped parsley depending on if it had sprouted in the garden. She loved her parsley. And the soup was ready to serve in about 20 minutes or so.
Well, fast forward to now. I put a quart jar of dehydrated potato slices, took a baggie of dehydrated celery and onion, and put a can of corned beef in a care package to my daughter. Definitely a pantry-pull meal for our family.

First I make the Puerto Rican staple sauce and then the corned beef with canned or frozen🌽 serve with white rice.
