When I played X in 2013 I randomly stumbled upon Zygarde and since that moment hes still one of my favorite legendaries because of that
Zygarde is one of my favorite from Gen 6 as well!
i remember going into there while i still didnt know about saving before legendary encounters and i almost lost all my pokemon trying to catch him. i got him in a heal ball and i named him pinky haha
It always hits different, when you encounter a legendary without knowing that you could find him there.
I remember when I played Diamond for the first time and I randomly encountered Giratina, without even knowing that he existed. It simply hit different, to encounter satan this way 😄
@@derbaumi_4512 Same but I wasn’t even expecting Giratina to be there, I just realized Spring Path was there now, went exploring and there it was.

@@TerraQuake1 Our Pokémon Messiah has risen.
dude the looker side quest was actually so much fun. i wish i could play it for the first time again
I agree, I really enjoyed doing it!
Bro same!!!
It was my favorite part of the game. I remember feeling so smart back then.
This video came out at the perfect time. This is the only pokémon game I've given up halfway through nuzlocking it 🤣
I got you covered 😂
This is also perfect timing for me since I'm going to get a 3DS for my birthday and my dad has this old version of Pokémon Y
@@lisa-marieowen3596enjoy it! 3DS had such an amazing life span and library, so there is a lot more to play.
What made you give up the nuzlocke?
@@guavasmoothie5516imagine your mega evolved Pokémon die 😔
From what I remember, having played x and y for a combined 5 or so playthrough, the postgame felt like a checklist to me more than the other Pokémon games, even with the Looker side episodes. I thoroughly enjoy gen 6 but when they came right after BW2 which had the PWT, battle subway, battle institute, black tower/white treehollow, pokestar studios, join avenue, abyssal ruins, entralink, all the medals, not to mention the other half of the region or the handful of returning legendaries, it’s hard not to ask is that it.
You also have USUM with Team Rainbow Rocket and the Ultra Warp Ride, and SV with the sidequests with your friends, the Union Circle, the Gym rematches being necessary in order to unlock the school tournament, as well as the Tera Raids and (at least from tomorrow) the start of the DLC in the form of the Teal Mask
Unfortunately, this feels to me like a sad case of “first impressions are everything”. A majority of the postgame feels more like a checklist because, in my opinion, it literally primes our minds to think of it as one in its setup, to the point where once a story truly kicks in, it’s a bit too late to fix that impression.
The entire premise of the postgame is built on this idea that you’re helping Looker set up shop in Kalos to fight unspecified criminal activity. So already, they’ve shot themselves in the foot, because it doesn’t take much for the player to realize this just makes them into an on-call investigator. Go to Looker, get assignment, execute assignment. So that’s their first mistake. But that’s okay; it can easily be overcome with a good story, and since your time at the Bureau decreases as the postgame goes on, it seems that was kinda what they were going for.
But then, they decide to shoot their other foot for good measure, by making the VERY FIRST MISSION one where the player literally completes a checklist in the form of Looker Tickets. Not only is it one of the most basic fetch quests you’ll ever do in a video game, I believe that it also fails to convince the player that they really earned that assistant detective role.
Put both of these things together, and I’m absolutely not surprised that a lot of players thought this was a checklist-y feeling postgame. It sets itself up so badly, that if the emotional beats of the latter half don’t resonate with someone much, it’s likely they’ll come out of it feeling like they just did do a bunch of pointless stuff.
@@magicalhikari5859I mean, having to pay 30 bucks for getting the post game is kinda trash considering we had all that in the base game before. It's like having to pay in G/S/C just to be able to go to Kanto.
To be fair that has always been an unfair comparison, black and white 2 could reuse most of its assets from the original game as its a sequel. As an oppening game for the generation, XY are honestly filled with content, but you can't expect it to be better in that regards than games like Platinum, HGSS and BW2 where most of their development cycle could be spent on content. At the time pokémon Z was still planned to launch in 2015 and would have probably fixed most issues with gen 6.
@@artimist0315 That's not totally true, while they could use some assets from previous games, they had to make all the charater sprites, move animations and pokemon sprites from 0.
here we are, 7 months later and we've got a pokemon Z game
The homelessness side quest with Emma was thoughtful. Looker is a good joe 🙏
I think the thing about the xy post game is that at the time it was a tiny post game, because of how much all the previous pokemon games had in their post games. But with all the games we've had since xy besides a few they've had next to nothing in their post games, which now makes xy's post game look bigger in retrospect.
Thats literally it. Its only "underrated" because the games have progressively gotten worse since then. My first pokemon game was emerald, followed by fire red and then i went back to crystal. Anyone that's played from gen 2-5 is rightfully unimpressed.
@ouchc9564 you couldn't have said it better
Tbh when i was a kid i was scared of the post-game because i thought if i lost a battle my pokemon would get stolen 😂
bro xy is by far the most underrated games of all time in the series. i remember everyone loved these games when they came out and then it became popular to hate on them.
They’ve really grown on me for sure!

the thumbnnail for this video was super nostalgic. definitely a thumbnail design from the era of XY, if that was done on purpose well done.
Haha thanks! This is just the same thumbnail layout that I’ve used for all the videos in this series, so it wasn’t on purpose 😅
You forgot about:
- getting dusk stone from a Team Flare grunt in Laverre City,
- getting back your Pokemon with max. affection and a comet shard from the now-dead man in Anistar City (only if you gave him one of your Pokemon before beating the league)
- unlocking Duke/Duchess and Grand Duke/Duchess ranks in Battle Chateau
- obtaining Gracidea, Reveal Glass, DNA Splicers and Genesect's discs since now you have National Pokedex and access to Friend Safari.
I think what had most people disappointed with XY's post-game was the lack of a new route to explore like in generations 2, 4, and 5.
Oh, so I completely missed the post game because I never even noticed my rival after the Battle Maison
You’re not alone
When I was 12 that looker quest line had me tears, I was so broken. First time I cried over a game
I didnt know this game had a postgame until 2020. Never discovered it in all of my playthroughs. I actually really liked it
If you feel bad about that, I didn't know there was a proper post-game until today.
I’ve played Y more than once and I only played through the post game once
WHAT THE HECK ME TOO??? I didn’t know about that Espurr Post Arc!? No wonder I didn’t know about it when it appeared on Pokemon Evolutions.
it doesn’t. it has a single sidequest and 3 legendaries to catch. it barely qualifies as a postgame
@@PhillyCh3zSt3akthere isn’t
It's upsetting that the switch era has gotten rid of repeatable postgame content (like the battle frontier or world cup) in trade for makinh us pay 30+ extra and online content instead of postgame
That’s blatantly untrue both gen 8 and 9 come with a postgame battle tournament that is repeatable. The only difference is it’s tied into the the actual story of the game
But they literally do. While you may enjoy the battle frontier and world cup more, Sword and Shield have the battle tower and SV has the academy ace tournament. It’s understandable if you still enjoy the postgame of older games more but the dlc isn’t the only postgame content for the Switch era games
@river8803 that's just barebones tho basically a shell of what was the post game in the older gens
You calso do the champion cup again in SwSh
I really am looking forward to the remakes of this game. Feel like they needed a once over and I think seeing these games in the sw/sh style would be perfect. Always got a soft spot for these games despite their flaws
they only needed a third game which only didnt happen because of the 20th anniversary wanting a new gen instead
they’re not gonna remake every game lol. HGSS maybe but i them new games will be coming for the next few years
They need to change A LOT

It was indeed an enjoyable Postgame, made me like Looker so much
Damn I was 11 when I played Y and don't understand why gen 6 gets slandered so hard. I remember around it's release it was hyped up so much and people were saying it was the best game so far.
Meanwhile gen 5 was the opposite. It got bad reception on release but nowadays people realise it was such a good gen.
It’s just so ridiculously easy compared to gen 5 and gen 7
X/Y was my first Pokémon game, and I have hours upon hours of nostalgic love for it. Technically, my first ever experience playing Pokémon was Soul Silver, it was my cousin’s copy and she let me play it while I waited for our family to make dinner. My first ever owned game was Pokémon White2, and I never completed it because my 8 year old brain struggled to understand the basic concepts of training more than your starter.
But my fondest memories were in X/Y, because not only did I actually beat the damn game, but because I understood the lighthearted story better. Never mind the fact that Lysandre was going to commit genocide on the whole world and Team Flare consisted of extreme supremacists. It’s right next to US/UM as my favorite Pokémon games.
I think a big reason why I had a better time with X/Y was the EXP share, which really helped distribute experience through my team.
@@asleepyb0i400yeah that’ll help when you don’t know how to use other Pokémon lol
I absolutely love the Looker missions! I used to save my game right before I started them so I could replay them again after I beat them all. 😅
I thought the episode in generations with Looker and Emma was entirely original, never knew X&Y had that in the game
the Looker quest in XY is why we know that Calem/Serena are at least 17
The looker missions and catching 3 legends are just not enough.
Let’s compare each jump to a new generation
Gen 2 had Kanto
Emerald had the Regis, latios and the battle frontier(which you can sink hours into)
Platinum had a massive new island, another battle frontier, Dialga and Palkia, cresslia and all three birds
ORAS had the delta episode, Soaring for legendaries that you could sink hours into and contest
Black and White had 1/3 of the region left to explore, the hunt for the seven sages, abyssal ruins, etc. BW2 had more than double the great postgame of BW1
Sun and Moon had the Ultra Beast missions, battle tree(which is far more than the battle chateau) along with the Zygarde cell hunt, different champion title defenses and Ultra Had even more
X and Y just has the shortest postgames, aside from Gen 1 but that is the only game that has an actual excuse for no post game
I mean, gen 3 seems to have less than XY? No story content at all, XY also has 3 legendaries, the Battle Maison
i loved the emma story so much as a kid.
I enjoyed it as well!
I feel like I've been taking crazy pills for years while nobody's been talking about the looker sidequest in this game being the most interesting part of the plot
Fr dude
The best part of the game, hands down
Then both my versions of Pokémon x and y glitched when i went to kiloude city for the first time back in 2013. I never had to participate in the battle mansion to be able to battle my rival. I just went up to the pond and accidentally ran into my rival. I still got an absolite and i was still able to go meet professor sycamore in anistar city to get my mega ring upgraded.
Just finished Y for the first time after having it for years, thanks for the fresh content as I've only seen really dated videos for it. Definitely turned out to be a much better game than I thought originally, thanks for this video guide to help with what I'm kinda supposed to be doing cause I swear the dialogue is so cringe in most of this game I usually skip all the dialogue and I'm lost half of the time lol
Haha ya the dialogue can be cringey at times 😂 Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the support!
(Around 10:05) I couldn't help but laugh in I think it was Pokemon Generations, one of the last episodes, they changed it so Emma just punted Mimi across the alley and Looker had to catch her. 😂 It was so sudden
Edit: Also something you forgot to mention, in Zygarde's Cave you can get the 3 Held Items of the Creation Trio and a Big Nugget.
Haha no way! I never saw that episode, wish it was in the game 😂
i played my pokemon Y about 6 times because of how fast the game is, and i have NEVER known that it has a postgame
The amount of this post game that I’ve blocked from my memory is insane
this and the ORAS looker events both really intrigued me
I remember the Looker story. As a kid, i grew emotional over it, but I've only triggered it once and forgot most of it.
i need them to make a Z game for the switch so bad like i LOVED xy
I love the post game of X/Y. I wish we could see more of em
Ya I really enjoyed this one!
I think a big problem with these games is that ORAS came right after them and were just heads and shoulders above X/Y. Every event that X/Y got was also in ORAS and idk if it was just me but it made it so I never had any reason to open X/Y again lol
I love Gen 6 so much
Same, it doesn’t deserve the hate
I mean the Black and White games only got well-liked again because many people were nostalgic for them, so the same could happen for X and Y, and hopefully for Sun and Moon too
@@sharonrizzi14Ehhh, no, the B/W games were liked because people realized that they were good games all around. Nostalgia doesn't change the fact of them having a good story and good challenges.
@@napoleonbuonaparte8975 That’s true, the storytelling wasn’t the best in X and Y but I still love those games a lot, so I may be a little biased 😅
However, the story in Sun and Moon was actually really good though, seriously they are the best modern Pokémon games in my opinion, so hopefully more people will start to realise that too ☺️
@@sharonrizzi14I’d say that sun and moon, and ultra sun and ultra moon are more likely to get the black and white treatment
@@sourlemon1002 I think so too! ☺️😆
It may be because it was the first Pokemon game I played, but X and Y seem to be a forgotten gem.
Playing it just seemed to magical on the new hardware.
Even with its flaws, It was the last decent Pokemon game for me.
It really is underrated
Best postgame ever. Love the looker missions.
Here's to hoping the Gen 6 Remake could break tradition and be a Sequel to the original...
And/Or a Pokemon Legends Zygarde that takes placing during The Great Kalos War with Pokemon Armor (which we see in the AZ Flashback) as the gimmick and maybe have your starter be a Zygarde Core which you make stronger be collecting it's Zygarde Cells around the region ending with collecting the second Core? Revealing "you" and Zygarde are the reason The Ultimate Weapon didn't glass the entire planet or wipe out more Pokemon (there's also that theory Area Zero in Paldea is ground zero where The Ultimate Weapon struct as they are 2 regions connected be landmass as well both were had Great Wars 3,000 years ago, same with the Unova Region according to some artifacts in Gen 5 so maybe it was a three way War but maybe we'll get that in the BW Remake/Threequel or a Legends -Kyurem- Origin Dragon)
I love X and Y. Great gimmick, best anime. Sun and Moon are still my favorite, but I have a soft spot for my favorite region.
I remember the only reason i even put up with these lackluster games was because pokemon bank launched 5 months after the game’s release, and i just really wanted to see what some of my favorite pokemon looked like with their 3d models.
While i did enjoy the game as i was playing it (i was 15 and easy to please) i do remember that half of my playtime was just idling my 3ds with the pss on and waiting for trades or battles.
Looker is not from platinum , in platinum he jsut got his codename Looker, the guy appears since gen 1 in ss anne.
I love Gen 6 with all my heart and play X/Y and OR/AS constantly. These games are no where near perfect and have tons of very valid criticisms but at the end of the day they are just plain fun.
Hot takes
People who say there’s no post games never played the post games
What post game is there to play? All you can do is Catch 2 pokemon, beat a looker side story, and go to the battle masion.
@@piranhalettuceno one ever mentions the battle chateau, with its gym leader and diantha higher level rematches
Picked this game back up for the first time in like 5 years
I mashed through all the text and everything. Ended up beating the elite 4 with chestnaut, xerneas, and pangoro which just knows HMs (And some low level fodder for healing)
This post game was practically made competitive play. Breeding, raising and daily money gains were the thing.
So the legendary birds are in the same position as the legendary beasts from FRLG
"many people have wanted a xy sequel" me watching this video seven months later
I still wish there was more
This game was the first Pokémon game I played properly so it is extremely nostalgic for me.
The looker side quest has always been my favorite pokemon post game in terms of story, I just wish it wasn't entirely locked into Lumiose City. Would've been nice to have a couple of chapter following Looker to other parts of the region.
I personally loved the post game stuff. It felt more fulfilling than most Pokemon games now…
Wow, I didn't even realize this looker quest even exist. Had pokemon x and y for a very long time and didn't know
I allways thought that the sundile was a pokwlemon and i was so disapointed when i found out it was just a big crystal 😢
The post game is sooo good for x and y
It’s wild how much better it is than the main story
The looker story is so good
I haven't forgotten how many pokeballs it took me to catch Zygarde. I think I was literally on my last ball, a premier ball (having used the master ball on Yveltal like a moron) before he was caught.
This was my first Pokémon game, and I had watched a playthrough of the game prior to playing, but I had no idea of the postgame story so I was immersed. One of the first times I played something blind as a kid
I love Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire but I can’t help but find it tragic that 2 out of the 3 years of Gen 6… we were in Hoenn instead of Kalos…
I was not around for 3 or 4 but I guess it probably was similar case where Kanto stole Hoenn’s spotlight and Johto stole Sinnoh’s time… though the anime in Hoenn and Sinnoh would incorporate Pokémon from Kanto and Johto to advertise those games in spite the anime still being in the newer regions (well the anime did go back through Kanto I guess)
This doesn't even include the Battle Chateau, where after ranking up you can fight all the gym leaders and Diantha with higher level pokemon
I love the post game dearly it was very fun :3 the post game story line was so intriguing
oh man cool quests and insides of buildings, imagine having that these days...
Its only 5 legendarys i felt it needed a bit more
Ya I wish they added more that weren’t an event or mystery gift

I have a question does the vm fly works for you I though the vm 2 off my pokemon and I still can’t fly on the map (I got them in my party)
there is also friend safari for shiny pokemon hunting
It’s sad that we don’t have Pokemon Z. But, we, Pokemon fans, can fix this situation. Thanks to fan projects, like mine Pokemon Mega XY(Z). Same could be with Gen 6 games. Thanks to creating a fan game(s), which is make for X/Y same as Emerald for Ruby/Sapphire, and Platinum for Diamond/Pearl. Fix, improve, and expand original games. And this fan game(s) in right hands can achieve a praises in the level of AM2R, remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus.
May or may not have replayed this game arouind 32 times to replay this storyline
legendaries are so fucking foreboding when they fucking tower over you like that
I will say I do not hate these games, and the post game definitely the highlight of the game for me. It just sucks that the game is so easy

Thank you!
A-Z trailer is officially out now
Since the announcement of Legends Z-A, I got a n3ds and started playing Y. I actually really enjoy this generation even if J watched a to of play through years ago. Except for the amount of battles, I have no complaints now that a “sequel” is coming out.
I have no idea how I clocked 999:59 in X. It’s just a fever dream of completing the national dex and shiny hunting
The post game is yet to come
Well boys we got Z
whatt you can get the DNA splicers in this game?? got the game at launch and i never knew that
I had the same reaction! 😂
Ok i remember doing a sidequest with Looker but honestly I don't remember most/any of it besides the ghost girl its been too many years
i loved XY so much. My Chansey was a menace lol
The post game that was there was pretty good like the stuff with looker and how he lost his partner pokemon in the past and serving for the pokemon in the city was fun but the game didn't have enough content post game for me to say it was good.
I love the berry farm of that game, unfortunately my card must of got damages because whenever i try to leave the pokecenter computer my game freezes
I just started replaying X version the other day, and I would absolutely play the berry farm as a standalone game. Definitely my favorite berry obtaining method in the main games I've played.
i think its more like there being so little of a postgame that was everyones gripe

Hard to compete with B/W 2 postgame, especially since the was the most recent main series title before X/Y at the time
“Underrated post-game?”

I mean Gen 5 fans somehow still insist that their game is still underrated to this day. 🤷
I miss the x y games. I don’t care if it’s a sequel, I just wanna play this again.
Is it true that you can actually rebattle mewtwo after killing it because i have this vivid memory of my childhood of me killing it defeating diantha a few more times and then it was back again please dont tell me that this wasnt real
the shocked feeling i had when the woman started speaking Japanese is irreplaceable. like ???? what gives wasn't the game originally in japanese too? in the original did she speak english or french?
