    • @jaretco6423
      @jaretco6423 Před 3 lety +109

      But still. Having to find every Pokemon in an dex just to unlock the postgame is pretty stupid. But un-ironically, yeah. I didn't have much trouble with it. The reason why is because I battled every single trainer because the level scale does get an little bit crazy at the end and gaining experience points and leveling up Pokemons can be an slog. So there's that.

      @jaretco6423 Před 3 lety +16

      Cloud971. I didn't mind the National Dex upgrade in Black & White all that much. Considered since the first game only focus on newer Pokemons and saved the previous ones later down when traveling to the east side of Unova. U don't have to get all of them to unlock the postgame. Unlike Sinnoh. Plus it's not really heavy grinding. Might be. But compared to Gen. 2 & 4, it's nowhere near as as slog as those and gaining experience points & leveling up is faster thanks to the boost experience; us Audino & other items like Lucky Egg and few others for doubling it. So it doesn't bother me. And Black 2 & White 2 mixed the old and newer ones was an nice call.

      Favorite Postgame:Pokémon Sword and Shield and All of the Generation 4 Games because the DLC added more Content and Postgame Areas, more Legendaries to catch, More New NPC, New Areas to Explore in the Postgame such as The Crown Tundra and Many More, and also Pokémon Platinum and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for the same reason, it’s a step up to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl with more content.
      Least favorite: Pokémon X and Y because it’s boring and the only good thing is the Looker Mission, it only features one new city to visit in the postgame and only allows us to catch 3 legendary pokemon in the postgame.

  • @thewhatness
    @thewhatness Před 3 lety +227

    Not only do X & Y's base games feel incomplete in and of themselves, Kalos' postgame feels outright insulting for the sixth generation of a series like Pokémon. The Looker Missions can all be done within about an hour or so, there are parts of the map that are just sectioned off and never elaborated on, and for a region that aims to capitalize on a feeling of grandeur, it sure feels empty and with nothing to do, no one to see.
    Oddly enough, I've clocked more hours in X Version than any other title simply on merit of having so much fun with the competitive meta at the time, but damn, if Kalos isn't starved for things to do and places to explore.

While stuff like Battle Frontier, revisiting Kanto after your quest in Johto, traveling the rest to Pony Island with Battle Tree or traveling to Semi Island was nice, they don't come nearly as close as the amount of contents, side stuff and other activities that is as fun as Black 2 & White 2 postgame has. I'm one of the few who doesn't give an crap about the Battle Frontier ( no offense ). Revisiting Kanto after Johto felt more like an continuation rather than an postgame; which is not an big problem and it is nice to revisited Kanto again. I never feel satisfied after beating johto because it is so short and the pacing is so strange, I only feel like I've played half of a game lol. gens 3-5 main campaign are all nearly twice as long/big as the johto section, so it feels right to me to consider beating kanto part of the main quest in those games. and in GSC kanto was completely gutted anyway so it's like you get 1 short region and half of another region that's basically just a boss rush.

    So I'm 31. I just watched this video to figure out which game I should play on emulator first (cause my main complaint is always lack of endgame content), looked at your username, and realized how frickin cool it is that I'm learning stuff about pokemon from someone [presumably] born in 1998. I used to love teaching my little bro about pokemon, and now decades later, the younger people are teaching me!! Idk, that's just really neat for some reason, I would have never imagined that pokemon would still be a thing (or that people would still be playing the old games so much!) 🤗

    I think you did Emerald a bit wrong. It has a very different kind of post game but I think it has a certain charme, because nothing is explained anywhere, you get to explore so many new things, some of them can technically be accessed before finishing, but the riddles around the regi, finding the 2nd fossil, re-battling different trainers around thd map, catching Kyogre and Groudon etc. were a very enjoyable time for me, especially in times where game solutions were not as readily available as they are now.

    -I have to catch every Pokemon on every route before each gym challenge
    -I personally do not like the galar starters so I traded my LVL 5 shiny torchic to SwSh to replace my starter
    -No dynamaxing/gmaxing
    -I have to max out battle tower before isle of armour
    -I have to complete Pokedex for both galar and isle of armour to continue to the crown tundra
    This made the game a lot more fun

    Only ones I have a problem with in this vid are Hoenn (ORAS) and Alola (USUM). ORAS had, in my opinion, one of the best post-game stories in the Delta Episode and I spent countless hours trying to find all the legendaries. USUM also has an amazing post-game. Sure it might get repetitive if you play it for about 6 months straight but it’s fun nonetheless. The ultra wormholes were an amazing idea for a legendary catching gimmick. Also, I tried so hard to find Guzzlord for so long. I think they need more credit.

    See, adding a bunch of story stuff doesn't really do it for me for a postgame. It can make it more memorable, of course, but things like the SwSh postgame story and the Delta Episode, they all eventually end just like the main story. Even exploring new areas comes to an end. For me, I enjoy those parts, but the thing that makes or breaks a postgame is the replay-ability aspect of it. Battle facilities that I can keep playing or areas like the sports arenas in BW or the gym leader rematches in HGSS add a ton of replayability

    Paldea postgame is a little lacking atm too with just one gym leader rematch and no elite 4 rematches. You can catch the ruin legends and the second bike Pokémon but that’s about it. Again with the DLC…wish they’d just give it all to us at once.
    Legends Arceus was middle of the road. There’s the Volo quest which ends in a battle that’s tough if you aren’t prepared, and the Enamorus quest and a few other legends to catch plus whatever side quests you didn’t already finish. Other than that you’re mostly repeatedly catching Pokémon to fill the dex so you can battle Arceus. You can also rematch noble Pokémon but you don’t really get anything iirc. The daybreak update did help some though, I’ll give them that.
    Bdsp was sad cause they did the DP version with no Platinum additions.

    Hey JPR,
    I just wanted to tell you, how much I like your content.
    A few weeks ago I passed by your channel and got hooked, though I am a fairly mute subscriber; thus this comment.
    You have so much things I like.
    First off your intro and outro: Just Mezase Pokémon x3 But I also really like, how they both fit together.
    Especially in the end, when your avatar is holding his cap in his hand, kind of like saying "so, that's all for now, folks; see ya next time". It's a sweet idea.
    Furthermore I like the content itself. You always dive a bit deeper into the themes, than one would expect. You're also not merely stating the obvious for some quick clicks. Resulting in me hearing something new and interesting, every time I come by.
    Last but not least I like your style and humor. There are some times, where you got some genuine laughs out of me, so that's always a lot of fun.
    So: Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
    Best regards

    The Sevii Island postgame seems to get slept on a lot but people don't realize how hype it was having a sort of mini-Johto region to explore in a chain of islands. Gamefreak basically did the Johto-Kanto postgame of Gen 2 in reverse which was really cool. Not to mention giving Moltres a proper dungeon instead of being shoehorned into Victory Road like it was in Gen 1 and Let's Go.

    XY's postgame is underrated, as the moving story with Looker and Emma is amazing, and really, playing as a detective was fun. So much so I would have expanded upon it for the main game for a hypothetical Z version. Working for Looker while we investigate Team Flare, going to other locations on official business we might have bene locked out of, all while Emma is helping us, all while unknowingly falling under Team Flare's control.
