I Got Up Very Early For This Mtb Ride - Cairngorms At Sunrise

    I had been meaning to do this one for a very long time, but unfortunately it holds snow well into the summer, so I had to wait a good while before I could venture up.
    My main goal was to hit mount Cairn Gorm as I knew that it could be accessed relatively easily by bike. Although once I looked into it a bit more, I decided that going all the way round the next two corries would be a good addition.
    I had went to do this route a week or two earlier, but was faced with a huge amount of people on the hill, which is what made decide to come back and hit it at sunrise.

    The cobbles up to Cairngorm are the one and only time I’ve used “Turbo” in anger but bugger me did I need it. It’s a grand loop. We took the path left before the push up and headed out towards Mcdui…then cut back and joined the ridge down. A lot less pushing but not the same cliff top scenery. Keep it up fella. Love the vids

    That's one of my all time favourite descents. Skills imnprover - I'm a better rider at the bottom than I was at the top
    .
    After decades of only riding hardtail I've just been gifted (yesterday) a somewhat retro but pretty decent Intense full suss. I've had an illness that's kept me off physical activity for more than a year but now maybe turning a corner, fingers crossed. The first proper ride I've planned on the new bike is going to be that descent (probably on the way back from Ben Macdui). I've been thinking about it all year. I love this video. I've watched it several times over already. It's got my positive thoughts motivated, so thanks
    .
    Well done for riding off the summit of Cairngorm. So many loose boulders. The path around the back to Macdui is decently ridable. I've pushed/carried up to the col under Caingorm to the start of it a few times.

    You've touched on it before in other films, but the Access Code and what it permits you to do is a precious and rare thing in this world. MTBers are strictly coralled to bike park settings here in Tasmania (they can be excellent but they're not my bag), and if you suggest right to roam (even in outdoors fora) they either think you're a nut or a communist infiltrator. Keep up with the excellent work for my vicarious enjoyment.

    I hope I get to Cairngorm one day. Looked it up couple of years ago seen some photos looked great. But o Your videos it's even more stunning! Could You tell Andrew, about how long did the climb took? I just wonder roughly how long it could take me on normal bike

    • @McTrailRider
      @McTrailRider  Před 2 lety

      The climb probably only took me about 30 minutes to the first peak. I’d allow 2 hours for a regular bike though.

    What a ride! Could you remind me what bike and suspension your using? That’s nothing short of a huge advert for the rig. You recommend the ride rightly, but only if you’re riding comparable rig with the skills to match. Wow. If the bike brand isn’t a full on sponsor, they should be.

      Thanks Micheal, I’m riding my Pivot Shuttle in this video which is a great bike, but I have no connection with Pivot at all.
      My main bike is a Deviate Highlander and I do get support from them. It’s a very capable rig indeed👍

      @@McTrailRider you always have to watch out for those deviate Highlanders. Historically they’ve often caused trouble. Especially for the English. 🤪

      I really like it, it’s super convenient and it’s always there. They are expensive though and your mpg’s do take a hit though.
