“The guy who killed his wife, or his daughter, idk I can’t remember”
Me, as an avid saw fan, heavy breathing intensifies and internally I’m shouting: HIS SON!!!
I feel you man😂😂😂
Yup
fr !!!! 🤦♀️💀
Same haha
He was feigning disingenuousness
Saw 6 deserves kudos for taking a franchise that had completely run itself into the ground and actually making an entertaining and satisfying saw movie in terms of story, characters and horror/action
I really like Saw vi, for me it feels a lot like an 'Epic Saw' in comparison to the previous 2.
yea i remember 6 being more memorable
@@loslobostotal I remember the blood being about pink 🤣🤣🤣
@@michaelnixon3364 That was the next movie Saw 3d(7)
Yeah 100% it made the saw franchise good again, I think 3D was similar quality it just had weaker characters
I love that saw bit with Dr. Phil and Shaquille O’Neal in scary movie 4
Fun fact they actually used the scary movie bathroom saw set for a scene in one of the real saw movies
Hahaha... “Wrong foot”
Hey Cody!
Greetings from London!
I have to make a request, would you consider doing an in depth review of 'The Thing'?
As I am typing this I am watching 'Brightburn' on good old Netflix, I am completely stuck in the middle, a short but sweet thrill ride or a missed opportunity to make an epic with a great premise?
Still, at least it is not a disappointment like 'The Predator', give me strength. I can handle bad movies but that was soul crushing.
😞.
Hey guys, if you were on a desert Island, you had a choice of one movie to watch, what would you choose from the following? Live or die?
A. The Thing
B. An American werewolf in London
C. Texas Chainsaw massacre
D Jaws
Good luck!
@ScotItaly 198 Just recently got Jaws on 4k, fantastic transfer!
@ScotItaly 198 I recently got Jaws on 4k, absolutely amazing transfer, well worth a purchase!
Saw 2 is my personal favorite but I actually love the whole franchise
You should do a video about your best traps in the franchise
Such a good idea yooooo!!!
I bet money he will soon
@@BloodGuyReviews The only way to teach these kids to be polite is the jigsaw way 🦴
@@netrex9916 what?
I love saw 4 man. I just. Rewatched it recently very analytically. I do believe it’s underrated in the fact that it’s better than Saw 5,6,7,8 and 9. It was the last movie to really feel “Saw”. Each film after that felt disconnected with its multiple plots going on. In 4 it’s a new game, the idea of a second apprentice is cool, and the subplot is directly related to johns life, perfectly wrapping up the franchise and leaving it open to the possibility of Hoffman carrying on his legacy undetected. John won. The series should’ve ended with 3, but so ending it with 4 isn’t bad either thematically.
I agree about saw 4, it’s definitely very underrated and my 4th favorite saw film behind the first 3. However I really love 1-6 the most and kindof wish the franchise ended there. Out of the next three, I think jigsaw is better than 7 and 9 but I’d watch 7 over 9 any day. 1-6 are the best.
@@samd2013 I cannot say the same, a part of the flaws of this franchise is the repeat of certain elements recycled from past entries. Saw 2 did the same thing with John winning and with a new apprentice better to me.
It’s my second favorite in the franchise. Much underrated.
Saw 3D was supposed to be two movies, but due to the box office numbers of Saw VI they only made one, hence why there's a bunch of unanswered questions.
Love 5. It's my favorite. The cat and mouse between Straum and Hoffman. The opening and ending are the best of the franchise.
love it
5 and 7 go back and forth as my least favorite in the series, but yes I agree the ending of 5 is so satisfying. Should've listened to the tape, man.
Facts
@@Andrew_Thannen Straum was so arrogant. His death is one of my favorites
I love SAW 5. Seems like we are a minority.
I’m guessing Saw II will be in the top 2, I’m going to watch Spiral next week!
I just watched saw II on HBO max
@@Braylon1997 oh wow nice, I don’t have HBO MAX ;-;
@@pugz-official6090 you should get it
Saw 2 is my favorite
@@drnkds oh wow nice
I've only ever seen Saw 1&2. You've convinced me to go back and watch 2 again. Awesome
Hey Cody,
Loving your channel, I subscribed a couple of months ago and loving your content! Love your passion dude! Look after your nose 😄👍👌 All the best to you mate!
I think Saw is a very special franchise when it comes to its sequels, and it makes it really hard for me to rank them because of how each sequel retroactively elevates to previous films. Little bits and bobs, plot holes and whatnot, are actually resolved. Obviously the first 3 were great, and yeah it loses a bit of steam after those, but I still really liked them as I went through them.
After I rewatched all of em
1. Spiral 8/10
2. Saw 7.5/10
3. Jigsaw 6.5/10
4. Saw 6 6.5/10
5. Saw 2 6/10
6. Saw 3 5.5/10
7. Saw 4 5/10
8. Saw 5 4/10
9. Saw 3D 3/10
So many people hated Spiral. I actually really liked it a lot!
@@mariahslittlelamb8049 I love Spiral: Saw!!!!!! :)
You’re overrating Spiral
@@rolandocastro9425 wrong buddy just wrong what exactly is bad about it?
@@giovanni6174 You're just wrong.
I hope we get a sequel from Spiral, I’m wanting more from that story. I didn’t want anything after watching Jigsaw
Same! As of right now, depending on what comes in the future, my headcanon is that the apprentice in Jigsaw was promptly caught lol
Watching Jigsaw was almost... I say ALMOST as disappointing as 'The Predator'. What a kick in the head. Play a game? I'd rather play with myself thanks... 😐
They’ve already announced another film was green lit
I felt jigsaw was overall the better and more enjoyable movie
Just reboot. Spiral was terrible.
I'm a hardcore saw fan but other than switching one or two around you're ranking of these is pretty close to my own.
Personally I’d put Saw 5 in the top
Top 3, haven’t rewatch the movies so idk where I put all of them
1: Saw 2
2. Saw
3. Saw 5
This is my ranking for my top ones too.
Cody's Saw Review Series was the equivalent of waiting for Endgame after Infinity War
More like waiting for black widow after spiderman far from home lol
Great list mr Cody leach seeing spiral tomorrow night
1 saw 2
2 saw 3
3 jigsaw
4 saw
5 saw 3D
6 saw 6
7 saw 4
8 saw 5
i watched jigsaw yesterday it wasnt so bad. the 1st 3 are all classic imo and the 7th is by far the worst for me.
@@thebest12700 great options
@@thebest12700 saw 2 was my favourite saw film I saw when jigsaw come out
Saw 3 I don’t get the hate ok Jeff was a dickhead
Jigsaw the first one I saw in cinemas and it looks the most shot well and I really like the trap in this one
Saw really slow and boring but that twisted ending I didn’t see coming
Saw 3D ok I get the hate for this movie but the traps and the kills are great
Saw 6 William death is my favourite kill in the entire franchise
Saw 4 the traps and the death are amazing the bed room trap and the ice trap are in my top 2 trap of all time
Saw 5 really boring and bland no remember kills over then the opening kill the rest are shit
@@liam03talksmovieswaytomuch yea 3 was great and the final one that kept the original story interesting. after that they had to kinda reach to keep it going.4-6 werent terrible but lost the creative story the 1st 3 had. 7 was just horrible lol i saw it in theaters with the 3D and even that was bad lol jigsaw wasnt so bad either. and spiral is average but had me more interested at the very end. looks like there will be a sequel
The original is way too high on your list. It shouldn’t be top 5.
Nice ranking my top 3 are Spiral, Saw 6 and Saw 2
How can anyone have Jigsaw over Saw 4 on their ranking...
He has Spiral in his top 3 that says enough, clearly not a fan of the series
@@giovanni6174 bruh jigsaw is great better than spiral for sure 👌
@@giovanni6174 I'm a die hard fan and spiral is My top 3 aswell. I Saw the first one on back in 2004 and I have been showing up for theaters ever since. My ranking looks like this though:
1 Saw 2
2 Saw
3 Spiral
4 Saw 3
5 Saw 4
6 Saw 6
7 Saw 5
8 Saw 3D
9 Jigsaw
2 is definitely the best
3 -> jigsaw all just kind of blend together in my mind
Same..If I came upon one randomly playing on tv I wouldn't be able to tell if it was Saw 3 or Saw 7 unless I looked it up. All blend together
Excellent freaking job on ranking this franchise Cody. 😃👍 Looking forward to the Hellraiser franchise up next!
i just got into your videos through your saw reviews, and ive been tearing through them lol. i really appreciate your passion for movies and the content you make videos about, it really shows and seeing your production, scripts, and confidence increase throughout them is awesome. i hope you keep making the videos you want to make and i will always look forward to what you have to say! your genuine takes and taste make you stick out from a lot of other reviewers
Your list is pretty accurate and I’m a saw fanatic. Saw 2 was definitely the best overall!!
Great argumentation! Here’s my list:
1. Saw
2. Saw II
3. Saw III
4. Saw V
5. Saw IV
6. Saw VI
7. Saw VII
Haven’t seen Jigsaw or Spiral yet
My hatred for Saw 3D rivals your hatred of Freddy's Dead.
Thankyou man ! Finally someone who agrees 2 is better then 1. Also I have a question as someone who is completely over this franchise should I still give spiral a try ???
Yes you should spiral is one of my favorite movies of all time yes it’s got some issues it’s not the best but the gore and the traps and the story jsut works really well and Chris rocks and Samuel L Jackson kill it they have some issues with character development but the ending is very shocking except the twist and the rest of the movie is just a blast I’d put it before saw 1 honestly bc it’s just very gritty and very disturbing check it out
@@chaysetebay7748 thanks for the response man. I’ll give it a go my favourite of them was definitely 2 but 1 isn’t far behind
@@foshizzle9458 yea for sure but go see spiral it’s bad ass it’s does have issues again but if you can look past it into what it’s actually trying to do it’s does a great job it’s also super gory too so if you like traps it’s got some pretty great ones 1 was good 2 is my favorite but I put spiral before one check it out you won’t regret it
Bro the needle scene in 2 was great. Saw the film when it came out in theatres and that still sticks out to me. Great flick. Not a fan after 3rd installment like you. Great review!
"When you have a final chapter that's supposed to wrap everything up and bring everything full circle, you really shouldn't be wasting time on a guy that we've never met before and don't really give a shit about."
Halloween Ends: 👀
You dissed Princess Bride !!! That makes me angrier than the ranking lol.
Saw is honestly my second favorite horror franchise next to Evil Dead. I binged all 8 Saw films leading up to Spiral in the last two weeks and my ranking stacks up like this:
1. Saw - I can overlook the bad acting and see the horror classic masterpiece it is. I absolutely love it. It had the most effective twist and the most iconic trap: the reverse beartrap. It put the franchise on the map and gave us such an atmospheric and good time. A staple of early 2000s horror and has aged like fine wine for me.
2. Saw 3 - The biggest and most epic in the series. So much happens and unfolds and truly feels like a Jigsaw puzzle slowly coming together to make a bigger picture with minimal to no plotholes. Every moment is important. Its also the goriest of the films.
3. Saw VI - I love it. Its socially relevant and gory. The main guy in the game is a scumbag who manages to be somewhat likeable and pretty compelling by the end. The story is fun and “downright slick” too. (I’m a Hoffman fan soooo)
4. Spiral - also really loved it. Socially relevant, brutal, and badass. This movie had me absolutely giddy in the theater. Especially when Zepp 9 played. Just wish the twist wasn’t so obvious and that one of the traps wasn’t cut out because it creates some continuity issues in the editing.
5. Saw 2 - originally my favorite in the franchise but upon rewatch it really dropped to midtier. The clues are so obvious and the characters are bafflingly idiotic but the twist and traps are pretty great.
6. Saw IV- Its fun. I like “Riggsaw” and the traps and the big twist. I also like what we got of Jigsaw’s backstory a lot. Overall feels like we’re stretching the story here, but whatever. I enjoy it.
7. Saw V - As a fan of Strahm and Hoffman, I enjoyed the hell out of seeing these two have a cat and mouse chase leading to a pretty sick ending. Not much of a twist or an eventful movie though.
8. Jigsaw - Good production value and cinematography with decent enough traps but unfortunately riddled with bland characters and major plotholes that make me scratch my head every rewatch. Jigsaw pioneered 4k TVs in 2003? Sure.
9. Saw 3D - I am actually a big fan of the story and events of the film, but the technical aspects really bog it down. Easily the worst made Saw movie in terms of color correction, cinematography, editing, and writing. I think a fanmade re-edit passion project could honestly save it.
The original shouldn’t even be in the top 5 saw movies in my opinion.
Just binged the entire series! Here's my order, after the first watch...
1. Saw
2. Saw II
3. Saw VI
4. Saw 3D: The Final Chapter
5. Saw III
6. Saw V
7. Saw IV
8. Jigsaw
9. Spiral: From the Book of Saw

Saw 5 is my favorite
I love all 9 saw movies in the franchise and Saw II is my favorite movie in the franchise.
Exactly the same ranking as me! I was actually guessing along as to what my list would be and I got 9 for 9 with you!
I love this franchise so much and of the best things about this community is that we all have different thoughts

9. Saw IV
8. Saw 3D

4. Saw VI
3. Saw II
2. Saw
1. Saw III
9. Saw 3D: The Final Chapter
8. Jigsaw
7. Saw V
6. Saw VI
5. Spiral: from the Book of Saw
4. Saw III
3. Saw
2. Saw II
1. Saw IV
*FUCKING* *FINALLY*
Thank you, kind sir.
Gaaaaaah. I was worried you’d place 1 and 2 where you did. I’d swap them, but I still love ya, bro
You are exactly in line with me, besides the fact I haven't seen Spiral yet.
My Favorite Films Saw, Saw 3, Saw 4, Saw 6, And Saw 7
1) Saw II, improved upon the first one and was a solid sequel that entertained me and I loved Eric Mathews. Also had the biggest twist !!
2) Saw , changed the horror genre and was daring. Most memorable from my past.
3) Saw III , I like how it perfectly aligns with the previous two films. In all honesty would’ve ended the series perfectly.
4) Saw V, I like they took and uninteresting character and made him interesting. I really began to understand Hoffman’s motivations. He’d be a better character is trap motives were more fluid throughout the series.
5) Spiral , the predictability and editing style ruined it aswell as false marketing.
6) Saw IV , I really dig the story and how it chooses to connect to the mainstream timeline. A few scenes just feel off “though”.
7) Jigsaw , I don’t think it really offered anything we haven’t seen .. sure the production was nice but it lacked gore.
8) Saw VI, took the franchise and turned it into a slasher ? I understand some people prefer that but it’s now become so unrealistic and the color grading / editing feels a lot more cheap.
9) Saw The Final Chapter , rushed & lazy !
Thanks for the content , I really appreciate it , I have really bad mental health and having your vids at the end of the day helps me through my Ruth time
saw 3d is actually pretty good i fw it
Congrats on wrapping up the series Cody!
Saw is the movie that helped me get into horror and watching horror franchises but i get your opinion cody great video
I agree 5 is the weakest. Took me 3 watches to kinda enjoy it. Original is a top 10 film for me (i know i know) love 2 and 3 and 4 are fun doinle feature and 6 is a cult favorite in this franchise. keep up the great work cody
The first one isn’t even top 5 for me.
Good list!
Good point on how Spiral does feel socially relevant but it’s not over the top; it’s ironic it got delayed due to COVID and during the time it was delayed, the message about police corruption is going to be more relevant to people
I agree I feel like the police corruption message will piss off a lot of people unfortunately, but good for that movie for doing it!!
I enjoy the first one enough, but when I re-visit it, I find more things to dislike about it, while I've always enjoyed Saw II more. The scenes between Donnie Wahlberg and Tobin Bell are really well done, and the twist really works.
‘Saw’ movies ranked (my opinion)
1. Saw III (2006)
2. Saw (2004)
3. Saw VI (2009)
4. Saw II (2005)
5. Saw V (2008)
6. Saw IV (2007
7. Jigsaw (2017)
8. Saw VII: The Final Chapter (2010)
I’m my opinion: Saw VI and Saw III are the two most goriest movies in the series. In my opinion Saw III was the best one. The traps were so sadistic and brutal. The actor who played: Timothy Young did a PHENOMENAL job of acting as he was trapped in the ‘Rack Trap.’ The story was pretty simple and easy to follow. Plus, the way it ended was Perfect. 👌 They really didn’t need to make the series a full franchise. It could’ve ended there and more people would look back on the Saw series as this trilogy. But still. It’s just the one I watched the most out of all of them.
GREAT RANKING CODY!! Love this ranking, agree with you substantially about SAW 2, Spiral, & Saw 3D!!
Spot on!
I agree 100% with this list. Spiral surprised me a lot and I think Chris Rock nailed it for a first time at this series.
Saw 2 is also my favorite and it was the first Saw film I watched while I was in 8th grade. Something about the atmosphere, the characters, Donnie Wahlberg ;), all of it works for me. I haven't seen Spiral yet; Jigsaw was sadly forgettable to me. Although some of the lesser films drag the franchise down, I still enjoyed watching them with friends and family. ♡♡
@@edgardoMurnia I finally watched it. But it's been a while. I wasn't too impressed. Really want someone to get their hands on this franchise and reboot it at a higher quality that it deserves 😭
Saw 5 is probably in my top 5 but still not a bad list
My Favorite Torture Franchises Saw, The Collector, And The Collection
Jigsaw is hella lot underrated
My raking of the films based on my personal recommendations:
SAW: Buy it 4.5/5
SAW II: stream it 4.25/5
SAW III: stream it 4/5
SAW IV: stream it 3.75/5
SAW V: stream it 3.25/5
SAW VI: stream it 4/5
SAW 3D: #$%! This movie 1.25/5
Jigsaw: skip it 1.75/5
Spiral: stream it 4.25/5
My ranking:
1. Saw 3
2. Saw 2
3. (tie) Saw 1 & Saw 6
4. Jigsaw
5. Saw 4
6. Saw 5
7. Saw 7
8. Spiral
Honestly, wherever this franchise goes next, I'm in it for the long haul. Saw is something I love and want to support. ❤😀
Saw II has always been my favorite! When I was a kid I flipped to it on tv (not knowing what it was) and needed to throw up...good times
The one scene that threw spiral away was showing Samuel L Jackson getting kidnapped. Until that point we suspected it was the rookie but the movie was showing it to be Jackson. They needed to wait it out for the final reveal because there were NO other suspects once Jackson was gone
1. Saw 2
2. Saw 6
3. Saw
4. Spiral
5. Saw 4
6. Saw 5
7. Saw 7
8. Jigsaw
9. Saw 3
I often feel alone in thinking 3 is the weakest. Never liked it at all, so boring.
Saw is my favorite franchise man, fire video! I could never make this video but ill throw a ranking down in the comments just cause its fun

Loving the content as always brother!
Honestly my favorite ranking saw is 5,6, 7 and 2. Hoffman is the best villain and how he goes psycho murderer in the last ones is awesome.
Agreed!
Yes.
I was shocked when Cody said he couldn’t stand Hoffman when I personally thought Hoffman and his storyline pretty much carried the later half of the films lol.
@@ntwze Exactly, this guy doesnt know what hes talking about when it comes to the Saw series. Iknow he mentioned that he isnt a fan. But this list should’ve been done by a hardcore fan, someone that for example doesnt forget that the guy on the Rack had killed his son, not his daughter/wife
@@ntwze I agree, Hoffman was the only positive in these later films. I actually thought he rivaled Jigsaw in how entertaining he was.
My favourite is Saw 3
Sometimes I forget your background is green screen b/c I'm so wrapped up in watching/hearing you talk
I always liked saw 4 and 5 more than 6 and 7, but I liked the detective parts of them. And I liked how saw 4 closed 3 movies worth of loose ends.
The first is my favourite but I can agree it's not a classic.. It's just a really great movie
Saw 3 was definitely my favorite
I agree with saw 2 being #1 it always the only saw movie that I like the most out of all of em and was the first saw movie I ever watched
My ranking would be from worst to best
9. Jigsaw
8. Saw 3D
7. Spiral
6. Saw 5
5. Saw 6
4. Saw 4
3. Saw 2
2. Saw 3
1. Saw
Hoffman fucking up everyone in the "right now you're feeling helpless" scene is my favorite.
In saw 4 there was no lesson because hoffman warned him to lay off the case but briggs wouldn't let it go. So Hoffman did what he had to do and subtract him from the equation.😮
It would be so damn cool if he ranked all the traps or all the kills
I love the Saw franchise and this ranking is pretty good Saw 2 is by far the best
I love the saw movies I love them so much that's my ringtone for my phone
my rankings are very similar to yours. saw 2 is definitely the best one
Saw 2 and 3 are my favs
Huge Saw fan btw 😂
9: Jigsaw
8: Spiral: From the book of saw
7: Saw VII
6: Saw VI
5: Saw V
4: Saw III
3: Saw II
2: Saw IV
1: Saw
I genuinely love all those movies (except jigsaw) mainly due to the characters, story and the creative traps and I’ve always just enjoyed the premise of it
Saw 6 I’d definitely rank higher, its definitely better than 4 and 5
I've caught up on almost all of the Saw films, I haven't seen Jigsaw. I'm going off of memory when it comes to 2 and Spiral
I love the first movie, one of my favorite horror movies. I love the Se7en meets Cube concept, it's not my favorite James Wan film, but definitely one I love to revisit. Favorite trap is the reverse bear trap.
Saw 2 is a mixed bag for me, I need to revisit it though, haven't seen it in almost 2 years. I just remember being disappointed with the film. Favorite trap in this is either the furnace or the glass cage. I love how the glass cage was meant to punish the sin of greed
Saw 3 is pretty great in my eyes, I love the main story centered around a grieving father and how he's moreso a pawn in Amanda's game. Also this has my favorite soundtrack in the series. Favorite trap is a tie between the Juicer and the Rack. The Juicer was a great emotional trap while the Rack was a great visual and gory trap. The judge getting covered in pig guts being a mirror to how the law covered the case of the dead son, drowning the judge in pig juice like the father was drowned in his depression over the case (I'm probably stretching)
I was surprised to like Saw 4, its definitely a flawed entry, but I kinda liked it overall. I liked the bigger scale kn the sense that the traps are scattered around town. I don't mind the whole message behind the main trap, his obsession with saving lives was slowly ruining his own and often jumped the gun in situations and instead of observing and properly surveying the situation he jumped straight in. Which is a fast way to get someone killed if not careful. Favorite trap was the one where that fat creep is tied down and gets his eyes stabbed, getting ried down and having his eyes punctured was a mirror to the physical and visual torture he performed on the girls he brought there. I also loved the hair tie trap, very Seven esc in the sense of it being her suffering through the possibility she'll be disfigured and put in prison for her crimes
Saw 5 was surprisingly great, I love the cat and mouse game between Strahm and Hoffman. Nothing groundbreaking, but I enjoyed it overall. Favorite trap is the pendulum, I love the visual of a pendulum as the time counts down to his demise
Saw 6, I loved this movie a lot. I like the main story centered around the health insurance company workers getting punished for their malpractice. One of the few Saw movies where I liked the ending a lot (I don't care for the endings to 2,4 and 5, I'll get to 7). Favorite trap is the shotgun carousel, how it picks its victims at random and leaving those that were chosen as a mirror to how the company picked and chose their clients. My biggest issue was the side plot with Hoffman, I don't understand the reason why they bring back Reyez just to kill her off again
Saw 7, I hated this one. Wasn't as good as I was hoping for. The pink blood was the main issue I had with it. But the main trap(s) were pretty bad also, by themselves they're great, but in context to the story they're terrible. Favorite trap is the one with Chester Bennington, no deeper meaning, it's just a nice trap to satisfy the gore hound in me
Spiral was pretty good, I liked it a lot for what it is, definitely loved the focus on the cops being the main target for the new Jigsaw copycat. Nothing all that special, but really enjoyed it. My favorite trap is the glass cannon, pretty gnarly kill and most brutal. I also like how the traps were heavily connected to the sins the cops committed, whether its severing a liars tongue, or tearing off the trigger finger (I forgot the meaning behind the glass cannon for some reason)

Pretty good list. I think you underrated Jigsaw as compared to Spiral. Neither was terrible but both were better than some of the dumpster fires of the franchise. I'd take Jigsaw over Spiral probably though.
I also think you're right that 2 might be better than the original, for all the reasons you listed. When the Amanda reveal happened I was blown away.
It's your opinon and I respect it...but seriously, you chose Jigsaw and Spiral over V? V is an enjoyable Saw movie - and definitely one of my go-to Saw movies. I was surprised. :P
I am excited for saw X.
