Brazen Bull
The most brutal trap being used on the most innocent person in the franchise.
so fucking true. it's sad that an innocent lady was killed for another person's lies. easily one of the worst in terms of reasoning, if not the worst.
I love the trap cause I love Greek Mythology, but yes Joyce didn't deserve that.
I had to skip that
@@tananovakova4565v????
A smoker being put in the Oxygen Crusher trap was another way to show the flaw/fault in Easton's policy. Of course Hank isn't going to survive, and that's the problem. If Hank had been someone seeking coverage with Umbrella Health, he would not have gotten it and instead would have received a death sentence -- the point of this trap, and all of the traps during Easton's trials, was to visualize the amount of blood on Easton's hands. He killed Hank, just as he killed Mr Abbott, and everyone else who he denied coverage.
Yes 100%. I'm amazed how often I see people react to those traps with a similar sentiment of how they're all 'really unfair' without grasping the intent in that.
Finally!! Someone else who understands!!
Obviously doesn't make things right BUT with William's test, it's absolutely thematic to him
'The Flammable Jelly' would have been way better if it was as originally scripted. It was supposed to be that the jelly was just on one arm and he had to light his arm on fire to see the markings on the wall. In that scripted version, he died from the poison and not the flames.
Now I’m no expert, but that would have killed him
@@calebmurray9292
I have no idea. But that isn't really the worst trap idea in a 'Saw' film so it's best not to dwell on it.
I can't say for sure but I find it likely they changed it due to budget and time constraints.
That original version would have required a lot more planning and safety measures put in place, but in the final version they hardly used any fire other than a small lit candle and a fire transition added in post production.
I'd guess he die of the poison because it depend how much jelly on the arm how fat is the arm does the jelly go all around forcing test subject keep it up if the arm is skinny then may not last as long
Not gonna lie how Jill lost her baby traumatized me so much that I was crazy cautious of doors with both my pregnancies. It's been 15 years and it's still seared into my brain!!
It was truly shocking.
Glad you had safe & healthy pregnancies ❤ See, this Sawn movie franchise does teach us things that can be useful for later 😂😂
To be fair, I wouldn't think it's an irrational fear 😅 Some people be swinging those doors so hard that you'd swear they have a grudge against it lol. Congrats on the babies btw.
i actually like that the brain surgery trap doesn't open back up after killing mateo, it leaves a lot to the imagination which sometimes can be worse than showing in explicit detail
Just like the original hacksaw moment in a way
I wanted to see it cuz my imagination doesn't do the job good enough 😅
"Epic bad luck" is an S+ tier trap all on its own.
Patrick are you okay?
I miss your saw videos😢
Honestly I really don’t get how people like the reverse bear trap, she doesn’t have to hurt herself and is just killing an innocent man. This trap is probably one of the easiest
Maybe people like the contraption part of the trap, but the logic behind Amanda's test definitely is questionable
@@t6kr958 yeah, I agree
Because it looks fucking badass!
@@THEREALSCRAPPYi like ur thinking
I like to think he was placed in a Trap before Amanda’s and failed
Hope you're doing alright mate
Just realised the Mausoleum Trap is kinda funny because, like... imagine if the other guy had lived and Art Blank had died. The ending would've been a lot weird if he'd turned up instead.
Similar deal with the breath trap from Saw VI.
Also, I don't know why I never thought of this, but... they could've used the blood from the woman in the bath-tub for the Five Pints of Sacrifice. I guess that's why they locked the door.
That's why Art was given the advantage of seeing so that he could have a better chance of winning the game. Then Art gets chosen to become part of the Riggs, Matthews and Hoffman game. It would be pointless to have the guy (with eyes sewn) win knowing what we know.
Also, eye guy probably still would've been a bit blind afterwards because the cord sewing them shut would've started cutting into his eye due to the pressure.
@@jordywoody14 - Yeah, just makes the whole "everyone gets a chance" thing a bit hollow, when Jigsaw actually really needs one guy to win and one guy to lose for the next stage of his plan.
Like, imagine Saw VI if that janitor guy's will to live was stronger than William Eastman's. The next room he goes into, he's going to get a tape about how he has to choose between his intern and his secretary, and he's like "Wait, I have a secretary?"
@@FTZPLTC Yeah but the whole insurance storyline was for William and it makes sense with the traps because he was in charge of deciding who lived.
@@jordywoody14 - I know. It just puts that whole "Everybody has a chance, killing is distasteful to me" shtick of John's into the dumpster. Which i'm actually fine with - I'm all for John being a massive hypocrite. It's just funny when he does his whole "leave nothing to chance" thing. Cuz this trap was after he died, he'd have no way to intervene.
Might not have been a proper trap but if you are counting the exploding puppet that incapacitated Perez, then I think it deserves some credit for how skillfully it was set up. Think about it, he had lined the room with candles so she stood directly in front of the puppet, the volume was low so she had to lean in and it said something about "your next step is crucial" meaning literally her next footsteps in how close she got. She was played beautifully, imo.
I hope all is well, my friend! It’s been a while since you’ve last posted. So I hope you are doing okay🙏🏻
In regards to Saw X, I think the brain surgery trap deserves a spot in A tier. And I don't get it when you say that it's "anticlimactic" just because the mask doesn't open back up. In my opinion, it's better thematically and horror wise for the mask to stay closed. The death mask is meant to be a symbol of that statue that was pointed out earlier in the film by Diego, and so it staying closed works better for the themes of the story. And it also works better horror wise because "less is more". The fact that we can't see what's happening under the mask makes our minds think up something far worse than what is actually going on in there. And my other point is that I feel like you are misunderstanding the gas room trap. I personally think that what jigsaw wanted them to do, was to work together taking turns breathing through the hole and letting the other person do the same. Making self sacrifices just like with the blood boarder. If they both took turns then they would probably both still be alive when the timer runs out and the gas eventually dissipates.
This was the tape for the Gas Chamber Trap…
“Cecilia Pederson, Parker Sears. You've each been working a grift. Playing a role, working together, continuing to play out your scam. Never realizing that you have been the marks all night long. You were given a chance for redemption, but at every turn, you chose death instead of life. You have played your last con game, but not your last game. The two of you have worked together to destroy others. Now, you will work against each other. Only one can survive. And the choice is yours.”
The implication in the tape is that it was intended to be a competition trap, or at least intended for them to THINK it was.
@@darthmeticulous6901 I mean there have been a few points in the series where jigsaw tells someone something, but wants them to do the opposite. I remember back in saw 5 he said "five will become one" but really what was supposed to happen is all five survive.
@@Boc_theSeamster In that tape, he also straight up says “Your instinct will tell you to do one thing. I implore you to do the opposite.” So there he straight up hints at the true goal. Odds are he would have hinted at it if he intended for both Cecilia & Parker to be able to survive, which the tape does not hint at in the slightest. But I get what you’re saying.
@@darthmeticulous6901 Alright, you win the debate.
Please come back soon Patrick. I love your videos ive been a fan since 2021. I hope you upload soon. If the reason why your not is bad then i hope you get through whatever your going through. Take care 🙏
One major reason that I love these movies is how many different perspectives you can have on them. My ranking would be WILDLY different for many different reasons, and that’s one of the best parts of the franchise
My SAW ranking (Not including the JigTrash and Spifail movies)
SAW II
SAW VI
SAW X
SAW
SAW III
SAW IV
SAW VII
SAW V
@@jordywoody146 above x is a wild take!!! I had 6 at my number 2 but it’s 3 behind 1 and x now.
Basically, I can agree with your S and A rank list, but I feel you neglected to include one single trap to your list:
ERIC MATTHEWS!! The Mind Fuck Trap!! Eric is Jigsaw's first ever direct Antagonist. It's the first time we see how smart John Kramer actually is, that his intelligence and patience are more dangerous than the traps themselves, and the safe place twist is the best twist after the SAW 1 twist. Eric's mental breakdown is well acted and leads to one of the Franchise's greatest effects, his broken leg in Saw 3. S RANK!!
Agreed. I love how John tested Eric Matthews. It was one of the best parts of Saw II, and the reason it is on very even footing with the original movie for me.
Makes me very happy to see the Gigli Saw Trap in S tier! It didn't feel like just hype to me. It felt so primal, and the cinematics and suspense are only beaten by the original RBT.
I get where you’re coming from with the Brain Surgery Trap. I had super high hopes for that one, but since the mask doesn’t re-open and show what it did to Mateo’s face, it kinda ruins it.
This makes zero sense. We don't need to see exactly what it did, it adds no real purpose to the movie.
Hope you are ok. Not seen you post anything for a while or write on the community
I'm gonna go ahead and say the brain surgery trap is A to S tier to me. Knocking it down two tiers for not showing the end result seems a bit overkill. In my opinion, the mask staying closed and the lights going out, made such an impact on me. It was dramatic, and more importantly, it was different in that they kept the end result vague, like you can only imagine what happened and what it looked like, and that itself is terrifying to me.
I watched Saw 2 for like the fifth time with my dad (who has never watched it) and the only times I've seen that man scared was the needle pit and the razor box. So seeing the needle pit so high up made my day
I watched saw x with my dad the other day for the first time and i have never seen that man’s legs shake so much before
Hey Patrick, it's been awhile now and i hope that you're feeling good!
I love that we all collectively, as a fandom, hate the Brazen Bull! It went against EVERYYHING Saw was about!
John was always a hypocrite he just tells himself that he does good to delude himself lul
@@Hatsune-Miku_Fan Another example of that is the fact that Adam was captured partly because he agreed to do something as shady as stalking people for money. But that's exactly what Jigsaw and his apprentices do whenever they search for their victims!
Not to mention that John thinks that killing is distasteful. But there are several instances where players have to kill others in order to win their game. Doctor Gordon had to kill Adam and Zep had to kill an innocent mother and child. Amanda had to kill her cellmate and so on.
Wasnt the point of William going against the smoker in the breathing trap to make him decide whose life was more important? I dont think the smoker was supposed to have any chance in the first place.
Howdy, Patrick! I hope you're doing ok, you enjoyed your Christmas, and you're mentally/emotionally healthy and happy! Just wanted to check up on you, make sure you're ok. :) I'm sure these last couple months have not been easy (if I recall correctly, your work is... VERY BUSY around Christmas). So, I hope you had time to rest up and take care of yourself. Keep being awesome, and you are missed.
Thank you for mentioning the issue with the chain hangers trap in jigsaw, it always annoys me that someone would have to be watching to stop the trap. I think traps should be deactivated by the player without any external human error.
I can see the S tier has grown quite a bit since your previous tier list. Kudos on including the carousel trap this time around, that one was my favorite.
Bröther, are you alive? Been 3 months now.
Well, y'know how much I love your videos and your tier lists, Patrick. Lol
The tier list looks great. We did disagree on the Brain Surgery trap, because I didn't mind the mask not opening after Mateo fried. For me, taking into consideration that Tlaloc was an Aztec god that people sacrificed people to, to me, it felt like Tlaloc claimed another sacrifice in the end. And the mask and the body together became this representation of the god, on his throne.
*
I know I TOTALLY read into that too much, but my mind went to a weird and fascinating place lol
*
Keep being awesome, my friend.
No you did not read too much into that at all. I mean why would the mask be there in the first place if there wasn't any cultural symbolism to it. Viewers are meant to piece the puzzle together from how the Aztec God was presented earlier in the film.
always makes my day when i see you upload a video like these. Thank you Patrick

"It's just Jeff." I shouldn't have laughed at that but it did get a laugh out of me
YO! Love these tier list videos man keep up the great work!
i understand that the eye vacuum is a significantly better trap than the pain train, but why does the pain train get points taken off for being a dream sequence while the eye vacuum doesn't ?
Because as explained in the video, the eye trap is used to enhance the narrative and John as a character. It gives us a look into how his mind works and how he comes up with traps and punishments for his victims in a way that feels believable for John as a character,
The pain train looks ridiculous, plays out in such an over the top fashion and is used for cheap thrills that adds absolutely nothing to the movie what so ever.
@@PatrickBurowI like to think that the pain train/kill Jill shows how Jill is so terrified of Hoffman that she has nightmares of being trapped by him
What happened to this channel? Why did he quit?
When you got to the brazen bull I said to myself "if there was something lower than F it would go there" and then you added a lower tier than F LMAO
Thanks for sharing your ranking! Love your content
I was always under the impression that what Zep did to Alison and Diana wasn’t part of his test… he just did that for his own sick pleasure. Nothing in his tape that was heard in the film ever indicated that he was supposed to torment them, just tied them up, watch Lawrence and Adam’s game, then kill them if Lawrence failed. I never got the impression that he was supposed to torment them, it seemed like he chose to do that himself. In fact, in the original script had him do worse stuff like sniff Alison’s underwear. I doubt John would want him to do that, let alone torment them the way he did in the film.
Greetings from Scotland🏴🏴🏴
Big Scottish fan of your channel, you create awesome vids👍
Let's go! Can't wait for Saw XI :D
Thank god for you, you’re my favourite CZcamsr with saw content. I feel like our opinions are very close. I literally agree with every ranking you did.👏🏼
50k subs congrats 🎉
Its crazy how the shotgun collar has new meaning after Saw X when you think about it
Ooh how so?
@@kath9088 The fact that saw 3 would have been the second time he has had brain surgery after being cheated in saw X (which takes place between 1 and 2) so he put the shotgun collar on lyn to make sure she actually dose the job and dosent either half ass it or run
I noticed on my own rewatch that the reverse bear trap 2.0, didn’t activate until the family members choose whether William Easton lives or dies. Also I wonder if he (Hoffman) would’ve had 60 secs if they chose live?
Anyone know when Patrick is gonna be back making videos? This most recent one came out 2 months ago now. Thanks!
32:45 some things never change 😆
You knowing about Scream Queens is both so satisfying and so right, Tanedra and Gabby absolutely deserve those props
agree with all of this, great to see a fellow aussie so enthusiastic about the saw series!
New drinking game: take a shot every time Pat says “iconic” 😂
Glad to know I'm not alone in the fascination of needles and getting my blood drawn
Honestly, i really like Public Execution but only for 1 reason, what the hell happened AFTER it, like, HOW DID THEY GET OUT?! Did the cops arrest them for involuntary manslaughter? Were they forced into therapy for killing someone? (i do know that behind the scenes they were gordon's minions at the end of the movie)
I think the police would spare them? Does it technically count as self defense because it was either them or her
15:03 the masoleum trap is one of my favs even if it's unfair i think the concept and idea of it is really cool
Is there any place i can get my hands on the tier list you used? I wanna fill it out with my friend! Pleass and TY!
The flammable jelly trap would've been cooler if we had more context, like in jigsaw if the combo had something to do with what he was doing like the blonde chick that stole the $3.27 (or however much it was) from that lady with asthma. Then he'd have to really think about wtf he'd been doing
Post Credits Scene
You could say, that *Anna’s selfishness Backfired on her….* 🤣👀
42:22, "Good choice" LOL
You should keep reviewing the Scream series :)
when is sisters reaction to saw x coming?
honestly if I was Gabriela, I would break my arm first. Yes, you would land down and then u can break ur leg to run
You should make a saw podcast for me I would quite enjoy it also your grate I love your videos
Yo r u gonna continue the mtv scream reaction
I also think the blood boarding trap shows that John really lives up to his ideology. Telling Carlos not to pull the lever. Taking the majority of the blood on his own face. John didn't want somebody he perceived as innocent to be in any of his traps.
just a thought, could the shotgun hallway had been a part of (drill chair) Jeff's game that had not started yet. also people forget that Tapp and Sing went into the building without a warrant. they went against protocol so the reason that Jeffs game seems unfair could be because Kramer never finished setting it up?
Can’t believe it’s been a month already since Saw X has been released! 😫
It was Amanda that did the impossible traps not Hoffman. Hoffman only did the pendulum. Hoffman actually finished the jigsaw traps after 3 and gave people a chance. He's the only apprentice that followed what Jigsaw was trying to do. Plus he set up the trap the killed the sexual predator, soo....
Hoffman played the game and he's a fighter, that is cunning and skilled. Don't hate the player, hate the game, as they say.
Glad I'm not the only one who watches the needle go in during blood tests. That's the only way I can keep myself from panicking, weirdly enough 😂
Fxck the brazen bull 😂😂😂 gets me every time you mention that trap
Can you maybe share a link to this tier list with traps, so we can do this ourselves?
far too generous with Drill Chair, Magnum Eyehole, and Razor Box imo. It's always lame when they don't hear the tape (Razor Box). I really liked Saw X but i didn't even like how what's her name Gabriella didn't play the tape.
I like how almost everyone agrees that the needle pit is absolutely horrendous lol
I hope you are doing ok ❤

Fucking amazing video
the bear trap will always be the best .
I think the traps testing people who shouldn't be tested and being less survivable in the first Saw movie's more justifiable because back then they were still considering John Kramer to be a bad guy and a hypocrite. They weren't trying to paint him in a sympathetic light back then. He was more of a complex villain only because of his twisted behaviour but that was more of just sadism back then. For example, when he made Amanda cut open that guy who wasn't dead actually. Like, obviously one of the two victims isn't surviving that trap, John Kramer's ideology wasn't concrete at that point in the franchise and he was still supposed to be a bad guy rather than an antihero back then so his actions were justified through the lens of sadism. Also proven by the fact he tormented a self-harm victim, not a person who genuinely deserved to suffer a terrible fate, the fact that Zepp and Gordon are not bad guys and the fact that John Kramer had Gordon's family held hostage at gunpoint including his innocent child daughter. When they tried to transition the franchise in a brand new direction in the sequels to make John Kramer more of an antihero fighting for justice in a corrupt world with questionable methods to try to get people to rethink their life's pathways and change their self for the better, his choice of test subjects and the survivability of his trap scenarios are far more important to preventing dissonance between the insistences of the movies and the actual reality we are being presented with that takes us out of the movie, unlike the situations with the traps and deaths concocted by Amanda or Hoffman who decidedly don't care about ensuring survival because Amanda is disillusioned (because, obviously, putting people in traps whereby they have to horribly, permanently, and irreversibly mutilate themselves to survive will ruin their life further due to the disfigurements and disabilities and the psychological trauma and PTSD) and Hoffman is evil and sadistic. After the first Saw movie, every time the sequel movies insist John Kramer is a misunderstood antihero, actually, who has good, or at least mixed intentions and he's just not always going about things in the absolute most perfect best way humanly possible and the movies fail to portray that because of the traps or choice of victims being off when it's his games and not Amanda's or Hoffman's, that's when the dissonance kicks in. It's not that the movies depict these people who don't deserve it or these traps that are clearly impossible to survive it's whenever the victims are supposed to deserve it or the traps aren't supposed to be impossible to survive that's when the contradiction becomes an actual problem. The first movie sidesteps that problem by having John Kramer be a bad guy. He wasn't ill back then or anything, he was just an evil, sadistic dude, tormenting his victims psychologically and forcing them to do horrific things and suffer tremendously and then die which means the safe trap being impossible to survive is justifiable actually. I mean, personally, I think that John Kramer is still evil in the sequels despite what the sequels insist, I still think he's a bad guy who deserves to die for what he has done, nobody deserves to suffer through what those people suffered through no matter what they did, we have the Geneva Convention for a reason even if the US routinely flaunts it on a regular basis. Even the worst person deserves a quick death with as little pain as possible. Sure, in war or self-defence they might slowly die from their wounds but when it comes to execution they have the ability to attempt to bring about a swift death and they should try to do so as much to the best of their abilities as possible. So the traps being not so survivable in the first Saw movie is justifiable because of the different mindset back then more than in future movies when done by John Kramer and when they are done by John Kramer in the future movies and the choice of victim is off or the traps aren't that doable when the movies try to insist they are, that leads to that dissonance that breaks immersion, and those are actual blemishes on the movie at that point unlike in the first movie. That's why the first movie will always be the best one, well among other reasons as well...
Freezer trap is way higher than D it’s one of the most unique
You doing OK dude? You look physically more tired. Hopefully it’s nothing!
Regarding the Saw X Gas Chamber Trap, reason #3: It relies on a CRAP ton of coincidences and circumstances to be executed which there's no way even Jigsaw could have predicted, at least not to the eventual outcome. It's just too far fetched for me.
It was a fail safe. The marks could have also ended up on the Blood Board if Jigsaw wanted to.
Ta scary
First 😊
You could have spoke more about the mechanism of some of these traps rather than how deserving it was. You said absolutely nothing about the bedroom trap's mechanism for example.
Dude If you have never seen this movie check it out VHS 2012
They aren’t wrong. Yer gunner friends. This was rigged up to get Hoffman on board. I just feel John’s famous understanding of games theory, thank you CZ’s world, missed even this to an extent. Mark is the literal loose cannon. He’s effective, but unpredictable. For an engineer and a logical thinker, that’s a nightmare. While Mark was interesting, his actions defy John’s beliefs, no matter how extreme, he defies them and I’ve never been sure what to do with that.

Again, why does everyone have hate on saw 3D and brazen bull
The director(I think?) said he made Danica naked in the freezer room trap because spraying her with water with pajamas on, like a tank top for example, would have ended up being even more sexual. Because the clothes would stick to her skin and possibly be see-through once they were wet or whatever.
I always thought that was the shittiest excuse ever. Like, maybe let her wear something other than a white tank top dude, ever think of that? Anyway, I really appreciate your input and rating on that one.
