  • Underwater dolphin kick is extremely important for competitive swimming. After each turn or start you are allowed to do 15 meters of this really fast technique in freestyle, breaststroke or backstroke. This means that in a short course race you can swim most of the it underwater. Today we will talk about three really important aspects of this sometimes called “the fifth stroke”.
    1- Streamline
    2- Hips
    3- Feet

    1
    00:00:09,895 --> 00:00:15,207
    Underwater dolphin kick is extremely important for competitive swimming.
    물속 돌고래 차기는 경영에 굉장히 중요합니다.
    2
    00:00:15,429 --> 00:00:23,383
    After each turn or start you are allowed to do 15 meters of this really fast technique in freestyle, breaststroke or backstroke.
    4대 영법 모두에서 발사나 벽 되돌기를 한 후 15미터까지는 진짜로 빠른 이 기술이 허용됩니다.
    3
    00:00:23,907 --> 00:00:28,700
    This means that in a short course race you can swim most of it underwater.
    즉 단수로 경기에서는 경기 대부분을 물속으로 갈 수 있다는 의미가 됩니다.
    4
    00:00:29,950 --> 00:00:36,744
    Today we will talk about three really important aspects of this sometimes called “the fifth stroke”.
    오늘 우리는 가끔 "제 5 영법"이라고도 불리는 물속 돌고래 차기의 진짜로 중요한 세 가지 측면에 대하여 이야기하도록 하겠습니다.
    5
    00:00:37,211 --> 00:00:38,566
    1- Streamline
    1- 흐름선(streamline, 流線) 자세
    6
    00:00:39,315 --> 00:00:44,773
    The first thing to master for a correct underwater kick is the streamline.
    올바른 물속 차기를 하기 위해 첫 번째로 숙달해야 할 것은 흐름선(streamline, 流線) 자세입니다.
    7
    00:00:45,102 --> 00:00:50,294
    Underwater butterfly kick is all about moving efficiently through the water, so it is very important to create less resistance.
    물속 접영 차기에서 가장 중요한 점은 물을 꿰뚫으며 효율적으로 움직여나가는 것입니다. 그러므로 저항을 적게 만들어내는 것이 아주 중요합니다.
    8
    00:00:50,508 --> 00:00:53,916
    A tight streamline will help you move faster.
    꽉 조인 흐름선(streamline, 流線) 자세가 더 빨리 움직여나가는 데 도움이 됩니다.
    9
    00:00:54,134 --> 00:00:57,032
    Lock your hands high above your head.
    머리 위로 높이 두 손을 꽉 조이십시요.
    10
    00:00:57,358 --> 00:01:00,364
    Your elbows should be straight and tight.
    두 팔꿈치를 반듯이 펴서 단단히 조여야 합니다.
    11
    00:01:00,389 --> 00:01:04,512
    Your head should be between your biceps or a little bit in front.
    머리는 위팔두갈래근 사이에 혹은 약간 그 앞쪽에 있어야 합니다.
    12
    00:01:04,838 --> 00:01:08,914
    There should be no space between your shoulders and your neck.
    어깨와 목 사이에는 빈 공간이 없어야 합니다.
    13
    00:01:09,071 --> 00:01:11,576
    Your core should be tight.
    몸중심부근육군은 단단하게 조여있어야 합니다.
    14
    00:01:11,775 --> 00:01:18,108
    Your legs should be touching each other and your feet should be in plantar flection as much as possible.
    두 다리는 서로 맞닿아 있어야 하고 두 발은 발바닥 쪽으로 최대한 굽혀야 합니다.
    15
    00:01:19,008 --> 00:01:26,325
    You will keep this position for about 2 seconds or less after each push of the wall or after the dive.
    당신은 발사 후 또는 매번 벽을 밀고 난 후 약 2초 이하로 이 자세를 유지할 것입니다.
    16
    00:01:26,690 --> 00:01:32,062
    A good streamline will carry that very important initial speed off the wall.
    흐름선(streamline, 流線) 자세가 좋아야 아주 중요한 벽을 밀고 나온 초기 속도를 이어갈 수 있습니다.
    17
    00:01:32,501 --> 00:01:33,768
    2- Hips
    2- 볼기
    18
    00:01:34,387 --> 00:01:38,919
    Before you start to slow down in the streamline, you need to start kicking.
    흐름선(streamline, 流線) 자세에서 느려지기 시작하기 전에 차기를 시작할 필요가 있습니다.
    19
    00:01:39,285 --> 00:01:45,699
    I say that it is helpful to think of butterfly kick as if you were just moving your hips up and down.
    저는 접영 차기를 그냥 볼기를 위아래로 움직이는 것처럼 생각하는 것이 도움된다고 말씀드립니다.
    20
    00:01:46,017 --> 00:01:53,969
    Even though you are using most of the muscles in your core, which extend to your chest and upper back.
    비록 가슴과 윗등까지 이어지는 몸중심부근육군 대부분을 사용하고 있습니다만.
    21
    00:01:54,390 --> 00:02:01,508
    The hips are where all the power originates, but the legs are what keep the velocity of the body through the water.
    대부분의 힘이 시작되는 곳은 볼기입니다. 그리고 두 다리는 몸이 물속에서 움직이는 속도를 유지합니다.
    22
    00:02:02,032 --> 00:02:03,308
    3- Feet
    3- 발
    23
    00:02:03,534 --> 00:02:06,929
    Even though all of the muscles in your legs are working
    비록 두 다리의 모든 근육을 사용하지만
    24
    00:02:06,954 --> 00:02:12,599
    it is useful to think about your feet and the sensation of the water in that part of the body.
    두 발과 두 발에 느껴지는 물의 감각을 생각하는 것이 유용합니다.
    25
    00:02:12,748 --> 00:02:18,886
    You will know when you are doing an effective underwater kick by the feeling of the feet.
    당신이 효율적인 물속 차기를 하고 있는지 두 발에 느껴지는 감각을 통해 알 수 있습니다.
    26
    00:02:19,390 --> 00:02:23,807
    This is the place of a lot of nerve endings, so use them.
    두 발은 많은 신경이 끝나는 지점입니다, 그러니 잘 이용하십시요.
    27
    00:02:24,139 --> 00:02:28,030
    Your feet should always be pointing in plantar flexion.
    두 발은 언제나 발바닥 쪽으로 굽힌 상태로 뾰족해야 합니다.
    28
    00:02:28,327 --> 00:02:32,447
    The more ankle flexibility you have the better.
    발목 유연성이 클수록 더 좋습니다.
    29
    00:02:33,020 --> 00:02:44,638
    Finally, one thing that not a lot of swimmer know is that during the underwater kick it is equally important to kick strongly in the back kick as it is in the front kick.
    마지막으로, 많은 수영인들이 알지 못하는 한 가지는 물속 차기를 할 때 앞으로 찰 때 만큼이나 뒤로 찰 때 강하게 차는 것이 똑같이 중요하다는 사실입니다.
    30
    00:02:44,666 --> 00:02:50,008
    This means that you are making an effort while the feet are going up and while the feet are going down.
    즉 두 발이 위로 올라갈 때도 힘을 써야 하고, 두 발이 아래로 내려갈 때도 힘을 써야 한다는 것을 의미합니다.
    31
    00:02:50,608 --> 00:02:55,247
    You are kicking at all times and moving fluidly through the water.
    당신은 계속해서 차고 있으면서 물을 꿰뚫으면서 흘러가듯이 움직여가게 됩니다.
    32
    00:02:55,441 --> 00:03:03,650
    Remember, tight streamline, move hips up and down, and feel the water with your feet!
    기억하세요, 꽉 조인 흐름선(streamline, 流線) 자세, 볼기를 위로 아래로 움직이기, 두 발로 물을 느끼기!
    33
    00:03:03,759 --> 00:03:12,100
    Practice at least one kick after every turn and once you dominate that move on to two and so on.
    벽 되돌기를 할 때마다 물속 돌고래 차기를 최소한 한 번 이상 연습하세요. 그리고 완전히 숙달한 다음에는 두 번으로, 세 번으로 계속 늘려가십시요.

    Thanks for the video. May I ask if there is any conscious movement of the hands / wrists / arms during the dolphin kick. Meaning should you keep them static (they will move only due to the movement of the body due the kick) or tilt them up or down slightly depending on the kick.

    • @avocatious6402
      @avocatious6402 Před 2 lety +2

      You want to keep them static. Some really amazing swimmers like Caeleb Dressel slightly move their hands, but that is natural. He isn't thinking about it. It doesn't make him go faster, his arms just naturally move slightly because of how powerful his dolphin kick is. In fact, arm movement slows you down slightly. Probably not noticeable as you swim, however

    Are kicking on the back vs kicking on the stomach different? I find the underwater dolphin kick for backstroke harder than the normal underwater dolphin kick on the stomach. Do you have any tips for doing that? Also, when doing such kick, we should try not to over-undulate the arm and hand parts right? Are there just the core and the thigh that do the job? Thanks. :D

    • @SkillsNT
      @SkillsNT  Před 7 lety +3

      It is theoretically the same. Although you will have to blow air through your nose or use a nose clip. I use a nose clip and I find it easier to kick on my back but that is just because I practice it more often.

      @leesanghwa8175 Před 7 lety

      Kicking on the back, on the front, and kicking on side....
      We need to consider the gravity force....
      Training just on one side will result in imbalance between the muscles surrounding your join area.... that's not good.
      So, we need to change the positions when we train kicks.

      Whenever i try to do dolphin kicks on my front i cant really bend my hips as much as when Im on my back. And whenever i do dolphins on my front, it goes really slow.

      This makes sense, it's supposed to be faster on your back. Not sure exactly why. That's why Ryan Lochte likes doing underwater dolphins on his back in the freestyle (called the "Lochte Turn").

      Apparently its quite common, I feel the same too, my backstroke kick is also faster than my freestyle but I found this is similar in quite a few of my teammates too

    It's so tiring to kick off of every wall isn't it? Do you practice this on distance sets?

    Did you know making a streamline for a really long time it make your shoulders go up and it stay there in place so that's why most swimmers have bold shoulders *(man shoulders)or some people are already born like that lol

      Skills NT its difficult to exhale all the time while kicking underwater dolphin in backstroke, I can only do 4 kicks maximum 😅😓

      +Keyla acuña yes is difficult to exhale all the time! I use a nose clip sometimes, that helps!

    3:34: "Keep the stream line 2 second before first dolphin kick after turn" ?? Really, I thought that they have proven that the faster you start the kick the more velocity you keep. Please respond thanks much.
