This is the only song where another a capella group did a cover of THEIR original song.
While Avi and Kevin co-wrote this song, the majority of it was by Avi, using his composing and arranging college minor (opera & classical voice was his major) to build on the dissonances and resolves. The arranging help from Ben Bram resulted in this. Those of us familiar with Avi's solo original work can clearly hear his influence in "Run To You", both musically and lyrically. An example to listen to is his original song "Chains". Listen for some similarities, such as in the lyric "I've been here before, tethered and torn. I can't take any more..." It harkens back to the line in "Run To You" of "I have broken bones and tattered clothes. I've run out of time". Very Avi.
This song always gets me, so powerful and beautiful. definitely one of my top 5. I see them live this week and I am so excited.

So beautiful I am a fan of Pentatonic since they first began signing in the Sing Off Competition. I love your reactions and being new to your channel I really enjoy your style and feedback. Recently I heard an older song by Pentatonix that I had not heard. I don't know if you have already reacted to it but it Was great. Mitch is outstanding, "Ride". Please give it a listen.
Apparently to record the chorus where the flakes are floating upwards they learned how to lip sync in reverse so they could play the clip backwards. When they perform this live they drop the mics and just sing clearly...imagine 10,000 fans absolutely quiet to hear every beautiful note!

Yes, Run to You & Light in the Hallway are 2 songs where when they perform them live (at least in every vid I've seen) they deliberately blend the 5 part harmony more by just singing around 1 mic instead of having individual mics & clearer sound like the official version here. So the sound is slightly different if you watch a fan posted vid of them doing those songs live.
Personally, I like the official Light in the Hallway better, but I like the live Run to You better. Of course when I say "better" I mean just the tiniest bit more, like 1/2 of a %. It's just a slight variation, not even enough to call it a different style, just a preference my ears have. Maybe someone with more musical knowledge knows the word for what I mean about the difference between more blended vs more layered harmony? No matter which version, their voices are gorgeous & perfect & full of emotion, so I'm gonna listen to & enjoy the whole thing no matter which version someone reacts to. Just throwing in my opinion. 🙂

Great reaction! This song is absolutely beautiful. They always pack a punch. Love Again, another original of theirs, is more in line with the feel of Daft Punk Medley (techno) and it is unbelievable. Don't know if you checked this one out, but did not see immediately that you did. As always, I look forward to more of your reactions!
Powerful five part harmonies. They have been known to sing this without mics in a small arena. If it is a bigger one they will use a single mic. The audience gets so quiet you could hear a pin drop. They went no mic when I saw them at a Christmas show in 2018 when they sang their original That's Christmas to me. Craziest thing I have ever seen at a concert.
When I saw the title on PTX Volume II I thought they were covering Whitney or Bryan Adams. Was still not disappointed.

Fun video fact. They could not get the 'snow' to fall up so they lip synced backwards. Only PTX.
Don't forget they had to learn to lip-sync the song backwards so the paper went up in places.
