Pentatonix, if you love Xmas songs, you have to do Mary Did You Know and Amazing Grace. Without out a doubt the best, right up there with Hallelujah. Sound of Silence is incredible too, it’s just not Xmas related.
Also check out Home Free’s version of O’Holy Night (with Xmas in mind) and Man of Constant Sorrow (not Xmas related but phenomenal nonetheless).
Those are literally the best of the best of this kind of music. One more bonus one is Marcelito Pomoy’s version of The Prayer (live on the Radio version). Seriously, if you want to see mind-blowíng life changing stuff, watch what I suggested and listen with good headphones. Best of luck with your channel, and my name is Sal by the way (I had to change my user name because of someone trollíng me).

You are in for a treat with Avi's solo work. We know he is still very close to Kevin, at least, in the group, and his leaving was voluntary for his life balance. He's much happier now and you can hear it in his music. Matt isn't a basso profundo like Avi, but his bass has a beautiful sound that I think you'll approve of. He fits into the band beautifully and brings so much joyous energy with him wherever he goes. It was hard to see Avi go, but I am not sad or disappointed. Pentatonix and Avi are all just fine.

His mother was battling cancer while he and his sister Esther were touring around the world with PTX (Esther was tour manager), and they flew home to LA whenever possible to be with her, then flying back out, which took a toll on them both. The incessant touring became too much, and insomnia became all too frequent for him. He's recently finally been talking about how he did feel constricted creatively on multiple levels, so being able to create his own music was what he was meant to do. His catalog of original songs is amazing and broad-ranging genre-wise. It was the best move for everyone.

A wonderful Avi lead is Standing By - there is no official video sadly, but it's one of my favourite PTX songs, and there is a visualiser of it. There is a live (fan cam) video out there in CZcams land. I see your reactions reference lyrics and mental health - there are two songs I'd like to suggest from Pentatonix, both originals and from their later album. The first is Never Gonna Cry Again - it's a Mitch lead and is about life in the spotlight of social media/internet - it's upbeat but has a strong message. The other is Anchor, also a Mitch lead, and about relationships. Sadly neither has an official video, just a visualiser. Even if you don't do a reaction to them, you may like to listen for your own pleasure. Just an FYI - you may find that you get copyright blocked - if you do, you can cover the video with text or similar which may help if that occurs! They are masters at making medleys & mashups. They have originals in various styles & genres.

Matt (Avi's replacement) and Scott are a perfect example of how _tonal quality_ is what truly determines voice classification as opposed to _range._ Not sure if Avi actually meets the technical definition of _basso profundo_ but it doesn't seem unreasonable to call him that; his high end was more typical for classic basses. Matt is a lyric bass, and Scott is a lyric baritone ("lyric" in this context denoting they have ranges more extended than typical); even so, their actual ranges are very nearly identical. However, they _sound very different_ within the same octaves.

This is my favorite PTX song. The dissonance and resonance of the various harmonies are just beautiful. Like you I am a sucker for low voices and Avi’s voice is a once in a generation voice.

Pentatonix don't only do sad/moving songs. They also do uplifting happy fast songs. Check out their original "Sing" and try celeb spotting!
I guess before you get too deep into Pentatonix, you should see "The Beginners Guide" which has a whole wealth of snippets and a run down of the members and history. Created a few years ago, so not totally up-to-date.

Pentatonix are the KIngs and Queens of Christmas with many double platinum albums of Christmas music. Their latest Christmas album is being released tomorrow (Oct. 28). Check it out on their channel. I just subbed. Crying is perfectly acceptable. We get it. Check out Avi Kaplan's channel. Matt, the new bass, did an amazing job on Pentatonix (aka PTX)'s version of "Sound of Silence". Thank you! I look forward to more of your PTX reactions.

I did listen to Matt on my Patreon and that was beautiful too … but AVI’s voice reminds me more of my grandfather so when I hear him I am sold

@@MommaTaunT Avi and Matt both are very different basses. That is true. I have seen live performances of both, and I like Matt's energy. He's a few years younger than the others. Avi is a few years older.

Avi Kaplan has a CZcams channel and has released an album and a few EPS. He has an original song called Change is on the Rise.

Beautiful song, and an original of theirs. Avi just does his own thing and yes they are still friends. Avi is a home body type person and just couldn't do the touring that they were doing. Matt Sallee to his place in 2017 and has done a great job. Avi, "Change on the Rise". Lovely reaction, we Pentaholics will ride with you. PTX does have , with their new album, 5.5 hours of Christmas music. All we play Christmas eve at my house. Lovely reaction.

If you are into low voices, you need to check out some sacred music and opera, particularly Russian music. There's a musicologist who once said that a society gets the voice types that they have the music for. For the last few decades society has been about the boy bands. People admire the high notes and that's what singers train to do. I haven't sung in a choir for a while that had any real basses. But the Russian Orthodox church and Russian composers like Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov write vert low bass parts, so there are lots of Russian singers that can really go low. There's even an "Oktavist" tradition where singers train to sing an octave lower than the normal baritone range, and there's a CZcams channel called "The Oktavism Channel" that has pieces and compilations featuring low basses. Here's a sample -- czcams.com/video/Gv0nuACLqJE/video.html Or here's a Rachmaninov piece that I have sung a few times, but we never had a bass who could hit those last notes -- czcams.com/video/xW0QbUC0cEU/video.html

I see you reacted to "Blinding Lights" by the Weeknd. As the Pentaholics will tell you, PTX don't do covers, they do upgrades! I much prefer their version of "Blinding Lights" to the original. Pentatonix have covered many songs I was not fond of and produced songs that have become some of my favourites. Don't forget that PTX also have many originals too and probably the largest Xmas collection of songs that anyone has done.

If you are interested in bass voices look out for songs of the Bass Gang - four bass singers.
