Thanks for the video! I shot my K100 Mk12 after 2 years of it being in a safe and remembered the dreaded reassembly. After struggling for a few minutes went on youtube and found your video! Showing how to hold the barrel did the trick for me.
Side note: on my K100 I have to pull down on levers to allow the last 1/4 inch travel for the frame to slide in place.

Great video! I just found it.
My daughter was given a K100 a few years ago by a boyfriend. He had barely shot it.
She brought it to me to check it out and like usual I had to take it apart to check internals. It was the early model where you had to pull down the frint of the trigger guard to release the slide.
It was a pain to take apart and almost a nightmare to reassemble but I got it done.
I am going to try this method on it now.
Looks like it should work great. Thanks for this video!

The first time I tried to reassemble the pistol; I had a very difficult time. I eventually succeed. It must of taken me 8 attempts over 2 hours. I had to rest my hands, 68 year old hands On the second breakdown, I used a motorcycle glove to enhance my grip on the slide. It only took me two tries. I will try your technique, thank you.

I just got mine. All the reviews I read spoke about the heavy double action trigger and the rotating barrel reducing felt recoil. They failed to mention that you need to be as strong as a gorilla, as deft as a neurosurgeon, have a mechanical engineering degree from MIT, have three hands and be lucky as hell to field strip it. Throw in another hand and more luck to reassemble it. I would not have bought it had I known. I guess that's a good thing if I wind up liking it.

    Good video with good tips.
If you just hold the slide upside down in your off hand with the barrel pointing down there is no need to hold the barrel at all. Line up the guide rod and push straight down on the frame and they will go back together quickly and easily. 😊

@@richardavery2244 The shooter has the most to do with it (in my opinion) because steady hands and a decent gun can’t be replaced. I’m rubbish at zeroing red dots so I’ve been (also) shooting better with bare sights.

Thanks for the assembly tip. My problem was that I have at least 2 too few hands. Five hands would be optimum. Extrapolating on your pinkie hold on the barrel, I figured I needed that pinkie for other duties, so I looked for an alternative. I wound an elastic band around the barrel, and pushed it up against the slide to keep the barrel relatively fixed. It worked rather well.
After gorilla-ing the slide back on, the slide moved forwad and self-ejected the band.

With my method you can take the slide off and put it back on in about 15 seconds! Putting it back on is the tricky part for everyone, but it really is easy. Simply get the recoil spring and barrel in their correct starting positions, then, while pulling the slide back keep it SQUARE and TIGHT to the grip rails. By doing this the slide will automatically find the slots it's suppose to drop into and do so...done!!!

I just purchased the updated MK23 K100. Without a doubt it is the absolutely worst pistol to reassemble. I was ready to send it back but I spent an hour seeing how it reassembled without the recoil spring to test the alignment. You also have to push the slide down by the hammer and cause the hammer to flex down to reinstall the slide.

I thought that was were it was suppose to go but not sure even putting it together without a barrel and spring showed to be around that area. I have had this gun for over a year and love the gun. When it comes to putting it together it's a pain in the back side of my front. My fingers/arms are sore from wrestling with this thing. Instead of taking many attempts putting it together now only takes me about two or three. Thanks for your help.

They taught you the wrong way. You hook the middle finger of your weak hand into the trigger guard and pull down the tabs with thumb and index finger. Then grab the slide at the rear serrations and point it muzzle down somewhat so the barrel stays forward position. Install slide onto guide rod and pull back as far as it will go, and remember to keep the disassembly tabs pulled down or the slide wont go back far enough, and lower the rear of the slide onto the rails. Just release and you are done. This is how Grand Power does it and no need for a table to rest the gun on. It is very simple. Most people have a problem because they arent pulling the slide all the way back which requires the tabs be out of the way. See how far the slide moves rearward with and without the tabs pulled. the tabs simply prevent the slide from moving all the way to the rear to clear the rails.
