For anyone who is curious. Most of these engines are at the maximum tensile strength for the materials being used to build them. Steel, aluminum and iron can only be pushed so hard, so fast, before critical failure.

@@LtJackboot no, you bring youre car there for either the engine to be tuned or to see how much power it makes, so it is not their fault at all as it is done on youre will. (unless it flies of the dyno in which case it is not youre fault and it comes down to insurance)

9:12 isn't an engine failure. It was an explosive charge to test the casing in case of engine failure, that's what the colored blade is.

@ 9:23 is a "Tri-hub" containment test. They cut 3 notches in critical locations in the blade hub and spin it up to operating RPM. All the parts have to be contained by the Containment Ring surrounding the fan blades. There's one for the turbine section also.
It looks as if they rigged an explosive rather then cut notches but i could be wrong
@@5m1l3ztuch7 it's a bird strike test. They fire a frozen chicken into the engine to simulate it ingesting a bird ( as sometimes happens ). The fact that it's frozen seems to make little to no difference to the results of a chicken being chopped and flambé by a jet engine. All the stuff about the containment ring is correct.

It's a test to see if there were to be a bird strike it would keep the explosion contained

I use to ride with a couple of idiots on 600cc sport bikes and they would bounce off the rev limiter at stop lights all the time, I told them your gona blow it up if yall keep doing that. this one kid hit the limiter for about 2 seconds then dropped a valve and blew skittles all over the intersection, bike caught on fire and everything. It was a great memory.

probably a "runaway." Diesels can do that if something is screwed up in the fuel system (depending on design) or if engine oil makes its way into the cylinders.
