Fabulous! I'm so excited for you two. I can't believe you're living the dream! We'll be in Exuma next week starting Tuesday, if you're still in the area...

Exuma sounds awesome, but we thought we would do Berry Islands and Abacos first

what it take to cross with the trawler? 5 hours or so?

About 6 to 7 hours by the time we got out from Virginia Key and navigated into Bimini Harbour. We didn't push it. We set off at sunrise.

Like you I am also planning a year ish long trip to the Bahamas exumas but just can’t seem to decide between trawler or sailboat. I’ve opened both sailboats and 1 trawler and the 39 ft trawler definitely felt a bit more unsafe in nasty weather than the sailboat but the room and the view What made you all decide on a trawler ?

Decided on a trawler because it was more comfortable and easier than sail boat. There is more space on a trawler. We didn't really sail in rough seas but you're right in rough weather the trawler rocks like crazy. My one piece of advice is to get a GOOD dinghy with an outboard. We should have had a davit installed in the trawler, it would have made the trip fantastic. We just had a cheap dinghy and light cheap outboard - big mistake
