Actually using McTominay to get defenders tired physically really seem to benefit Hojlund's lategame. It always looked like Hojlund was gassed in the second half, getting pushed around. Hope to see this "no striker for 60minutes" play against city, looks like what we did under Ole when Bruno first came in and it worked wonderfully.

Football gods, please forgive me for what I am about to type (oh boy)...
Have McTominay and Rasmus run the forward line. Hear me out (can't believe I'm thinking like this).
Rasmus should scare cenre backs all off-season. Scott can be an effective bruiser for 60 minutes before being subbed for Rasmus or the pair of them for the final 30 minutes would be a nightmare for most centre-back partnerships.
Save some money on the forward line. Start Amad and Rashy (if he stays). We can give Bruno a break with those two up front late in games, let Kobbie or Chritian play the 10.
Scott can score - his finishing can only improve. Not saying the above should be the plan, but it's an option we have.

The club really screwed up last summer, not moving on existing players not upto it, not fully backing the manager and getting quality in defence, midfield and most importantly up front (ie 1st choice striker).
To kick on, Dalot needs to maintain this consistency and iron out his switching off/errors.
Think Amrabat fluffing his lines yesterday has sealed him returning to Fiorentina. There were glimpses of what we hoped he would bring, just not often enough per 90. Had he had a good 4 games on the trot, then I'd have liked the club to keep him. I doubt he'd be happy as back up though and currently that's all he has offered.

Having mctomminay play week in week out has absolutely fucked us in terms of control and possession. He’s sloppy in possession, rarely makes progressive passes, is constantly in Højlands way. The guys got a great work ethic but that should be a given for a premier league player. He’s lacking in so many areas it hurts the team having him on the pitch. The only way I can see him being part of this team going forward is if he comes on for Højland as and when he needs a rest. Keep him away from the midfield at all costs!

Some context to that Hojlund stat.
He's got a high conversion rate because up until Newcastle the only shots he took were clear cut big chances, whilst he refused to take low xG volume shots from passes to him. His chance conversion and big chance conversion are the same which proves it.
Ever since Cole told him to stop wrestling players and focus on getting shots off (before Newcastle) he's done exactly that.
Bruno's pass to him vs Newcastle and Eriksen's vs Brighton can't be classed as service, its Hojlund finally turning to face defenders and creating space for a shot instead of backing into CBs trying to holdup play (Like Lukaku kept doing).
It's a decision he correctly made to change his playstyle, because hes not a target man he's a player that runs at defenders. Right now he's a super sub.

We needed to sell one of our 2 good RB's and this season Dalot has progressed more than AWB. AWB is a good RB and great tackling but can't head, i like AWB, but Dalot is better overall and better going forward. So probably sell AWB.
But I wouldn't pay for an RB unless he is clearly better than Dalot, so I'd be content with us sign a free RB like Aina from Notts forest or even Ben Johnson, both free

absolutely sell AWB, his 1v1 defending is world class but his positioning is way too poor and it single-handedly cost us multiple games. he's not a good of a crosser as dalot, doesn't have as much versatility and he's more injury prone

Approach at Wembley: start 5-5-0/4--6-0, then maybe 4-5-1, then we'll see.
Aim: frustrate, cover all spaces, challenge to force mistakes (rather than necessarily win the ball) & prevent crosses into the box (Atletico!); in possession KEEP THE BALL, maybe counting 100+ passes if poss(Barca), unless spotting the keeper off the line: go for a 60yarder (Caicedo). Hojlund on second half. Retain possibility of suddenly kitchen sink abandon for last 10-15min (Siralex).
    90/120 min of concentration!
Probably none of this will happen.

I don’t get why people think we should be selling Dalot. Great injury record, can play both sides, works hard, and you can tell he’s a good character in what at times has been a very toxic dressing room. Not saying he’s the best in the world, but he’s definitely at the bottom of the priority list. I don’t think Alonso would’ve stayed if he knew his team was getting dismantled so I don’t expect us to get someone like Frimpong this season.

How about, that result wasn't important, but we won?
Surely, you could see that the purpose of that game was all about preparing the team for the final much more than getting 3 league points.
    More positives from the game...
Onana got his first clean sheet in weeks - against a team who have been a thorn in our side season after season.
Varane, Martinez and Evans all got minutes on the clock so, we have THREE options for central defence, we looked steady when we played with 2 centre backs, but make note that Martinez, our left sided centre back played along side Casemiro.
Casemiro - After taking one for the team for weeks, playing in a position he clearly isn't comfortable in, but, every game he has been recovering from half a season injured, and he finally got to play in centre midfield, he looked fitter and up for it - he's had valuable time working on his defensive role which should improve that area of his game.
So, 3 ACTUAL defenders ready for the final and a world class centre midfielder to partner Mainoo.
    Bruno is fit.
Amad has more minutes and has proven to be one of our best forwards.
Rashford, a proven big game player, is fully fit.
Hojlund has shown last two games that he can be dangerous.
The point about looking disjointed and uncoached? Maybe Amrabat showed why he hasn't been first choice for Ten Hag, he was awful under pressure, must have given the ball away more times than not and made erratic challenges. Ten Hag's 'style' is being fast on the transition, so, if his team is moving forward at pace, if that one midfielder is having a nightmare, stumbling, running into a cul de sac and giving the ball away in front of goal, when his team mates are expecting a forward pass, then yes the whole team is out of sync. THAT IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF TEN HAG'S 'STYLE' - Amrabat IS NOT Frankie De Jong.
If we some how get Shaw back for the final, we could possibly see Ten Hag's preferred 11 for the first time this season and for our most important match - this is no accident, this is team management.
