Watch The Mars Volta talk about their most cherished piece of vinyl for Because Sound Matters. Noctourniquet is now available on iTunes here - smarturl.it/TMViTunes
Honestly, I do that all the time. And sometimes I'm really disapointed because it's nothing like the cover. But The Mars Volta, oh man. I just remember Comatoriums cover, so awesome, and then the music was just as good. Man I love that album.
I really like the new album. They continue to experiment, which is what I love about them. They're similar to Radiohead in that each album is different. They lose and pickup new fans along the way. They keep their sound fresh, and always put on an amazing live show.
@@davidaaronartist Nope, Puerto Rican accent, actually. I know because I am Puerto Rican and I know that accent very well, particularly when talking in Spanish. I am glad he didn't lose it, even though he moved to the USA at a very young age.
Tbh he can be very pretentious and rude. My friend saw him in a public location and asked for an autograph and he told her something along the lines of “get out of my sight, you don’t know who I am”
A good place to find old Vinyl records is estate sales. Most estate sales don't have records so you kind of have to watch them like a hawk because every once in a while you find one with a record collection and you can buy boxes of records for so cheap, or just pick through the collection and find the ones you want. Usually the estate sale company has no idea which records are valuable so they just sell them ultra cheap just to get rid of them.
My favorite album covers are all the circa survive albums. Their friend is an artist and he does all that stuff.. the cover for ' on letting go' is amaaziiinggggg...
This is crazy first 2 Albums the best in between Albums ok I love the new album laid back I could listen to track 6 blasting over and over 1 2 4 and 5 are very good too I have no idea why people dislike it I'm just mad I missed the at the drive in stuff a couple months ago fuck
for any spoken worders like Omar JAYNE CORTEZ did some SOLID LPs in the 80s. well worth checking out. wish i had em. maybe Omar has heard them. They tried to have her husband Ornette play on FTM.
im looking for an interview where the 2 of them talk about some of their favorite bands and albums and they suuuper go fanboy on a specific band that noobody knows about, does anybody know the interview or the band that im talking about that they love????
Sean Bonniwell's The Music Machine. Had a hit single with the song Talk Talk, but the whole record/project is badass and worth listening to. Sean Bonniwell understood secrets to Music that very few understand. It's no surprise that Cedric is into this genius band that was fronted by a Man who seemed to have access to esoteric knowledge.
Yeah yeah, could be. Fortunately, you're not required to keep liking them, but I guess it'd be disappointing. What would you rather see them do? Or are you just tired of them?
Nah, that's how a lot of people feel. To me, the new album's a pretty natural progression, especially if you listen to ORL's solo stuff in between TMV albums. But maybe I like them for different reasons to begin with. I always love Cedric's lyrics and vocals and I think those have been pretty consistent throughout their discography. I'm also a drummer, and the drums have been similarly interesting to me. I think I love them for Omar's general philosophy, on his directing and control.
I liked Bedlam but the one before that, Amputechture was pretty disappointing. After that I just stopped caring but being open minded I will always welcome this band. They put on one of the best shows I've ever been to. To me it all changed after Frances but I still recognize their talent and some of the new stuff sounds alright, maybe I'll check it out soon.
Haha dunno if that'll help any, since Cedric purposely took so long in recording vocals for this. That was one new thing about Noctourniquet, it was cohesive, united, and I think their other albums thrive on the lack of unity. No salsa jams in Noctourniquet, no twenty minute songs, or crazed guitar riffs. But as a Mars Volta fan, I find that refreshing, rather than annoying. My guess is that the people that enjoy TMV for its complexities have less appreciation for the challenge of simplicity.
Check out Braniac. They were an amazing band out of Ohio but unfortunately the singer died in a car crash right before their major label debut came out.
I literally bought Deloused because I saw the album cover in an FYE in like 2006. Never heard of the band before. What a gift from the gods.
They just casually reference the most obscure music and it's awesome
Omar looks 15
Cedric looks like his pet..
To think their benchmark record was 2003 and he looks like that
Omar is 15 minutes old
@@gundamwing7781 he's 13 seconds old
Its a year of the Rabbit thing
Noctourniquitre is the last thing my twin brother gave to me and that makes it my favorite album I love it
Sad and love bro
Honestly, I do that all the time.
And sometimes I'm really disapointed because it's nothing like the cover.
But The Mars Volta, oh man. I just remember Comatoriums cover, so awesome, and then the music was just as good. Man I love that album.
These guys are always interesting to hear from. Plus Cedric looks like Tim Burton's mexican cousin.
I'm glad real music nerds like these guys also search for music based on great album covers. Now I don't feel as silly.
real music nerds might as well enjoy the simplest things in life, sorry for the delay lol
I really like the new album. They continue to experiment, which is what I love about them. They're similar to Radiohead in that each album is different. They lose and pickup new fans along the way. They keep their sound fresh, and always put on an amazing live show.
it's amazing these guys will go down as GOATs , from ATDI to the Mars Volta, these men are royalty
Me too! Also great band names or album titles.
Omar has one of those weird accents where it's hard to tell if he actually has an accent.
Mexican accent

@@ms.glorimar I was in a lot of middle schools through out my life in Puerto Rico and I recognize that accent well.
You fucking racist piece pf shit
@@nicolasaguilargonzalez8583 Hey tf is that racist
how ironic, just checked the status of my vinyl copy of Noctourniquet and it says that it should be in the mail when I get home! Excellent!
it's been years since i've listened to brainiac!
my favorite vinyl I own is Nocturniquet.
lol imagine working in a record store and Cedric comes in and asks for your advice. I'd fucking shit myself

You have that on vinyl?? That’s sick

Just letting y’all know in 2022 during their Zane Lowe Apple Music interview, that man still has Forever Babyface
The music Machine Turn on is a badass album

This is probably the only song I liked on Noctourniquet. Maybe it'll grow on me.
+Ryan Smith Not yet, but I haven't given up on it.
vinyl tasty!
Wait, they are fans of Destroyer? As in, Dan Bejar? Awesome!
The album Destroyer by KISS is what he meant.
Merlijn Toby Kiss' destroyer, produces by Bob Ezrin Cedric is a huge fan

4:16 cerdic answers weird...
Manager: (do not support other bands...)
Most people that say that say TMV lost them at Octahedron. Is that were they lost you too?
OCtahedron has some great tracks. Since we've been wrong, Teflon, With twilight as my guide, Desperate Graves.
truly sad they grew apart. the mars volta can never die though...
brainiac! fuck yes!
Yeah yeah, could be. Fortunately, you're not required to keep liking them, but I guess it'd be disappointing. What would you rather see them do? Or are you just tired of them?
I always hear this from people. What changed for you?

Man, how prophetic this comment ended up being. This applies to their newest album more so than Noctourniquet even
hey uuuh.... can I get uuuh.... mars volta?
Wtf was happening to cedric at that time!
Being a great The Mars Volta fan, I don't know ANY of the artists they mention... except Leonard Nimoy. Poor old mainstreem me.....
Check out Braniac. They were an amazing band out of Ohio but unfortunately the singer died in a car crash right before their major label debut came out.
Discogs would fulfill all their record collecting needs..
Two sides of Leonard Nimoy is the title
*you're
Sorry, had to be done.
Cedric looks like he's on the brink of a nervous breakdown. Relax guy!
0:19 Love the music, not a fan of the melody.
Banda de 1 álbum 😂😂😂😂😂😂
that's not ironic, it's a coincidence.
I feel bad for the guys at this point in their career. You can tell they seem kinda washed out. Maybe I'm wrong, but thats how I see it
Draped , huh.
Four hundredth and twentieth like, nice
not if they're dumb kids.
