if he had a book ,i'd buy it.
This guy has a very nice philosophy .
He is so inspiring, he's the reason I'm not scared of making and composing songs. I don't care about song structure, about mistakes etc. Just try to make what YOU think sounds good and use music as an outlet of your thoughts.
Great interview!!
Hey, same here! I think of him when I start to become too self conscious about anything. Twelve years later, I found you here. I hope you're well. ✌️
omar's favorite words "thats just what it is"
I love this guy.
Such a true human being.
People with brilliant minds seem to meditate or have this piece and just enjoy “BEING”.
omar, i love you.
I love the way he laughs after all of his deepest responses
Omar Rodriguez-Lopez: The Most Interesting Man In The World. "I Don't Normally Write Music For Fans, But When I Do, I Blow Minds."
I am that stranger Omar. And you've made me so happy.
I love his little laugh 😆
omar is a fucking genius
7:40 the Soothsayer trying to make contact
omar is a great person Id rather meet omar than Oprah, he makes me feel less insecure, and he helps the days when i cant help myself feel content with being less of a perfectionist.
@MrLeoromero Es un genio!!! Me encanta saber q soy de Puerto Rico :) este hombre es una de las razones por cual amo la musica.
the best part about mars volta interviews are the theories and philosophies that omar has..they make you look at music and even life in general a whole new way
Wow, this whole video was a great lesson about life and self.
He's one inspiring person... and even though i completely agree with him, i find it almost impossible to come up with the same kind of motivation
So down to earth
After listening to these freak beat interviews by Omar, the respect for him in my eyes has gone a notch higher. I mean he is not only a good musician, he also seems like a good person. Infact, he is much more than just a musician, director or writer.
Hats off to Omar !!
That was amazing - I was watching this interview before I'm going to bed and he reminded me of setting my alarm! Incredible irony Omar!
QUE MARAVILLOSO ESTE SER HUMANO!!!!! QUE MARAVILLA!!
this is a good interview
i could listen to him all day long ledgend
practice, experience and a well developed ear work better than theory
Theory is just an explanation of what you just described. If you try to find creativity within the theory, you will generally come up short.
Fuuuuck! Never heard a man speak like this man before. Seriously. Omar's a straight fuckin' philosopher man. He's so under-rated in everything he does. And so humble and modest. Whether he likes the idea or not, he is one of the most intelligent and talented people ever. On the real.
UN TIPAZO!!!!
Very nice interview :D I was getting tired of reading the same questions on all the magazines.
he is amazing
I love Omar.
wow! yes, very intimate interview. :D
towards the end he was reminding me of my hispanic manager
He was talking about us as a generation. We have the ability to send a fucking text message around the world in seconds...we ALL have it easy now.
Minus the fro and glasses my brother totally looks like Omar
Awesome interview!
Lmao Got to roll a blunt in the morning, ah I love Omar
he has to use metaphors a lot to get his point ...its a universal language..some get and some just cant..im glad i can
A-W-E-S-O-M-E
6:56 he used that same metaphor later at big day out 2010
imagine doing saicodelicos whit this dude
blows my mind how such a young man can be so wise. He talks like he rolls bjj. Humble and aware.
@ilikefunk haha, i think it was actually "blah, blah, blah"
I think it does more to keep me sane than it hurts me, or else i'd just be brooming over with sexual frustration.
Great interview.
And 9004807, I think you'll hear many repected musicians say they're proud of mistakes. Like he said, it moves you forward and helps you learn when you make a mistake.
It's valuable to fail.
hes so damn intelligent. he reminds me of snowden somehow
good watch
qué bravo jajaja
pretty inspiring words
wow, didn't know my comment was so high even though i've changed my mind since then.
I wanna meet cedric and omar so bad.
hes is amazing. but i think music is special Omar!!! lol
Good Interview.
i can't even see her face haha
he needs to do 4:54 more often onstage
He's an intellectual, but he contradicted himself, by saying how can I make someone happy half way across the world?
Regardless, even if you've never heard music, it will remain as universal.
In my opinion.
Word!
we are all part of it
@frykitty37 i hear the cell phone signal feedback but its very subtle when i hear it
@ilikefunk haha! that was way too observant but I can understand why you heard that
7:38 Is that the beginning of Ouroboros?
4:10 Omar foreseeing the Mars Volta breakup
que machin se las terapeo xD
OPTIMISM!!!!!!
Doing it now, actually.
@Jalkotsu What do you mean?
@HoracioGo15 id buy it too.. he know what music is
composing is putting a bucket a under a leaking sink.
FUTURE> > > they are doing what OMAR is talking about. TMV is a ray of light.
@maestrostring00 I was thinking the same thing !
so i take it ur looking up every omar interview, dissecting it, and refuting every one of his opinions? wonderful use of time
Hmm no word on Thomas Pridgen...
Great Interview nonetheless!
cool interview but she shoulda membered the questions she was askin
@ilikefunk he said "blah blah blah"
that girl is gorgeous
But you still have to feed your dog?
@HoracioGo15 FUCK. Me too.
@HoracioGo15 If he had a book I wouldn't buy it
I don't think The Mars Volta get any flak from the fans. Regardless, EVERY TMV album has at least one song any person would like.
@TMVowns No he's not
is that a pack of camel crush on the left counter?
that's exactly what u should do man ... AMEN ... i'm sick of hearing the same thing over and over again ...
I wonder what are his mistakes
cigarettes?
I feel like what he says in this interview is kind of larger than life, and that the people entering at the end and the time running out is incredibly disrespectful or something.
has anyone asked this fool what he listens to?
He's said he listens to cumbia, salsa, etc. for the most. He's got some rock influences, but, being from Puerto Rico, he's keen to tropical music.
He must have been baked. He goes off on a tangent and dodges every question. Which he should, because the questions are pretty stupid to anyway.
blah blah blah, is what he's saying.
he tryna score wid da 2 birds good game tho
No matter what the question is, Omar always has a quality answer and story about it. He's a genius.
