Fair play to Lance winning all those tour de France's I couldn't even find my bike when I was on drugs lol
Legendary comment! Congrats Sir! 🙂
I imagine vindication for Kimmage was an incredibly liberating feeling, something that he knew would eventually come but just didn't know when.
Kimmage is a legend.
With that sort of legends...well...look at this world...
low bar for a "legend"
@@nathanielkahn9681 Nope, Armstrong can get fucked
@captain pugwash Please read carefully, I did not defend him. Everything you said is true, but I never said otherwise
@captain pugwash I'm not sure why you are telling me this? Maybe meant to reply to someone else?
"A brave man is a man who dares to look the Devil in the face and tell him he is a Devil." - James A. Garfield
not what happened here
Paul Kimmage is one of the best investigative journalists that has ever been involved in cycling. He persisted through thick and thin, even when Lance and Team Sky mounted vicious legal battles to suppress his exposés. The lickspittles journalist crew who chuckled away at the end of this clip should be ashamed of themselves and their enabling of Armsrong.
are you and him the biggest morons of all time?
I guess Kimmage get's the last laugh.
Not really. Armstrong is still worth millions and Kimmage is a popper.
That is a perfect example of how hard it was to take Lance down. When I hear people say Lance was unfairly singled out I point to cases like this that have nothing to do with the fact he doped. It is all about his constant character assassinations ("you are not worth the chair you are sitting on") that he did to Paul Kimmage, David Walsh, Emma O'Reilly, the Andreau's etc., etc., etc. Lance has got everything he deserves.
Armstrong was a master manipulator with powerful rhetoric and at his core a total bully that i would argue most hyper successful men are. That said he also he raised millions for cancer treatment. Im not arguing that one cancels the other, but it makes the lore of Armstrong very strange and conflicted. Other fraudsters make and steal money and leave victims, Armstrong made millions for cancer patients while defrauding corporate sponsors who made millions themselves on viewership. It’s all very weird.
But thats no way to run a sport. You only lose your titles for doping if you also are a prick personally. Dope all you want as long as your nice to people, you can keep your titles. Its ludicrous
Funny thing, the sponsor AMGEN (a pharmaceutical company displayed in the back) is one of the leading producers of EPO in the world!
Caravanaserai chronic EPO use combined with steroids = cancer
The nervous laugh from the crowd at the end, sycophants. As we all were at the time, myself included. This was when lance was at peak popularity, an absolute superstar. It took character to up against that in such a public forum.
Proud to be Irish. Well done Paul Kimmage
Paul Kimmage's persistence paid off. Armstrong is everything you don't want your child to be - a creep.
Nothing but admiration for Paul Kimmage.
He made a stand and sacrificed his own reputation to expose a cheat when those around him fell silent.
I hope RTE puts his documentary on the RTE Player so more people can see it.
Well done Paul and keep exposing the truth.
nothing to admire
@@nathanielkahn9681 to hide the truth is admirable is it?
@@oliver69cork46 i dont know what you mean
they all cheat you moron so his entire career would be nothing but talking shit to cheaters? thats every single athlete. you ppl are dumb af
It's amazing that there were people actually laughing Kimmage off. Ridiculous! Bravo Paul!
I lost my Mum to cancer. I have no reason to have to forgive Kimmage for anything. He is courageous in his journalism. Keep up the good work.
R.I.P
especially when you stop and think about HGH making cancer (or tumors) grow faster, which he has admited taking before his diagnosis. RIP to your mother.
1:33 Neither are you, Lance
Hincapie and Leipheimer, the thousand yard stare...I can't wait for the day it all comes out!
Great observation.
It all came out indeed!
When Lance says 'noble' I lost it.
Notice how all y'all who supported Armstrong are very quiet.
+killboggins millions of dumb asses still admire lance
tiehut millions of dumbasses are dumbasses
I supported that asshole all 7 tours I rooted for that Texas fraud. After it was revealed I emailed that scum that he cheated me out of 7x3=21 weeks of life. I only recently started following cycling again thanks to this arrogant prick. Yes i too believed his great lies he was so persuasive and was smart enough to use cancer to cover his lies. A sick psychopath who I think needs to do some jailtime for fraud. A French jail please. LIESTRONG! Btw every brand he has worn I stay away from.
The biggest problem is they all doped. Lance was the best cyclist during his time. Don't forget, 87% of the riders who placed below Armstrong in the top 20 during the tour were popped for doping.
I never liked Armstrong.
You do have to give Lance credit for one thing: he is one of the greatest scam artists in American history. Kudos, Paul Kimmage.
The biggest problem is they all doped. Lance was the best cyclist during his time. Don't forget, 87% of the riders who placed below Armstrong in the top 20 during the tour were popped for doping.
@@rockymountainhigh9379 he wasnt the best cyclist at the time or even close. He came nowhere when he and others were clean. Even he admits this. The only advantage he had over others is that he had a better doping system . Get your facts right.
@@Unborn-Stillborn Scam, you're obviously a rookie cycling fan. Being a lance hater is fine and jealousy is a natural human instinct however anyone that is a veteran cyclist and cycling fan knows my facts are correct. Spew your hatred but we all know no one could beat Lance in his prime. The guy was beating the best pro triathletes in the world when he was 16. Get a clue scam.
@@rockymountainhigh9379 armstrong was a national triathlon champion 1989 and 1990. Never a world champion. Which all has nothing to do with his cycling stats. He was nowhere in cycling until he juiced, unless you think you know more that the people who called him out on these stats. But i get it, you probably still have a yellow wrist band and find it hard to accept that he was nothing but a lying cheating bully.
@@Unborn-StillbornScam, you are going to lose this debate. Without debate Lance destroyed the competition for 7 years. Please give up now. Do your research and you can agree with me afterwards.
The look at 0:56 on Hincapie and Leipheimer is like "duhhhhhh." They know he doped and they're just caught in the headlights.
Great to see Paul finally vindicated after all these years!
Yep.
Inspirational. It takes an immense effort to exude such self-confidence and repress all self-doubt during an interrogation.
I challenge anyone here to do this and then skilfully manipulate the crowd against the questioner.
A masterful performance by Armstrong.
Mr. Kimmage was moderately successful in racing himself, in Europe and a bit in America. He has written an excellent book, "A Rough Ride," which examines racing and the doping situation in some depth. It's difficult to hear the dialogue in this video. Is there a transcript available?
What a disgrace, Not so smart now is he? Good Riddance and well done to Paul for having the brevity to confront him about it!
Gerard O'Connor brevity?
Gerard O'Connor brevity has nothing to do with being brave.
It is that diplomatic, fair and respectful attitude that makes Lance so admired by so many people. Watching a true gentleman deal with sleazy press is a joy. I wish Lance all the best.
Lol
This comment didn't age well 🤣
Nice to see Lance's dumb and naive apologists have been silenced. Kudos to Paul Kimmage for doing the brave thing and confronting that malignant cheat Armstrong.
+Robot Lover millions of dumb asses still admire lance
I think it was Armstrongs lying which drove Robin Williams to take his own life
Thanks for posting up the full version rather than just the St. Lance retort.
It puts context on Kimmage's 'Cancer' comment.
Lance spent much of his best years in cycling making statements to appear above many people. He always made it seem like everybody else was on such a lower moral ground than him, that they were such horrible people. The fact is a cancer is a malignant growth or tumour, and Lance was exactly that. How things have changed since this occurred in 2009. One cannot underestimate how much of a battering Lance's ego will have taken in 2012, and rightly so. David Walsh and Paul Kimmage, we salute you.
idiot you got it backwards ppl attacked lance for doing what everyone else did and does to this day, sorry he's not a bitch like you
Paul Kimmage, Every true fan of cycling around the world thanks you for your work against drug cheats ........ Really honestly you have done an incredible thing you are a man of true character. THANK YOU PAUL
I love George and Levi's expression "mommy and daddy are fighting!" lol
Mr. Kimmage, you sir are a hero and have my utmost respect.
George Hincapie with that Thousand-yard stare.
Will you give him that interview now, Lance?
Pure excellence. I'd love to sit Lance down, and play this to him over and over.
Interesting the comments by Armstrong about Landis not feeling like he has anything to be sorry for. How times have changed!! Bravo Kimmage, for standing up for the good of the sport.
My heart goes out to the guy.
Excellent response!
All three should have had a custodial sentence , the same as Marion Jones,,,
Armstrong dug himself a MUCH bigger hole with that interview and pwned himself royally! Paul Kimmage and David Walsh are LEGENDS.
“You’re not worthy of the chair you’re sitting in.”
And you’re not worthy of any of the shit you won.
I laugh at this every time I watch it. The cheat got caught......finally! You could see the anger and sheer arrogance in his face!
Interesting to watch the reactions of fellow dopers Hincapie, Leipheimer and Basso sitting next to Armstrong.
All Ferrari’s boys
Oh, the backdrop is perfect! (Amgen is the producer of EPO.)
you gotta love those corporate sponsors..!
They were head over heels in love with him, for sure. I like how Armstrong tries to twist Kimmages objections to doping into an attack on cancer victims. What a butthead.
“You don’t have a patent on cancer” perfect response
Kimmage is one of the top European sports writers, multi award winning and usually extremely witty. He wrote a great book about cycling which mentioned doping from is personal perspective.
He was an Irish champion cyclist as was his father, uncles and brothers. Cycling means a lot to him and he seems to be the only journalist in the world that cares about stopping Doping in cycling.
People want to hang him for his use of a metaphor rather than listen to what he has to say.
This comment aged like a fine wine..
The level of righteousness is quite unbelievable and I hope history remembers the good guy with integrity and courage long after the hypocrite and deceiver is forgotten.
Actually man never thought about it like that, great point!
George and Levi were just staring off into space lol
It´s easier to forgive than forget
but it´s hard if ya
never ever give up!
Maybe its easy to say now but the thoughtful, sometimes awkward, looks on the faces of Hincapie and Leipheimer when Armstrong is talking are intriguing to say the least
Right on man!.
i'm just curiious is there anywhere on youtube I can see this????
paul my man ,time just shows the real truth that you have spoken all along
Was anybody able to make out what the reporter was saying at the end?
Yes he did dope when he was cycling. His book 'a rough ride' is a great sports book and in it he tells of why and how he doped in detail.
Very appropriately named.
Im just watching document called "the armstrong lie" and had to come here to watch this.
Paul Kimmage, you saved cycling. Balls of steel
@u368 just by your response i know not to read it. what's the point of reading an article that said Lance tested positifve for EPO when there's no proof that he has?
Love the look on Phil Liggett's face, I believe then he knew then that Kimmage was right, and he was.
Paul, please take on dopers in the animal sport world, horse and dog racing.
love it great comment
Hincapie, Leipheimer (both dopers) and every member of the press in that room should bow down and beg Kimmage's forgiveness. He and Walsh (and the savvie people of the sport) knew the truth and I don't doubt there were people in that audience who knew it too but chose to ignore it, all because of this 'idol' called Armstrong.
Perfect example of this horrible man's despicable behaviour
it's so funny how VDV is just rolling his eyes lmao!!
maybe not disgust but perhaps guilt. he knew that Paul Kimmage was speaking the truth.
thanks to Paul Kimmage and David Walsh for their persistence and their courage in exposing the horrible truth about drug cheats,, two great Irish journalist who would not allow themselves to be bullied into silence
Sport needs more heroes like Paul Kimmage. He's more of a hero than Lance Armstrong ever will be!
Who is right now
I like your comments.
The fact of the matter is that was an era where everyone was doping.
lol at the guy rolling his eyes @3:00
Haha all the other Americans and riders up there look soooooo uncomfortable like George, Levi, etc.
By the way. the journalist in question is paul kimmage. a former pro cyclist who has ridden the tour de france on 3 occasions as a pro and was a respected team player during the 80's. his book, rough ride is very well worth a read.
"I'm not sure that anyone around the world that has been affected by this disease will forgive you."
If Paul was a US journalist they would have been a Hollywood blockbuster about him ☘️🇮🇪🇮🇪
There is a certain irony in realising that AMGEN actually produce EPO on a commercial scale...
paul kimmage fucking legend
Haha. Brilliant!
Wow, Lance Armstrong never ceases to amaze. On the bike fighting diseases and well that was one hell of an interview.
That wasn't an interview. What it was, was classic Armstrong bullying tactics.
Paul Kimmage is the greatest
Another Idol with Clay Feet..!
The bigger picture is what he did for those suffering from cancer. Maybe he was more motivated to dope to bring in more money for his foundation. Then, so what.
Lance, in spite of cheating (as many others) you are still an amazing man who has SAVED many lives and put millions of bums on bikes.People who are significantly fitter and healthier, living longer lives for the the loved ones and and and.
Good on you Lance!!!
Jonathan Taff maybe next Lance can advocate young athletes to turn away from the doping that in all likelihood contributed to his cancer in the first place.
TOTAL VINDICATION for Paul Kimmage.
Kimmage I meant!
Fair play Paul
Yes, spot on there Hayes. Armstrong isn't usually challenged directly. I agree with many others though that Kimmage could have used a less contentious choice of words. But he's also right, Armstrong doesn't have "a patent on cancer"
Congrats Paul Kimmage & David Walsh - you never stood down from your convictions - sweet vindication
thats because he's standing up. (yep that was a play on words)
1999 - failed corticosteroid test. Same tour - 6 piss sample positive for EPO.
Take a bow Paul Kimmage!
Correction:
Kimmage 1, Armstrong -7
Why did he start ranting about cancer when the reporter asked about doping?
Vindicated
The very least he owes him is an apology
Sociopaths don't apologize so I wouldn't hold my breath if I was Kimmage.
This place is full of experts. How about we let the professionals who have all the facts do the job.
take a bow Paul Kimmage.
Support Kimmage. Make a donation (however small) to his defence fund.
Kimmage doped too, am i right or wrong?
I'd completely missed him too until a comment hearing a comment from, I think, Walsh. He'd apparently 'come out' about the USPS doping when his young son started talking about getting into procycling... and was then vilified in is own country on 'talk radio' etc, (not so much by Lance, himself). When the truth became known, New Zealand to their great credit named him 'Man of the Year' for his whistleblowing.
