I grew up in Orlando during the dwight era and went to a bunch of playoff games. Dwight at his peak was just better than AD at his peak. 3 time defensive player of the year and was consistently in the playoffs against Detroit, Boston, and Cleveland and usually top 3 record in the conference. AD does not have something close to that on his resume unless rings mean that much.

I think being the best defender and 2nd best offensive player on a championship team that was predicated on its defense is a pretty big deal.
And really good bigs without a great distributor often struggle in the playoffs. If you look at the teams where the best player was a power forward or center, the teams that won in playoffs always had at least one really good guard to take care of the ball handling duties. Barkley had Kevin Johnson, Duncan had Parker and ginobili, Hakeem had drexler one year and had a strong group of good point guards in Sam Cassell and Kenny Smith, and obviously Shaq had Kobe.

Yeah I think the finals run alone makes Howard over Anthony Davis. Howard although he is criminally underrated is being underrated by Nick. Anthony Davis although he is a great defensive player was not the player that Howard is and they should switch spots . I think that Howard is a four time call five MVP it’s either three or four. He has multiple rebounding and block titles . Like a three or four defensive player of the year. That’s not even including his all NBA and defensive first teams. He obviously is a better defender and it yes Anthony Davis has a more advanced game and Dwight Howard is nowhere near the Game as far as like shooting in scoring and versatility but he was just as dominant if not more than Anthony Davis in his prime offensively . I think people forget he was basically putting up 20 and 10 with basically no offense of game that’s really impressive. The cherry on top is Anthony Davis never made a finals run or even a conference finals run as the best player in New Orleans even though they had some really good players but Dwight Howard made the finals with an amazing finals run beating LeBron and almost beating the Lakers. I would argue he should probably be in the 30s if not higher

  • @henryjosuesanchezzelaya142

So he is not regarding body of work and consistency very high unfortunately. If the average career of an NBA player is say 13 years, is hard for me to believe that there are no more players that were top 5 for a longer stretch than Dwight or AD. Also we know that we could pick a lot of players to join LeBron and they still win the title. It has to be put into context that AD rested for 5 entire months before putting in those numbers, you cannot just take that away.

Nice using averages for AD doesn’t make any sense, Nick the reason he’s so high all time with those stats is because the all time greats play so long there last handful of seasons destroy there career stats, so of course there are only 10 guys who have averaged 20 and 10, becuase great guys (Shaq for example) had 5 terrible seasons that rank those stats
Of course he’s top 10 in playoff scoring, you know who else is top 10 in playoff scoring? Donovan Mitchell (actually top 5) and Luka will be in after this postseason as well, the averages ALWAYS favor the current younger players because they haven’t had there bad seasons yet…
