Part 1: Jet Ski Traction Mat Replacement Made Easy

In this video let me show you a relatively easy way to remove the adhesive and prep your 2007 Kawasaki STX-12F Jet Ski for new traction mats. Be sure to wear safety gear, keep the solvents away from open flames, and use plenty of ventilation.

I removed my mats, and to get the glue off, I used 'goo gone' in the spray gel composition. Sprayed it on, let it sit for a few minutes, then took my razor scraper and gently ran it up the glued area. Peeled the glue off effortlessly. Just be careful with the scraper to not dig in to the surface, but the stuff is oily so it helps it glide. Besides, even if you do nick the clear-coat, it's under the mat anyhow! I even used it on the back side of the old mat, and it worked just as well. Use some soap and water to clean it.
