Do you need to export Water Modelling details done with Bentley WaterGems or Water Hammer to Civil 3D and Navisworks for Clash Detection?
Now you can do it with ESurvey Water Distribution Module and an additional Custom Solution developed by ESurveying Softech.
You can convert Bentley WaterGems Design as a Civil 3D Pipe Network with Pipe Data using the add-on developed by ESurveying, even if you have a pressured network.
Bentley WaterGems Software is one of the Popular Water Modelling Software. Once you do the design in WaterGems, there may be requirements to bring the Pipe Network to Civil 3D, primarily for Clash detection. In many Infra Projects, teams use Civil 3D, and Navisworks for designing most of the utilities and Bentley WaterGems is the preferred choice for many water modellers. To do the Clash detection with other utilities like Sewer, Storm, Electrical in Navis work, Bentley WaterGems data has to be brought to Civil 3D. If the design is done for Gravity Network in Bentley, through Land XML, you can import the pipe details into Civil 3D. There is no provision to export or import Land XML Files into Civil 3D in a pressured network.
ESurveying develops a solution for this specific problem.
Import the output files from Water Gems Software in the Water Distribution Module to start the process. That is DXF File and the Excel Template File with Pipe Details, Node Details, Valve and Reservoir. This module can create Longitudinal sections with predefined constraints like Pipe lengths, Types of pipes, application of restricted bends and Fittings, Maintaining cover depth, etc.
Once the data is imported and Processed in ESurvey Water Module, the 3D Plan tab allows the user to see the whole pipe network in 3D, which you can export to CAD packages.
Using ESurvey Civil 3D Add-on, the exported Pipe Details of Water Distribution Module will be imported as Pipes in Civil 3D with Pipe Attributes.
After designing alignments in the Water Distribution module, you can export the pipe and alignment Details from Water distribution to CSV files. Using exported Data files, you can create network and alignment in Civil 3D.
You have to export two data sets from the water distribution module: Alignment Data and Pipe Details.
In Plan 3D Tab, click on the “Export Pipes” Icon. The program will export the PIPE.CSV file to the “C:\ESurvey\Temp” Folder.
Similarly, click on the “Export Alignment” Icon. The program will export WDALIGNMENT.CSV to the “C:\ESurvey\Temp” Folder.
Now, open Civil 3d. You have to Prepare data for Civil 3D Before Importing the Data.
First, Prepare Part Family in the TOOL SPACE window, go to Pipe Network, Right-click on Network and select Create Pipe Network by Layout Option. Civil 3D will popup Create Pipe Network window. In the ‘Create Pipe Network’ window, create the Network Part List required for the current Project. Select any Part Size from Parts List. Create all the Pipes with the Diameter needed for the Project.
After Creating Pipe Network - You have to Create a Site.
Right, Click on Site Item in Tool Space. Create a Site with the Name ‘Site1’.
We have to load the Civil 3D connector Application.
    Use Command Net Load
There are two commands in this program
    1. CreatePipeNetwork
    2. CreateAlignments
We have already exported Pipe Details from Water Distribution. Now type ‘CreatePipeNetwork’ in Civil 3D. The program will create all the Pipes by importing data from the Pipe.CSV, available in Temp Directory. It will assign Part Size as defined in the linking program.
Creating Pipe Network in Civil 3D is that Simple.
We have already exported Alignment data from Water Distribution Module, and we have done all the prerequisite steps like creating a Site called Site1. By Running the CreateAlignments command, the program will make all the alignments in Civil 3D.
