  • After 3 fun days in Shanghai it was time to fly home to Sydney.
After catching the High Speed Maglev Train to the Airport, it was a short walk to Terminal 1 for Check-In.
Even though I only had Carry-On baggage, I still needed to collect a boarding pass, as it was not provided when doing Online Check-In.
Boarding Pass in hand, then through Security, Immigration and upstairs to VIP Lounge 36 (China Eastern).
Food & Cocktails range was good, certainly not to the standard of Qantas First, but it did the job to chill out before the flight.
One thing with PVG airport, it is massive. When walking to the gate you could not see the end of the Terminal until 2-3 gates away.
I already knew it was a totally full flight, so no empty 60J next to me.
Soon after boarding, and with the doors closed my seat mate mentioned his wife was in seat 24J, and at the same time the Cabin Supervisor was doing her introduction. Whilst I try and avoid the bulkhead row on the A333 (due to less legroom with the bulkhead, plus a high chance there will be babies with the Bassinet position nearby). I offered to move, which was done once we had taken off and reached cruising altitude.
And yes, there was a screaming baby...
Aside from meal times, I spent a good portion of the flight standing in the back Galley talking to the crew.
A huge shoutout to Amanda the CSS onboard, and ALL the crew down the back. Aside from the great conversation, I got to try one of the new drinks served in Business Class, plus looked after with an Iced Coffee from up the front of the aircraft... The little things matter, and it is what @Qantas do so well.
Overall another great flight, and it was sad to hear this week that the QF129/QF130 flights to/from Shanghai will be suspended from late July.

The lack of any footage out the window, or during landing was due to the seat change from 60K to 24J.
I did manage to get a little bit of footage when the passenger in 24K left there seat for a bathroom break.

It’s interesting that Qantas is pulling this route because if apparent low demand yet your flight is full.

This flight was taken in the middle of School Holidays, and just after the F1 Grand Prix was raced. I thought the same given my flight to PVG was mostly full a few days prior.

It's a shame Qantas is suspending this route, when it appears flights were operating near capacity.

Apparently they weren't, on average only 50-60% at best. My 2 flights were in school holidays, and on F1 Grand Prix weekend. Fingers crossed it resumes sooner rather than later.

Too bad QF is pulling out of China shortly from now.

Hopefully demand will increase sooner rather than later.
