In March 2023, I flew from Hong Kong to New York JFK with Cathay Pacific. While I've done a lot of Cathay Pacific flight reviews previously, this is actually my first time flying Cathay Pacific long haul Business Class, and therefore, I was super looking forward to this flight. And now, join me as we unveil my flight experience from Hong Kong to JFK onboard CX844.

Great review, appreciate the detail. In your video you said you prefer the privacy of the smaller cabin, do you find that overall it is a better experience? Also would you recommend 2 window seats or 2 seats in the middle for a couple? Going to be flying this exact layout. TIA!

Although I choose Cathay business every time I travel between HKG and JFK, I have to say that their service is really average and I feel like every flight attendant was kind of like forced to go to work lol😂 Less friendly than other 5 star Asian airlines

Love it Ken and for the A350-900/-1000 they are way better than the old A340-600 which used to do New York to Hong Kong nonstop. CX844 returns to HKG as CX841 the 10am departure my mother did it on November 29th 2022
Haha... yes indeed, the A350s are state-of-the-art aircrafts... But if I had a chance, I would want to fly on CX A340-600!
Actually changing the breakfast is because of our DM request to change. It is a good change and because if you are DM and fly a lot in long haul flight and you did not expect to have a 2 hours breakfast procedure. I think because of you are very young of a DM and you cannot experience the real DM flying a lot in long haul every month and their experience. A young DM or DM which is mile run will expected a very special DM beneift and expected your experience is better than other. But for a DM which always fly because of business need and they expected to have a good reset for the flight in order to work on arrival

I have flown that flight in economy. Total nightmare! They treat you like cattle if you aren’t in 1st class!
Agreed with you about service and food, BA and QR both provide better in J now imo - better food, and served as individual courses.
Haha... thanks for watching! While I think QR food are served nicely, I doubt if the food in BA JCL are really that good haha... But yes, CX should make some improvements in terms of their F&B offerings!

Cathay uses “late night departures “ as an excuse to serve “light” meal! As an airline food critic I think Cathay’s offering is cheap and unacceptable. Too obvious just an excuse to save money. Listen Cathay’s CEO (I do have a problem with this guy!): it may be a late night flight but to go with a full meal or a light meal or not is MY choice- you don’t decide for me so you should offer that choice! And my god pork chop for dinner when you are paying $70k(?) for this seat? Come on Cathay you can do better!! As I travel now mostly for leisure my top airlines are: Singapore, Japan n the 3 Middle East ones.
Well... my ticket was way cheaper than $70k haha... But indeed, it is a bad excuse and perhaps I should also write to CX regarding the service flow... Thanks for the comment!
@@MarcoPoloClubFlyer I don’t even bother to write them anything. I choose CX or HKE when I fly short distances with no expectations. If I fly longer I go to my default choices as mentioned, for quality service and food!
If I were you, I won’t take CX for long haul flight as their service, in flight meal etc are deteriorating. Another crucial point is their quality of pilots as many experienced senior pilots have been laid off during COVID. I do not have much confidence on this airline anymore. If flying to USA, I will choose to transit either in Seoul or Tokyo to break the journey and the business business class services of the Japan and Korean carriers are way much better than CX.
How much money you spend on this flight?
What I don’t understand is you’re not showing a true business class travel experience, why are you in a first class lounge.

When 9100 hkd for the salary of the crew. What else do you expect 😂
