- Blackheart Models has added some exciting new sculpts to their Trek Micro Mania Bust collection. I thought this would be a great time to revisit these fantastic busts. In this video we take a peek at their new additions and I choose Kor and the Keeper from The Cage to paint and detail. I provide information on how I approach painting them and applying shadows and highlights. The video concludes with a look at the painted busts. Also included is a look at the bust of Ruk that I finished last month for Orange Con.

Hey Oggie, your painting technique is outstanding and you've really caught the appearance and essence of the characters. It's really great that nearly 60 years on, we can still find cool stuff from such a great TV show.
Isn't that amazing...Star Trek lives on and on. Thanks for your kind comments
Excellent paint job Doc! Love what you did with the shadows and highlights. Thanks for sharing Oggie. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
Thank you Peter
Great and informative video as always Oggie. All the busts look great; Kor has always been my favorite Klingon and you captured him perfectly.
Hey Tony...thanks so much
Thank you! I have a backlog of busts building up but I have been hesitant to get started. Watching your technique has taken away some of the mystery for me. I very much appreciate it.
You are so welcome, and thanks for the watching
Love all of these busts. Always knocking them out of the park buddy!!

Both figures are amazing, you really are good at figures! The likeness is spot on to the original characters.

Outstanding Oggie.
Thanks So much
Outstanding job, Oggie. I've been doing a number of figures lately and working to improve my flesh tones and skin realism. I envy your eye painting skills but do appreciate the anatomy lesson. haha. Keep up the great work. Cheers, Virgil.
Thanks Chris.....always time for anatomy. Appreciate the kind words
Excellent sculps.
They are, thanks so much for watching
@@InterstellarModeler I also meant to write that your painting of them was masterful, but I pressed reply before I finished my comment.
Wish these were available in the UK, ☹️. Excellent paint job, I love painting figures. I do find though in painting heads it does help a lot if you have a well sculpted face.
Thank you Mark
Very cool!
thanks
Michael Dorn's "Worf" wore the exact same sash that John Colicos originally wore as "Captain / Military Governor Kor." Amazing the Costume Department still had the item available for use!
Wow...I knew it looked the same but wasn't aware it was the exact same piece. That is amazing.
Not the most entertaining to watch? Oggie, you can't help but be entertaining. You managed to make the boring-looking Talosian lady look interesting. I confess that I haven't looked around Black Heart Models as thoroughly as I should have until tonight. They have some nice Universal Monsters I was unaware of. Thanks for the great video!
Kevin...you are too kind...thanks so much. And yes... Blackheart has some great stuff. I would love to do a large sculpt at some point. Thanks for your kind words and for watching
Oggie your an inspiration to us all I'm going to have a go at CZcams I'm no we're near your quality I love it that's all matters keep up the good work any advice on opening a CZcams station 👌👌👌👍🏻
Thanks for your kind words Darren. I really appreciate it. As for starting a CZcams channel, some basic advice, be yourself. Being genuine will come through and people appreciate it. Try to see what u could do to make your content unique. Keep the viewer in mind and avoid being too lengthy. This can be tricky. Depends on what you’re trying to achieve. Teaching can only be condensed so far if you’re trying to demo something more complex. That said I try real hard for 25 min as a goal. I hope that helps. Feel free to email me if u have other questions 👍. Thanks again
Figures are great, on the Badger gray it is a bit dark I mix mine on 20 % gray and 60% white it give a light gray tint to the primer
excellent tip, thanks for the compliment too
What about add some clear epoxy to the eyes to give it that realistic gleam.
I've been told epoxy can yellow with time so I've stuck with clear coat for now. Have you had any issues with it yellowing? Thanks for watching
what is the dishwasher liquid mixed in for?
Helps to break surface tension allowing the wash to flow easier into recesses and textured areas.
