Serious question. Why do you always spoil it by showing the winner on the thumbnail? What is the point of watching the video to see the race unfold when the thumbnail gives the result away?
Bc the UCI sucks
@@Minwary I'd have to agree...
Management tells them
Excellent question!
Agreed
👏Great ride from all three men on the podium.
What a ride from Tom, loved the effort nino was putting out
Nino Schurter is a living legend.
You mean Neeno Shooter
But, nino hasn't won any stage in TOUR DE FRANCE right? Pidcock did...
Nino is 37....wow!
Love seeing pidcock win
Did you edit the clip during Van der Poel crash when the male announcer was praising him for being strong and powerful...bang..he went down...
Lol….the commentators curse
This was soo easy for Pidcock he was not even giving it 100%. Beast!
UCI, I had my fill of Flo Sports last year when MX Sports chose them as the streaming service for AMA Pro Motocross. How'd that work out? For whatever reason(s) Peacock is once again their choice for streaming.
Watching a tour de france rider come in and dominate a mountain bike race is awesome. Goes to show you how strong road riders are.
Number 1 and 2 in cyclocross worlds were the number 1 and 2 in the worlds road race. Never been seen before.
I think you meant to say that watching cyclo-cross riders come in and dominate road cycling is awesome. Goes to show you how strong cyclo-cross riders are. And some of them can also ride mountain bikes.
@@dabhanddave I didn’t know riders like Schurter, Absalon and Kulhavy were cyclecross riders. 😂
nice!!!
Olé...🚴🇪🇦🤘🏻
Video to short. Why only 3 minutes UCI ?
Their hit and miss approach to posting is so bloody frustrating.... Can go back and look at full coverage for a host of the live streamed events (eg road races, all cats and XCC, but not the Elite XCO grrrr!!
Because the UCI sucks
Woww
Do you guys think Nino and co just wait around till Tom comes and then kicks off the event in earnest or is Tom really that much better to be able to just ride up to the front all the time?
Why are there two MTB World Championships? I thought there was another one earlier this week in which Pidcock got bronze.
This is xco and the other is short track
Yes I'm confused too, I 'think' the other one was the short track event even thow that one was quite short as well 😵💫
As far as I understand it, the rule the UCI changed promoted MVDP closer to the front than Pidcock despite Tom doing and winning 1 or 2 world cups this year and Van Der Poel doing none if I remember correctly. So they should not have introduced this rule, but certainly I think if you win a World Cup you should at least be in the middle of the pack rather than right at the back.
Having said that, I’d like to see him ride most if not all of the World Cup next year. It would be pretty poor to not have the rainbow jersey in at least most of the races. We’ve seen world champions skip races before in preparation for Olympics or World Champs, but I’d like to see him do the majority.
No the problem was that they placed MVDP, Pidcock, and Sagan in a decent starting position although none of them is ranked high enough in the MTB world rankings. This being said, they're clearly the strongest riders here so depriving them of their chance to win the race by placing them all the way in the back would have been a shame
@@felixkreissl3385 I wouldn’t say it’s clear that Sagan is one of the strongest riders at all any more. And especially not in XC.
I think Sagan and MVDP should have been at the back, and Pidcock should have been somewhere in the middle because he’s won a race this season. I think that should be enough to get a decent starting position. And the UCI need to make that the rule.
@@christill oh yeah totally agree on Sagan, idk why they placed him in the middle. MVDP co-dominated the cyclocross this season though so I'm sure hadn't he crashed out he could have made the podium
VDP and Pidcock literally started right shoulder to shoulder. Your facts are wrong.
@@cup_and_cone Ok well I didn’t see them at the start. I’m just going by what I heard. Maybe I’ll go back and check. But the rest of my argument stands no matter what the start positions were.
Edit: I just watched the start again and they were a similar distance back but not next to each other at all. But yeah as I said. MVDP and Sagan should have started at the back and Pidcock in the midfield because he’s won a race this year. I think that would be fair.
Why did you stream the women's then leave us hanging on the men's race?
sexism in action. equal pay for all, but 1 is worth more than the other to TV and so needed to be held back for exclusivity?
or just laziness lol.
Men´s race stream was flawless. I saw everything. Of course I watched on GCN+
For goodness sake get some better commentators! Congratulations to the riders.
Cadel Evans won World cup in mtb and World champion on Road. Maybe Pidcock will win World champion on Road in the future too?
Don’t forget Pidcock also won an E-mtb world championship!
@@Pshady i think that its not most inportant win for him, but i can be wrong
Cadel Evans was juiced up to the gills bwa ha ha ha ha.
@@udxpierre no he wasn't , in fact he was probably the fist non doped winner of TDF for years. Maybe you can provide evidence to the contrary?
The commentator seemed so concerned about not being biased towards a British rider, he barely mentioned Pidcock before the race or during the first few laps when he was storming through the field. He's Olympic champion, for God's sake. He just finished third in the XCC. He's beaten Schurter before. None of this seemed to matter.
He's also got that annoying style I've heard from other cycling commentators, mainly at live races, when they feel they have to make a sound all the time and put weird stresses and emphases on unimportant words and then gabble through the important information. "And theeeee urrrr rrrriders AAarrrrrre approachinthbzzrdsnst" - the where?
Anyway, great ride, Tom. And Van der Valk crashing made my day - he clearly can't handle a mountain bike, stick to the other disciplines.
Indeed. With Andrea with him in the commentary for this race he was slightly better than in the races he did mostly by himself because she interrupted his babbling quite often. But it was still a constant stream of muddled thoughts that he never finished before moving on to the next thing.
Van der Valk 🤣
i guess he was just too embarassed about the politics in the sport and how the english cheated their way to a world title once again
@@dakotamiller6274 Get a life seriously. As a Brit myself I can be a fan of Nino (for many years) and Tom. I don’t have to pretend that one is faster than the other, when the opposite is the case. Or talk about cheating when Tom himself said he disagreed with the UCI’s rule change. It’s obvious that Tom is now faster. Nino is still in great shape, but when Tom shows up, he wins. It’s very simple. And on top of all of that, he won riding slowly because his derailleur was not working properly. He said that in multiple interviews. I’m bored of these Nino fanboys (and I am a fan as I said) talking such nonsense.
@@dakotamiller6274 of course he cheated his way through the field and rode off into the distance. Suck it u, best rider won end of.
What happened to Sagan
I think he was 60 something
This short videos are aweful. That is all left from a WC-Ride?
Nino very best rider....
Yes he's still amazing over 10 years older than most riders as well
C'mon
why are they wearing necklaces its a race not a fashion show
Idiotic thumbnail. But the commentary wasn’t the uci road guy so video was ok.
Great racing, mtb racing is on the up
No, this lady can't comment on races like that!!!
Shame on you UCI
shame on UCI, changing rules of the race at last linute haha, real shame
What did they change?
still they couldn't follow pidcock in the climbs, not that shameful imo
Starting positions. Pidcock and MVdP should have started at the back of the field. Instead they got moved up to the middle. So Pidcock had fewer riders to pass to get to the front. He won by 19 sec and starting position could have made a difference because he would have spent more time and energy to pass more riders.
@@gddyapbronco he moved up just 1 row
Yes, it's a shame. Especially after he shot down Luca Schwarzbauer in the Short Track on Thursday.
The rainbow jersey on the shoulders of a man who only races two times a year and succeeds through such unfair actions.
There must be a rule that you can only compete in the World Championships if you have raced in at least five World Cups.
He is incredibly talented and strong. But fairness must come first.
this is not MTB this gravel racing with bmx jumps.
watching a tour de france rider win a moutain bike race shows how much moutain bike racing is in a bad state.
Hes not just a road biker, he's a mountain biker. He's very good at one day fitness which will obv transfer over to mtb with his skills. There are many riders who start in mtb and do road as well. The fitness is transferable between the disciplines.
Too many gravel/fire road sections favors the cyclocross riders.
Unfair victory, it shouldn´t be allowed aliens from other planets be in Earth races
3 minutes of highlights, this is so poor! you wont grow the sport by hiding all of the best action behind a paywall. DO BETTER!
There was a time when a real MTB race was at least 2 hours long, and maybe with a longer race MDVP would have some chance to rejoin and fight for the win, not with this cyclocross format. This is what happens when television and money make the rules. The fact that they had to add an even shorter race then is beyond ridiculous.
I am sure MDVP won't have been racing in it when real MTB was 2 hours long. You can't combine real MTB and MDVP in a single sentence...:D
@@victorchan4223 if you can win Tour of Flandres, Strade Bianche, Paris Roubaix, 5 cyclocross world championships and an european mtb championships, you can race and win on everything with 2 wheels and pedals, if only you want. But we will never know, mtb is not his main goal and marathon MTB doesn't pay much.
I follow the MTB cross country events for quite some time and drive long distances to watch it live. I like short track as good addition to xco and I think the length of the races is just right. Lot´s of spectators long the track during the short track race.... seems to be anattrctive format.
@@tomw0815 exactly. It's for the entertainment of the crowd. And that's all that matters.
@@victorchan4223 why not? you think someone who won 300km milan san remo and paris roubaix could not last a measily 2 hours on a MTB ffs? Some of the comments from MTB fanboys are so ridiculous. Just enjoy the fact cycling as a whole if getting much more publicity and great to have so many talented riders on road, track, MTC, XC, womens racing also vastly improved etc and be less pompous.
Pidcock is a really good rider. No doubt. But i find him to be a bit of a prick, like a road racer would be.
On another note. anyone else find the announcers to be super annoying?
Victor Koretzky 👎
So the poison dwarf has won the drugs must be really good
Probably as good as the ones you forgot to take this morning.
The "world's best mountain bikers" just got owned by a roadie. Just shows most MTB riders in general are B class athletes. MVDP has basically jumped on an MTB in the past and won world cup races as well.
VDP is cyclocross rider first, and he dominated road race. If fact two first places in a road race were taken by cyclocross riders. Does that mean "roadies" are B class athletes compared to cyclocrossers?
It's not like Pidcock just came from the road and one day decided to do mtb. He's trined in it lots before and obviously the fitness transfers over as well (although it is a different type of power output). Many riders started in mtb and went to do pro road races as well. It just happens that there's more money in road typically so people like pidcock will spend lots of time doing that instead of mtb. To train for xc mtb you do a similar type of training to road bikers just with skills and maybe higher intensity... build during the off season and high intensity blocks in the race season.
This isn't proper MTB, this is just road riding with bumps. Stick 'em on a DH bike and send them down Fort William and we'll see how good they are.
Van der poel stated his favourtie and toughest win was to beat Nino Schurter. It took him nearly five years since his debut to do it. Keep in mind this said by a rider whose main discipline was CX where endurance is primary weapon, who dominates one day racing and is the fastest winner in Paris-Roubaix beating all the so called A grade athletes. Yet, still it took him a good few years to finally being able to beat the greatest MTB rider in the history.
Pidcock isnt a roadie. He is multidisciplinary rider. Even so he made his name first in XCO and CX being the World Champions in age groups categories.
Even Van Aert, a cyclocross rider beats so "called A grade athelete Roadies" on mountains of Grand tours & beats them in sprints and collects victories in time trials . Does that mean every other grand tour rider are B class athletes?
Oh, Another One, Egan Bernal was also an ex moutain biker and Peter Sagan too. MTB is not about being an athlete with wattage and overly used aero stuff. Its a combination of skills, endurance and concentration.
Video is way too long guys, fell asleep after 70 seconds. Please for the future make these recap Videos a bit shorter an just put in the highlights. No use watching all of this boring racing, next time just start, finish and podium celebrations everything else is just boring.
disagree shoulda been longer
Are you kidding? It's just 3 minutes long... I'd want it longer tbh
Bruh you must be sarcastic
Poe's law never fails.
Love the sarcasm, what I love more though is how it went over some people's heads clearly.
