What about the Ilkley crit when he was about 14. He won the schoolboys race, then won the junior race & finished in the leading group of the elite race all in the same evening.
We still have photos from that Ilkley crit! It was an incredible night of racing.
That bike change though... Impressive!
Normal CX bike change but on road cleats
Smooth like butter
His support man even caught his bike!
Tom is a true talent. I'd love to see him succeed more as the years go by.
Definitely! I'm sure we will - he's got a huge amount of talent.
Agree, but Tom Pidcott and his team must be diligent of the Belgian cycling world because since the world of cycling has evolved to be a true multi nation spot,i.e. ,SOUTH AMERICA ,USA,AUSTRALIA, GERMANY,GREAT BRITAIN,ETC.BELGIUM HAS LOST IT'S WAY IN CREATING A TRUE GREAT IN THE SPOT,AND NEED SUCCESS DESPERATELY, THEREFORE, TOM PIDCOTT BE ALERT FOR ANY BELGIAN SKULLDUGGERY!!!!
Bike handling skills are something you don't automatically learn on the road.
I was a fresher at uni in Durham when Pidcock won that round of the Tour Series. Remember going along to the race and being thoroughly entertained - didnât realise just how meteoric and fast his rise would be at the time but itâs not surprising. That bike change was a thing of beauty
That must have been incredible! Yep - it seems like he could do anything at this point. Maybe a Grand Tour winner one day?
Great job mate. Really enjoyed this look back.
Cheers! I'm glad you enjoyed it đ
I've gone down a rabbit hole. I was watching a WW1 documentary and it mentioned the last Tour de France before WW1. I checked it out and 4 hours later I'm here haha
yep, been there done that
Watching this young British talent at having big successes in cycling shows me that this country has so many hopeful representers of the sport and their own origin. I think the world cycling is ready for a new chapter and we are lucky to accompany the change.
I love how he works his way up to first place, then burys the field!! Amazing confidence and ability!!
Looking at him, you'd never imagine he could not only hang with but beat the likes of WvA and MvP. A tiny man with the legs of a superhero and the balls of a legend. I like watching him descend best of all. Fearless.
Great compilationđWatching this lad leaves me breathless every timeđ±What a talent, what a joy he is to watchđ€©Just love him to bitsđ„°
Thanks so much and I couldn't agree more! đ He's already one of the greatest British riders and he's only just getting started! đ€Ż
Pidcock flying down the descent at the 12th stage of this years Tour de France left me speechless. He was leaving his competitors in the dust left, right and centre, making up so much time! I wish I had even a quarter of his bike handling skills!
@@martinalubbing9655 A tenth would do me...along with only twice his bodyweight.
Great video. The presentation is brilliant. Great work
Thanks very much! I'm glad you like it. We're back in business after a Christmas break so more are on the way đ ^Owen
Great video! I recently moved to Ilkley and it's great to see nearby otley hosting such a wicked race
Awesome! Aside from being a lovely place to live, the cycling community there is incredible.
Superb video!
Thanks so much!
Yea.... He is not too shabby is he! Wish I had 5% of his skill. Can't wait to see him with all the rainbow bands
There is a non-zero chance he wins all the world championship titles in one year... That is mind-blowing! đ€Ż
Awesome video mate, tom pidcock is a legend
Great Video! Now I feel even more lucky to have a selfie with him! He is al legend
Nice! That is definitely one to keep a hold of đ
Apparently Tom's targets for the next 12 months are the RAAM, the Red Bull Rampage and BMX freestyle at the XGames...
âŠand UCI Downhill and Enduro
i tend to watch road racing and I have recently started to watch cyclocross. What comes to mind is this...these cyclo cross guys, is it any wonder they can go from that discipline and dominate the roadies. I mean the immense skillset that the cx guys possess one of them being ridiculous amounts of core strength and another being mad bike handling skills to name a few it does not surprise me that they are knocking the socks off of the roadies. Plus I was absolutely hooked watching the CX guys go about their business.
I loved the closing comments. Awesome vid
I loved this
Of all of that, the most impressive thing there was his bike change, that was insane
Tom knows how to peak his fitness.
An incredible mind for bike racing.
His racing knowledge is just top class - it really is another level đȘ
watching him in the european championship mtb solidified it for me he is about to be a great!
Yeah that was awesome! And he started so far back in the field... đ€Ż World Championships here we come đ
Can't believe you left the skid out at the end of Durahm Tour series.
Yeah that skid was the icing on the cake and I would have loved to get it in there! Unfortunately our archive didn't have it đ (I promise I looked for it!)
surprisingly, he won against PRO riders without backup team on him. he rode and fight on his own...amazing talent
He's such an incredible rider! Can't wait to see him given even more opportunities by his team.
If he doesn't win a GT , it won't be for want of talent, skill, fitness or desire. May he get that chance with a team supporting him
100% đ It looks like INEOS have a long-term plan to build him up for GTs
I am not sure, he hasn't really shown me anything that tells me he can beat the best GC riders currently here, nor the ones coming up, maybe in a low competition GT if he really goes for it. And he'll really have to improve his ITT, it just sucks now.
To me he currently looks more like a classics rider and stage hunter than a real GC threat, essentially like WVA when he isn't a domestique. He can prove me wrong in the future though.
I sincerely hope he wins the TDF but modern day history shows us that riders as lightweight as Tom rarely finish on the top step. 65-67kg is the norm
@@urbanjungle9600 Actually, isn't Vingegaard around the same weight?
@@dpcater You mean the short technical ITT that should suite riders that are stronger technically (like CX riders)? And in that case Pidcock also started in much better weather conditions.
So that TdF ITT wasn't entirely representative of his TT capabilities. And even then he finished 15th. So his best result ever is a 15th place with a lot of advantages in that one for him.
What a weapon! Being so young the world is his oyster! TDF win one day who knows. Keep riding Tom :)
give him a couple of year to grow into the sport and mature and he will crush world tours too.
What an ABSOLUTE MONSTER!đđż
The cc said "tom bitcock". Well, that's an easy way to get a giggle out of me. đ
Hahaha I'll have to go through that again đ
Great to watch, loved this piece. Who's the speaker (and author)?
Thanks very much! I (Owen Lake) wrote and voiced this one đ
That corner in Otley...ridiculous
Caught a glimpse of Alex Paton there
That bike exchange though!đł. Are you kidding me? WOW!
It's incredible, right!
Not sure forcing Downing to crash should be included in his highlights
Hes win in Europe MTB XC just the past day is just unbelievable on how he dropped the 2nd and 3rd rider with qnd he won on a Hardtail
That was incredible! And he started so far back - he's on another level đȘ
Here's hoping Pidcock is in top form by Stage 14 of the Tour, and that he can stay with the leaders up the final HC climb of Joux Plane. If he can keep touch with the leaders, or even somewhere close, it sets up perfectly for him to bomb the descent for a stage win. Depending on GC standings and stage dynamics, that descent could see some crazy action. I could see Pogacar taking really aggressive risk to try and break the nerves of Vingegard if it's obvious he can't beat him on the climbs. I could see Pidcock bombing and Pogie trying to follow. Guaranteed excitement regardless of how it unfolds.
What a prodigious talent - Pidcock has said he is going for the overall in this year's TDF. Wishing him all the best!
And how about the tdf when he slowed down for froome then the climb with the crowd , awesome đ already a tdf legend
No doubt the first of many Tour stage wins!
Love him!
Great guy!
That bike changeđđđ
He just went full beast mode đȘ
At 0:36, Is that Alex Paton from GCN in the white jersey and green/red helmet?
Yep! He was riding with Madison Genesis at the time - the British UCI Conti team đ
Ridley make sick bikes
Power to weight ratio
I think you can add the day start on 100 position on UCi MTB and finish on 5th . He finish with the flat tire
Unstoppable! đȘ
Yang dia pakai dari ujung rambut sampai ujung kaki itu meledak semua penjualannya đ€đ
Last song name?
Brilliant does not cut it for Tom....
Incredible! And he's only 23 years old đ€Ż
A ryder fearless congrats... from Italy đ
Yes! Thanks for watching đ
ABSOLUTE ROCKET THAT YOUNG LAD
Including the fastest ever mountain descent in the Tour de France.
That Alex from gcn
who's here after Bianche
Just re-watching this every time Pidcock wins đ
well today he made shock number 6
The CX was a tough watch! Apparently he's not riding the World Championships this year...
He will be a Grand Tour winner.
đđ€
Pidcock vs Sagan would be an amazing rivalry.
His win in XCC in Nove Mesto was nothing short of amazing!
*The XCO one was good either.
What about the dude who caught the bike
Well his Alps de huez podium win last year is insane.
You know you are a very good bike handler when you turn faster than Ben Turner đ
Haha so true! Ben's no slouch đ
He's a roadie with mountain bike skills, he's gonna be lethal.
What the fk, that bike change to win it
It was crazy, right?! He was so calm under that pressure.
That bike change forever won my respect for pidcock
You wanna follow him when he drives his car!!!!đ„đ„đ„đ„
Haha no thank you! đ
LOOK OUT TOM. THE BELGIAN CYCLING WORLD HAS GOT IT "IN" FOR YOU !! ANY CYCLIST THAT'S A THREAT TO OVERDUE BELGIAN SUCCESS IN THE SERIOUS SECTION OF THE SPORT WILL USE ANY MEANS TOO SECURE A BELGIAN "TOUR" WINNER!!!

Superman move on the bike (abdomen on the saddle) caused me an inguinal hernia. Needed laparoscopic surgery and a mesh fixated on the inside. Just a point to remember.
best cornering in the business
pidcock is good but van aert and vanderpoel are on another level concerning cyclists coming from cyclo cross
Those two are incredible! We're looking forward to the next CX season đ€
WVA and MVDP are currently the CX/road combo riders of the generation. They achieved so much more than him on the same age in CX, while usually mostly battling eachother. They were very dominant in CX by Pidcock's age and Pidcock hasn't really shown this dominance (even in their absence) except for some flashes here and there. The road is difficult ofcourse since VA and VDP really only went to it on a later age (+-23-24yo), while Pidcock has been in one of the best road teams since he was 21.
I personally also find it difficult to see how the crit circuit competition stacks up against WT road racing, to me it seems pretty weak tbh.
Something that I also found is that Pidcock seems to have matured earlier than others at young age. Which can explain why he was winning those races you mention on that age. You can also see this in his TT performances. In juniors he was really good at it, but then later with the u23 and elite he was getting surpassed in it by riders before being generally quite worse than him with the juniors. Now his ITT results really suck, which is surprising for a rider at Ineos.
Ofcourse he is still a big talent, just not the biggest imo. His best discipline might be MTB, followed by CX and then road. But he'll really need to concentrat one to achieve more, that or be happy with just being competitive on the road in the spring classics (like MVDP usually does).
Yeah the crit scene in the UK is definitely not as strong as WT road racing, even though it's pretty strong!
It feels that with another year and some more focus, he could be an incredible rider. Like you say, it's just about finding which discipline/races are the best for him to focus on.
kinda off topic but all this Brit speech got me thinking, who thinks Harry's gonna try to kill William to try and be king?
Aye, he's a good 'un, but he's no Beryl Burton.
Can you imagine how incredible she would be in the modern era?!
Small rider. Low center of gravity is a plus when cornering!!!
True! It definitely helps when drafting đ
'The Superman ' 6.46 now that's a screen shot
Yep! The perfect winning moment.
He's so small, no one can get a draft!! lol

Is Tom natty?

@@monument_hq Hi. I prefer no sound under talk. Mainly because it makes no sense. Either you listen to music, or, you listen to someone talking. Both at the same time makes no sense, whatsoever.
@@oleromer9525Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it! đ Still trying to get things like that perfect, so it's good to know.
