How far can you travel with 0% battery in an electric car?
3 feet.
as far as you can push it
Thats kind of like saying how much can you use ur phone when its on 0% which is nothing
lol bro
DanTheTwoWheeler Depending on the car it could be nothing or it could be 10 or 20 miles.
Wonder how pissed off the people behind you were
Car Octane opopp
And here in Bangladesh we overtake and horn and there’s no speed limit
They are use to Clarkson and his buddies.
Philip Keller lol I live in the uk but it’s crazy I’ve almost died XD
Its a good way to hypermile. Stay under 2000 rpm and bam. Golden
So with the fuel light on you have more range than with a full Rollse Royce
gamerforever its rolls royce no e
gamerforever
Online bike Museum wat r u saying
Online bike Museum rolls royc???
@@Kryojenix no, Rolls Royce, online bike was saying no to rollse royce, which is what gamerforever said
Depends on the car, I can 100% confirm that when my e36 says zero miles, it has zero miles left
That sucks cuz you need it cuz its a really good feature
my bmw has 0 around 20 miles lol
Can you hit vtec with an empty fuel tank?
KAL 1 i see you everywhere
Good question...
Can you hit VTED without VTEC?
Gino Brugman maybe :v
Drunk On Bleach sameee
*How far can you travel with 0 wheels?*
Bob McCoy ayou cant
R u dumb !
Maybe a couple of inches with the brake rotors before they shatter.
Andrew Arceneaux theyre probably set to not move
I wouldn't think so. There's no electrical connection of your wheels to the vehicle except maybe the TPMS.
how long can u drive without driving?
Depends if u got a tesla
Depends if youre driving.

99 What a tease
hahahahaha
I guess he could make 100 if he wouldn't stop
@@gospinN yed
I could do 2 days of my daily commute on This car
Those hills contributed to the lower number, otherwise I believe he'd hit 110 easily.
Can you hit vtec with no fuel??
Harrison Baker yea it just kicked in yo Oh shit trees
+Harrison Baker Nice copy and paste skills
Harrison Baker GOOD QUESTION
i can hit a vtec with a fucking building,.
Harrison Baker (
Spare wheel seems nicer than stock wheel
Rafiul Haque yeah, I'd say that's modified and the originals were replaced for resale
This varies per vehicle. What you want to do is fill her up when the warning light comes on (or the fuel gauge reads zero). Memorize the amount of gas you added. Then check the size of your fuel tank in your manual, and deduct one from the other.
The answer is your reserve. In my car the tank is still 1/3 full when the light comes on!
The range after empty will vary depending on the volume of your reserve tank. Owners manuals often state these specifications.
Well if it's actually empty then no
what about fuel in the rest of the system?
You can have an empty fuel tank and still have fuel in the system.
JamZ gaming smart ass
It may have used the fuel in the lines and the vapors from the EVAP system.
Due to the irregular shape of a fuel tank and the fact that the float won't reach all the way down there will be a decent amount of fuel left in the bottom
How long can you drive without a alternator?
Nathan Critchley this is shown in just about every roadkill episode lol.
120 miles / 200 km in a Renault Kangoo 1.9 Diesel. Trust me, it happened to me when one of the bolts who supposed to support the alternator unscrew itself. Got back home in a tow truck.
Good question
Until you run out of petrol. It just won't start again.
Bosseyed Beaver lol i don't think you know how a petrol engine works. it needs spark that power comes from the alternator and battery once the battery dies and cant get charge no more it shuts off
i love this channel. so much automobilia knowledge
Thanks for doing this video. Very interesting.
Short answer- most cars have a 2 gallon reserve- so with 25MPg- yes.
so there we go.
Not talking about the reserve. Talking about "empty" tank, empty meaning gauge on 0.
BMW e46 compact has 4L reserve. Bmw e46 sedan has 0L reserve.0 means 0.
I'm pretty sure the fuel gauge was broken.
This is typical really, the fuel gauge lies to you and says it's empty when there's really 2-3 gallons left.
It's not even a lie. It's a safety feature so your car doesn't stall as soon as it hits empty.
Ok, but almost 100 miles (160km) with an empty fuel tank? There's no chance that i belive it, if i'm not seeing it with my eyes. I would belive everything until 40 (64km), cause it's reasonable, but anything more, that's fucking impresive, if it's true
Actually I think it's a Accord thing. I had the same one and if you fill up as soon as the fuel gauge says it's empty you've got 15-20 liters(don't know how much gallons this is) left in the tank. So I could have driven 150-180km with the light on.
Damian you better believe it! My Chevy pickup has a 26 gallon tank, and pegs at empty at 18 gallons, leaving 8 gallons in the tank. Good for around 100 miles, depending on how you drive.
Awesome episode
Lol, seeing this in my recommended after I just did 65 miles with my fuel light on
Well the fuel light indicates that you're on reserve, which is 5-10 liters depending on what car you have. The manual will tell you.
Loving the new cut mate
*RIP FUEL PUMP* lol just sayin
It's bullshit, fuel pumps don't die from this. All track/autocross guys run 5/10 liter fuel on the day to keep the weight down. I've been doing this for 10 years
Elyas you won't damage old honda fuel pump like that, believe me
fuel pumps use fuel in the tank to cool, running on reserve all the time will make it die much sooner.
plus it's gonna pick up all the filth from the bottom of the tank
It seems it's not as frail as I was led to believe. But I have to wonder, what if it was a diesel engine? I've always heard about how you'd screw up the fuel pump and the fuel injectors by mistakenly using gas in a diesel engine, I've seen videos of people trying this in older cars, but I'm not sure if they had direct or indirect fuel injection.
And what about direct injection gas engines? Are they as sensible to running dry as people say diesel ones are? Those high pressure pumps and fuel injectors are way more expensive in DI engines than on indirect ones.
Honda will die on Monday so don't feel too bad for it ;)
loving this series...because I have one of these
Trying to make a Honda run out of fuel is like cheating on your girlfriend and trying to keep up the lie 😂🤣
Your a scumbag
@@kellyfuller1942 it's not like he cheated on his Honda
That's not an empty tank. Every car has a reserve range.
Vanneker the Ford expedition that my family has a reserve gas tank so we can get to a gas station

I LOVE these videos
Nice of you to make a general statement like that. The shape of the tank and the position @ witch the sensor reports it empty will depend on the make and model of the car....
My OCD is out of control!!! 99 MILES?!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!
Alex: The best it can do is 26 miles. Period.
Also Alex: 99 miles! :( So close.
Can you do the Lowest-revving production cars list?
I'd say it would be cars from the post WWI era when cars had airplane engines. They only revved to about 1500.
All diesels
@@chapekfabrication2975 if you're talking about nowadays diesel they're still quite high, but old diesel yes they are low revving engine
there are some diesels that only go like 800rpm or 1200 if i remember theres a video
0:59 - 1:07 is the highlight of the video, great editing here and throughout
Good choice turning off the motorway as well, running out of fuel on a motorway would've sucked
Mine scooter's fuel tank is glitchy- when its fully filled it shows up as empty(when it sips a little from top, it shows full tank on speedo), when its empty, it still shows up as if there was still a little bit of petrol
Aurimas Knieža xd same
To this day, VTEC still kicks in...
The Real Bleach u taste good
skillful editing. i like
Trick is to swerve left and right a bit to slosh the remaining fuel into the anti-slosh box in the tank. Can get an extra 5 miles sometimes that way :P
thats... kinda double the (trip).... well i dont know what its called but you get me
@@hodmzareb2790 if you swerve left and right you increase the distance you go towards your destination. Im sure there's a point where sloshing the fuel might be worth it, but the extra few meters you go through might make the fuel gain useless
I'm welling up watching this thinking about when Top Gear had to try and escape to Poland on barely any fuel... 😢😢😢
Ukraine too
I remembered Top Gear Episode Ukraine "Escapes from Nuclear Radiation" The Dancia Sandero(James May), Nissan Micra(Ricard Hamster) and VW Up!(Jeremy Clarkson)
jenci I'm pretty sure Hammond had a Ford Fiesta
Julian Drennan I'm pretty sure they had to run out of fuel before they got to Chernobyl
President Flump I'm also pretty sure they did one where they had to escape to Poland. I'll try and find it there
Poor fuel pump ):
i drive 2000 accord, its got some rust but its still doing a good job on both short and long trips
that's awesome work
And you thought range anxiety was bad in an electric car!
How about 0% battery in an electric car?
We tryed in tesla model s. Results. 0% fully empty battery. Runs 62km, average speed is over 55-60km/h
LYx461 iT Will probably die but if ya have tesla it can go 25 to 50 miles
I Am Sekou Oh crap we have a non-humorous badass over here.
I Am Sekou you need to learn what humour is
Yeah, about 60km is a good estimate. But that's really stretching it, shortening the lifespan of the battery, and you never get the guarantee it will be that way. Actually this dude who does Tesla tests just recently was stranded in the middle of nowhere because his Tesla was saying it got 14km left but the battery died. But that was because he was pulling a heavy load, and it messed up with the system, since it gives the estimated value based on normal use statistics. Either way I wouldn't feel comfortable with that little range left, would recharge so I have at least 30 km range at all times.
99 in a Honda Coincidence? I don't think so
What a brilliant, slow motion blink at 1:35
What happened to your hair ?
ENZO Ferrari weight reduction
Jesús Dominguez 😂great answer😂
ENZO Ferrari its more aerodynamic when he is driving a convertible

Jesús Dominguez omg
You can get any mileage once VTEC kicks in. It will run off you saying 'YO!'
Reminds me of my SiR-T I had back in the day. It had the same gauge cluster. Man I miss that car.
good show prep
I dont have anything funny or original to comment but I wish you a good day/night and weekend is coming!
Greetings from Austria
A prius can do that
Jason Wang Ha!!! That is amazing
I got like over 120 miles on empty with my prius on a roadtrip pretty good economy car, but I'm glad a sold it for my ///M3 :D
My 1998 Fiat can do that: 1.1L motor, tank has 8L when the light comes on so I can drive 200 km on that, that's 128 miles and still have enough to look for a petrol station.
Jason Wang rather have an accord than a prius
Jason Wang a prius is the father of economy friendly driving
Wow. I never pushed my accord past 20 miles with the light on 😂😂 Glad I kept her when I bought another car. This may come in handy sometime.
I had a ford Capri 2.0s that barely touched the red sector of the fuel gauge and it sputtered to a halt... but then that was the 80's for you and it had a rather thirsty twin choke carb.
That awkward moment when you get the notification while watching the video.. I have no life😂😂
I live in Banbury, cheers for the sign shoutout
in my 2004 pontiac grand am 3.6L V6 automatic i could get 21miles or so on empty and i could hear it suck air so much it frightened me. and generally with fuel light on you have 1.7gallons (6L) of fuel left, so calculating your mpg can give you roughly how much you can do.
yes you can, tried once with a honda accord 4d.. thumbsUP!
"There was no warning"
Warning light is flashing all the time...
I think only in your car model
i didn't know my Trevor suggestion would actualy be used!
TBH now i kind of regret it, should of named it XXXACCORD because it's sippin' fuel on yo hood
Depends on the car, how much fuel is left when the light comes on, driving conditions, driving style, etc.
You have tried something I've always wanted to do!
"We just drove 50 miles with an empty fuel tank!"
48 miles later...
"I think we're out of fuel."
No waaaay! :D
Alex I have a question what would you recommend for a first car and why?
+Joe Egginton Honda Accord. VTEC.
Car Throttle 100% what he said.
Cheap, small engine, low running costs. Get your first year of no claims and a years driving experience while saving up then get something more upmarket for a 2nd car :).
I got a 98 accord and it is perfect
Ford f650
And yes you can daily drive cars with cut springs. Here in New Zealand it is a common (and stupid and dangerous) modification. They're called AGS (angle grinder springs).
Nice vid 👍
When Trevor is on probation and he has to do 50 miles on an empty fuel tank.
poppers uhhhhh
Who need petrol, just saw through the floor and Flintstone your car around
😏
That's a good video idea, Can You Flinstone your car?
haha, you need a strong leg and feet to even run your car like Flinstone
Hmmm... it should be noted that fuel gauges and low fuel lights are not precision instruments, not 'calibrated', and can vary significantly between individual specimen vehicles. Your owners manual may even allude to this fact. Incidentally, running a tank dry, intentionally or otherwise can be rough on catalytic converters, and fuel pumps... and for some vehicles has the potential to make restarting after addition of fuel difficult. (The trick is to turn the key to the 'run' (not start) position, wait 3 or 4 seconds and then off... repeat 20 or 30 times and try starting. If it doesn't start normally, do the switch dance another 10 or so cycles and try again. This allows the fuel pump to bleed trapped air from the fuel line and fuel 'rail' without needless cranking of the engine in the process.)
Turning the starter on an empty fuel tank makes sure that you´re sucking all the dirt from the tank into the engine. Nicely done!
What happened to your hair ? Weight reduction bro !
LYx461 it's more aerodynamic when he's driving his miata
This all depends on the car. Different manufacturers build in different fuel buffers
my sister did this test with every car she ever had. it varies based on model. brothers willingness to bring fuel varies as well.
Well done Trevor
You know it's summer in Britain when the thermometer reads 13 degrees.
Whatever we do or try to prove; petrol engines will still be banned by 2040 :'(
Andreas upsidedown i highly doubt it theres too much money to be made for that to happen especially once they start drilling in the arctic
Im pretty sure it's the sale of not the use of
Andreas upsidedown Petrol hybrids will still be allowed
@Andreas, shame you have issues with reading comprehension. You want to go back to the article that mentioned 2040 and read it again. There will not be any ban of petrol engines. The plan (and plans are rarely stuck to) is that by 2040 there won't be any manufacturers making and selling petrol engine vehicles.
No chance
That's a nice ccord you got there.
Once managed to limp my Peugeot 207 from cardiff to bridgend on, according to the gauge, an entirely empty tank, having dropped off 4 friends at 4 entirely different towns sending me in many different directions. I imagine it was probably close to 35-40 miles overall. Just kept smooth as hell on the throttle, kept it to 56 mph where i could and kept as much speed as possible in the corners as to not have to waste petrol speeding up. It was 3 am so the roads were entirely empty, was the most tense thing ive ever done and i walked to town with a petrol can the next morning
Should've gone the final mile on the start engine, can technically keep going :)
How far can you drive without a car O__o
It depends on what type of car you are in . I remember long ago I had a car and when the fuel light would come on , I used to go another 10 to 15 klms and it would run out of fuel . Back in the days when I was scratching for every dollar.
I once drove from Los Angeles to Anaheim, and back, on an empty tank, during rush hour (both times), in a 1991 Honda Civic.
Can you hit VTEC on no fuel
how long can you drive without breaks?
fs87 As long as you have enough fuel, and there's no intersections.
I’ve been daily driving my truck with no brakes for two months now Ive been using my emergency brake to stop just gotta be careful and every now and then jump on to someone yard to avoid something lol
Gus Curcio not smart
Had the fuel light come on in a 04 jetta right when I finished reading a sign that said 98 miles to next gas station in the middle of no where on a desert highway. Just left the cruise control on and kept rolling on as is at 75 tell we made it. Was starting to sputter as we pulled into the pump.
Genuinely GUTTED!
Can you get 50 miles without wheels?
How ??
just remove them tyres and wheels, and then put a steel rims then run them on rails.
Razor they still are wheels

Car throttle big Fan From Puerto Rico :)
Quick answer to the headline question: it depends entirely on the car. As in, how much fuel is left in the tank when the gauge starts showing empty, and how good its fuel economy is.
I've had cars where you could easily get 50+ miles (in fact one that was so pessimistic I actually got bored whilst running a 10-ish mile loop around local roads to find out where it actually quit, and was about to give up, somewhere far north of 60, when it finally stalled out and I had to, with some relief, top it up from a ready-filled jerrycan to get to the filling station), and others where you would struggle to get 30. Particularly my first where the gauge was extremely optimistic and essentially the point where the needle moved fully into red (not the bottom of the red! oh, also, no warning light...) is the point where it cut out. On the other hand, my bike's gauge is more of a reminder than a proper readout, the range of the needle from "full" to red seems to essentially show the middle third of its capacity (or in other words, a single gallon), with it flatlining at full for at least the first fifty miles, and seeming to go about as long before needing to be switched onto reserve after hitting the absolute bottom of the gauge as it did to go from the top of red to the bottom. Or in other words, if I ride carefully, there's easily fifty miles left in it after the needle goes to empty, and a few more besides (25+) when switched to reserve...
My current one, I haven't yet found the limit. It's got a nasty 8-bar digital gauge and estimated range readout neither of which I trust very much, and that make keeping track of where it starts registering "empty" vs where you actually end up refuelling (or breaking down) a bit difficult, plus it starts flipping the overrun cutoff much more harshly amongst other "warning" or last-gasp fuel saving measures that are unpleasant to deal with when in the driver's seat, so I tend not to push my luck with it very much and haven't yet actually run it to the point of stalling. Plus I don't tend to carry a spare can any more because they do rather make a gasoline powered car (which I've ended up having to go back to, from the previous diesels, not for ideological reasons but just because of what was available) smell quite a bit if they're even the tiniest bit leaky. I've had a couple of fills where it took nearly 41 litres (including whatever was in the filler neck, and possibly refilling the lines and filter...) when the tank is officially 40, so it was probably edging close to being completely dry, and it seems to be able to do at least 25-30, so the maximum is probably 35-40...
I was driving in the middle pf the mohovie desert to California an in the middle of nowhere my fuel light came on i drove 60 miles to a gas station i through i was going to die
Its a Honda! Amazing car
Good video, as always! But... really,... Alex,... You must know someone with some weatherstrip adhesive so that you can fix the strip at the top of the drivers window!!!!!
I actually have one of these as my first car haha. They're great just not many options as modifications go except for putting accord type r parts on her which can be expensive unfortunately
Does anyone else not understand why the logo for Car Throttle is two H's??
It's like the symbol on shifter for gears, just no numbers
Daniel Williams I'm guessing a shift pattern for 6 gears?
it's the 2 t's and the l in throttle
It's a fockin shifter
Its the pattern of a H GATE SHIFTER
"Trooth or meeth"
I would say it can greatly depend on each car... car manufacturers do not want people to drive on empty tanks since it can really damage the engine, especially diesel, since it's the lubricant as far as I know.
I drove about 30 miles in my old 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 5.2L V8, NP249J transfer case (full time 4x4). Didn't die out on me.
