If you don't smile watching this young lady, there's something wrong with you.
She's definitely a joy
Yes she is the sun ❤
So true, the best Dad and daughter on CZcams
Yes, for sure, the prerequisite before watching Ellen's CZcams channel is to smile and be prepared to learn.
Exactly. She is a delight! And LOVE the interaction between her and her father, she is so attentive and sweet, what a great job her parents have done raising her!
Such a great father and daughter. Super family.
Hovac you’re an incredible father and mentor. Ellen, you’re an inspiration to all learning an instrument. And just adorable.
You see what a child can do when she/he has loving and supportive parents? If only all children were this fortunate.
Especially, a loving FATHER!
I love to see her and her dad together. I could watch them talk all day. They are so much alike.❤
Nicely done Ellen. That was a clear, very organized explanation of how this app works. Tomplay should be very happy with it. Your voice was clear and your diction was fantastic. Every word could be understood. Sorry, I'm a teacher!! LOL! Love that you are pushing yourself to do tutorials like this. And, it fits right in to language arts for school. You're doing awesome! "Imagine" how far you're going to go!! Have a great week!
I agree that was a great tutorial. As a music teacher myself she definitely has the makings of an awesome teacher :)
As a bass player i wish i knew this app earlier, it was hard finding tabs or sheet music for songs i wanted to play, and i had to learn it the hard way, which is by ears. Though now i can learn any songs by ears so im actually glad at it, which is why i want to say that you’re a really good father/mentor, and i want to say that you should definitely teach her to learn songs by ears, it’s a crazy good skill to have and i highly recommend to teach her as early as you can. Also expose her to different genres, one of my personal favorite is J-pop/rock, those songs have super crazy and fun bass lines, and they’re super fast paced songs too which will give her A LOT of speed improvements, ofc with the right exercise to get her to prepare is always good. Keep doing what you do man! We all here support you guys
@@RenanRischiotto start by learning ez songs that will give you easier time. That’s my top tip for anyone starting out. But im sorry to break it to you, without music theory, you will have a very difficult time to learn by ears, im not saying it’s impossible, but it’s a lot harder and takes way longer.
From my experience, i would always try to find note by note, since i didnt like learning music theory, I thought it was too hard. and over the years i learned that, knowing the chord progressions for various genres will literally make it 10x easier and faster to learn song by ears. You want to first find the chord progression of the part you are learning, that way it will be easier to find the melody. Since most of the time, the melody is usually around the 5th of the root note (which is whatever the bass is playing) of the chord.
You dont need to learn music theory right away, i didnt learn it and focused on my playing skill and then learn it after that. You dont need to go completely deep into it, just know your major and minor scales is enough to learn most classic rock, pop, etc. since modern American music is really not that hard or creative to the point it’ll be hard to learn. But if you’re into funk, jazz, then a lot of theory needs to be learned. Remember, there’s no way you cant find the notes, there are only 12 notes, not including the flats and sharps. Knowing your scale will help you a lot to find notes in a song, since there are only 8 notes in a key. If you can figure out what key the song is in, then it should be very easy to go on from there.
I recommend you learning major scales first, this will show the fastest results, there are plenty of scales tutorials on the internet. Major scale have a specific pattern, if you can memorize it, you will know every single major scale. Same with minor scales, they have a different pattern than major, but is still easy to memorize. Once you get comfortable with major scales, you want to find songs in major scales that you are into. You can literally search it up anywhere on the internet like “pop songs that are in major scale” Since you just started, make it easy for yourself, ask what key of the song is in on the internet. This is the starting point, of course you want to challenge yourself after you’re comfortable learning. Then you can start going in blind, not knowing what the key is in, and you have to figure that out yourself. Then do the same for minor scales. Once you’re comfortable with both, do that for songs that are in major and minor, but without you knowing it. Easiest way to tell what songs are in major or minor, is that major is happy, and minor is sad. If the song is slow and sad, then it’s probably in minor key. If the song is upbeat and happy, then it’s probably major. And one final thing is to listen to a lot of songs.
Well this is just how i would do it if i could start over with music. I was only into j pop and wanted to play songs that were way too difficult for me to play, i made way harder for myself to learn. J pop/rock have a totally different chord progression, and they always sneak in jazzy chords which is super super unique. Over the years of only learning Japanese songs, i found myself to learn any modern American songs super quickly. pop music would only take me an hour to learn, since they’re super simple. If you’re pretty serious about getting better at it, i highly recommend you listen to jpop.
Ellen you made the presentation so professional!! I enjoyed it so much!!!😁😁👍👍❤️❤️
Ellen, you have matured much in this musical world. You have explained your Tomplay device so well. In such a short time you became an accomplished bass player with hard practice, encouragement from other musicians as well as everyone that has posted comments on your CZcams channel. Of course we can't forget Dad who has supported and encouraged you in the musical journey. 👍 up in every video you post.
I watch these videos cause Ellen, you make me happy. You are such a talented person with so much love for bass and music. can't wait to see you play 10 years...
Ellen I’m not a musician and I understood what the Tomplay app does and the features in the app. You are a great teacher.
You're always such an inspiration! Your smiles and your giggles make me smile, you make my day better for that! I want an Ellen guitar shirt like the one you have on, cool design!! ❤ Keep doing what you're doing, you're awesome!
I liked your explanation. I wish you would demonstrate it with you actually using the app while practicing. It would give me a better idea of how to use the features.
Ellen ,You are so well spoken I’m glad the app helps you it looks like a very good one I’m glad you are getting a lot of use out of it thank you for your brilliant report always a joy to watch you

wow so awesome Ellen thanks for the excellent explanation to how you do your learning, love it.
You're the same age as my son. Man, all you kids are getting older so fast! Keep up all the amazing work!
I ❤ how you, Hovak - and Ellen!, do your reviews!
"You can record yourself..." (OOPZ) (...dropping your stylus!) 🤣
It definitely seems like an AWES😎ME app! What definitely matters most is that the user likes it!
I'm a believer that it helps to know a product, or service, before reviewing it. It shouldn't matter how long it takes. I do also believe that it's best to review after using something for as little time as possible. However, it does make sense to use something for a longer period of time if it's relevant. I do believe this product, this app, was worth using for a while first before reviewing.
Ellen, you did VERY well reviewing this app. I'm waitin' patiently for your next video!
That learning device looks really cool, I’m so gonna use that in my next class, I wonder if you have to download songs or is the library already self contained. Please do not be disappointed with others and what they feel you should read, God knows who we all are , thank you for posting.
Thank you for responding, it’s rather mundane, the students seem to know much more then me within the areas of o learning utensils, who knew, still very interested in obtaining these or similar software that obtain the same concept
You are helping my depression you are an earthangell thanks for your joy!!!
This actually sounds like a system I'd be interested in. Thank-you Ellen for demonstrating it.
Peace-out!
i gotta say this is pretty awsome im a teen myself going threw a music adventure i play drums upright bass violin and guitar and im trying to learn the bass guitar as i said im a teen and this is a lot now im not even near perfect at any of these instruments but this app is really helpful and seeing how good you are at playing the bass really gets me to want to learn this instrument as fast as i can i love 80s 90s rock and im very excited to learn
Some people make fantastic educators right out the gate. Ellen is a total natural; immediately puts you at ease, keeps it light, a great clear explainer, and _loves_ helping people. Crucial ingredients that separate successful teachers/coaches from others who like.. maybe should be doing something else 😄
I've been teaching long enough to know ideas & inspiration for upping my game can come from ANYWHERE, and I will _never_ stop trying to be better. Today that inspiration came from Ellen - thanks friend!
An Awesome app Ellen, thanks for sharing!
Hi Ellen and Hovak! Thank you for promoting TomPlay. As a Yousician user for years I was looking for another platform as well that would give me the freedom to play with ‘ the great bands I love’ and still be able to learn at my own pace. And Tomplay does exactly that! So I joined this bandwagon and already had lots of joy playing along! Nice addition to my set-up!
I love to see her play your dad is a good teacher
Hey Ellen I have a challenge for you being as one of my music loves is smooth jazz. Find and learn some smooth jazz. You might like it as something to learn when you want to chill while playing bass
Doing well!!! Teaching is critical - in music as in medicine the fascination is that you can never know everything so it is a never ending journey - you and Hovak are an inspiration JJ
Ellen, always a delight to watch you play, and also just being yourself, you are such a breath of fresh air! And btw, LOVE the shirt! I didn't know you have your own logo, the branding is perfect 🙂
Great video as always! Now off to Tomplay.
It's amazing to watch you play also you play like a pro trust me keep smiling I enjoy your videos

Hi there! Ellen Great video,"Excellent explanation, you really made it easy to understand.""Thank you for taking the time to create this helpful content." "I highly recommend this to anyone looking to understand how to use Tomplay. "Keep up the great work!" ."Looking forward to more content like this."
Great video!!! So, which one is better, Yousician or Tomplay? Love from the Netherlands.
They are different, Yousician is more for learning how to play an instrument, and Tomolay is more for learning to play your favorite songs.
@@EllenPlaysBass ok I see. Thx for replying so fast. WOW! But it seems like there are some great features in tomplay that you don't get with yousician. Like recording yourself, that's awesome! I'm going to try it out and let you know some other time. Thx, love from the Netherlands.
Beautiful la explicación
Cool "Ellen" Bass shirt!
Nice 👍
A/Rock
D/Rock
Only Ellen could make an eight-minute ad cute.
Hi Ellen, can Tomplay show lyrics to the songs while learning them? And can Tomplay change the key to a song? It’s been so awesome watching and getting tips especially with apps. It’s been amazing watching your growth and your love for bass, and your dad’s the greatest teacher. Thank you from Aotearoa New Zealand ❤❤

The premium version is $14.99 per month ($119.99 annually) and I don't know if songs are included, but there are 60,000 you can choose from and buy for $2-40 each depending on the complexity.
