John's voice really adds a certain warmth to this song. And boy that guitar solo...
Yupp!
One of my favorite Dead songs. Every so often when, when the world seems like its just spins faster and faster, I slow it down with some tunes from the dead. This is for you reading this comment right now. Sit back and enjoy. Cheers!
Yep, Monday night, small fire having one drink before bed
My boyfriend took me to see Dead and Co this past weekend in Vegas at The Sphere, and it was truly a remarkable experience I'll treasure the rest of my life. We saw them two nights in a row, and I hope I see them again in the future! (I'm a new fan. My partner is a decades long dead head).. this is also one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite, as well.
John Mayer + the Dead seems the making of two destinies fulfilled. What a blessing for them and for us. Gotta' love it! 🙏🏼❤🔥
That rug really tied the stage together.
Load bearing rug?
You know, thats just.. like your opinion man
It also helps prevent them from being electrocuted.
Giggles y'all
Maybe its the band and stage that tied the rug together... No, really. Mayer is one hell of a weaver. You should see the doily that he knitted my grandmother...
Us older hippies can still kick it listening to this out in the bush a little trip its all good love it
The music never stopped ❤️
I sure hope it never stops ! ❤️🌹🙏🏻🧚♀️🧚🏿♂️🧚🏼🧜♀️🧜♂️🧜❤️🫶🏼✌️👽🪐😱👻🙀😿😥😓😇🙏🏻they r very good ! Thank u Bob Weir
Excited for Mayer to bridge the generations. Some of the best songs would pass away in sorts. Keep it goin.
I grew up with a novice knowledge of the Dead, based on my Skeletons in the Closet Greatest Hits CD.
It wasn’t until JM joined and started playing the tunes that true Dead fans love and revere, and I never even heard before, that I fell in live with those deeper cuts. Turns out that my three favorite songs have sprung from this newfound devotion brought on my John, Jeff and Otiel: Terrapin, Eyes of the World and this beauty.
Thank you, John Mayer!
@@matthewpowers1920 dude, bro right on, right on! BTWS what about Dire Wolf and Franklin's Tower? Later, Gator!
Oteil is killing it!
The most under rated member of the band. Neither he nor Jeff are featured enough.
SO much better than before!
I was there for this show, about 8 rows back on Jeff's side. What a great night.
Was at this show. I highly recommend you listen to this show's Standing On The Moon and Terrapin Station.
Prro te sigo encontrando en videos de John Mayer :v, saludos carnal desde San José CA.
Agreed great renditions of Both. The first set really blows my mind
I am 444
Good lookin out bro, I'll check those out next 🤙
Bass, bass, we got Bass like never before - thank you Lord!
And one the best in the business hands down.
John Mayer does not get the recognition he deserves.... Bob weir is fantastic but John is amazing here. I love jerry but John is a sublime alternative. Who thought we would be enjoying GD music in 2019!!! Just be "grateful"
I am very grateful!
terryhavard1 I agree and I took a ton of shit when I expressed that opinion. This is without a doubt the best band there ever was.
So wrong. Mayer sucks
Well they chose him, they kept him, so I guess we're stuck with him. He's really good but still not seeing the fit. Gimme Trey or Warren any day.
Oh come on. Not that it's bad - I'll surely go see them again, but best ever? Better check the Europe '72 version. No intrusive funk-bass either.
I love John Mayer's voice. He brings some of the same plaintiveness that Jerry brought to the table. And, btw, Bob Weir is highly underrated IMHO. His carefully placed rhythm guitar licks have always provided the foundation on which Jerry & John Mayer have soared. And yes, it's NOT the Grateful Dead, but it's pretty damn close and beautiful nevertheless.
I think Bobby is probably the best rhythm player I've ever seen, and I've seen a few...
@@bloomz1 How do you assess that?
@@pawelzabicki7785 Just seen a shitload of guitar players....
@@bloomz1 you are quite correct Bobby has always been over shadowed and lost in the shuffle or overlooked
I love bobby ive seen him over 150 times after.jery passed but the one guy that competez with weir especially when you throw in the voice is dave mathews
Sometimes u couldn’t hear Jerry as well as John but Jerry was full of emotion & he really was a hurting man all his life but music made it better but thank god John took his place & does his own thing by not trying to b Jerry ! Much respect to John Mayer ! ❤❤❤❤
Omgggg I can’t wait going to see these guys August 28th at Hershey Stadium!!!! Excited much!!!!
i love how no one is recording, everyones grooving
Mayer is rocking an AP Concept. Is there nothing that man can't have?
I must admit , after Jerry passed .. it was a Spot that could Never be filled.. but John Mayer has the most Amazing Perfect fit in the Band .. Really Cool , and has the Touch .. I think Jerry would Highly approve ..
that little lyrical guitar lick at 2:27 , awesome.
I could watch the drummers all day
Bought this cd on nugs favorite dead and company show. The set is out of this world
That PRS is a beauty!
millertime10588 Isn’t it , Amazing guitars and he shreds
I'm new to these guys love the dead John definitely impressed me from the stuff been listening to
Fantastic music from the band. JM and Jeff are killing it
Amazing work from Oteil on this one
This song reminded me of a soul I used to be connected to
Sung with conviction. Bravo !!!
Oteil fait un travail remarquable à la basse, du bonheur !!
Great job! Loved it!
I hope I get to see this live
Oteils face in the opening shows that these guys really enjoy what they’re doing
This is the best version of this song... I put it on my iPod it's so iconic
Thats magical!!!
Holy crap, that was good.
Johnny Salammi has made the transition from Chad to Fam
I do really have the greatest respect for this new band that I have begun to love but will always miss my Jerry ! ❤️🐰🌹🐇❤️🔥💥☄️🪐👽💀☠️👻🎼🎶🎵🎹
Great jam!

That 2 part guitar solo was fire!
Is he so great... I say yes keep it going thank you John you are awesome love to Jerry he would be proud smile smile smile
Oteil has a clear sound on this one. Very present
InfamousMedia he’s an absolute groove master.
Jonh kills this
right in his wheelhouse
JM has received criticism from some Deadheads in comparison to Garcia.
Jerry will always be the man and foundation of the band. His style and contribution will never be able to be replicated evidently, yet I believe Dead and Co should be embraced, especially for today’s audience. I’m from Australia and the Dead craze never really caught on here. It wasn’t until I studied in the States that someone introduced me, but I never took to the Dead until I got back home. Now I’d love to see Dead & Co in concert as a nod to the culture that the band has produced and for a live appreciation for the genius of Jerry Garcia. This said, I believe Mayer is a masterclass guitarist and should be appreciated for his influence to modern guitarists.
I’ve met a few American Cali immigrants here in Australia and the first thing I ask is a Grateful Dead story. One spoke about that the band had a thing where a giant inflatable house would land in the middle of the car park before a show to trip everyone out? Can anyone confirm that?
I hope to make it over for the summer shows 🌹💀🧸
Matthew Lawton whatever happen to ain’t no time to hate? I guess the acid-laced brotherhood of the 60’s never stuck.
Matthew Lawton looks like other members of the actual band disagree with you. Must be a shame for you to be so wrong.
Matthew Lawton Tell us of your most memorable Grateful Dead experience that you’ve had.
Straight banger
Guitar solo at 1.25x is one of the greatest I’ve ever heard!
What a big man & so good at what he does !❤️❤️🌹🌹🐰🐇💥❤️🔥☄️👽🪐👻😱😵💫😘
I was at this show!! Tripped balls...
Miss you Jerry❤ RIP big man😎
Gracias
Glad to see Phil finally got some sun

See y'all at Shoreline and Hollywood bowl 2019
I love the visuals behind them so cool ! ♥️🤣🤭😱✌️❤️🌹🐰🧚🏼🧚🏿♂️🧚♀️🧜♀️🧜♂️🧜🙏🏻👻🪐👽♥️♥️❤️❤️🌹🌹🌹love & peace
I’m so glad that others came into the scene for us poor deadheads that couldn’t afford nugnets !
hell yes
John made this song so much better in my opinion. I love this version!
No doubt John Mayer is seriously talented. I think he has stepped in and showed courage. Please please dont ever suggest that he has taken a Jerry song and made it better? That is actually quite absurd
@Nuteral Gamer
Its not even worth taking time to argue about.
@@JackHawk78 It's not a suggestion, it's an opinion. If something sounds better to your ears then that's simply how it is. Nothing absurd about it and nothing to argue about.
He didn’t make it better but different ! ❤️🌹🙏🏻✌️🫶🏼👽🪐👻🧜🧜♂️🧜♀️🧚🏼🧚🏿♂️🧚♀️💀☠️♥️
Grateful dead fans are the best. Embracing John in the comments is the nicest thing
as a brown eyed woman this makes me feel oh so good
I’m a green eyed woman but I do love brown eyes for men too !
not quite like seeing it in 1972! but great job john ! It's awesome to see the band is still bringing it !
🥰 love it! Have fun this coming fall..
women with green eyes are much more special btw 😁😉
And the "old band " never was the same again.......
The band, with John Mayer HAS gotten tighter over the years 😊❤🎉and I will see them as long as they play together.....Why don't DEAD & CO. release VIDEO/ DVD 'S of the year's they have toured ?? I would love to own the shows I took in over the years, anyone have any answers ?
So good! NFA🌹🌹
John Mayer dictionnaires des guitaristes de A/Z👍👍👍🧢🧢🧢❤💚💯
I love John’s pants ! They r so together now ! I just love it long live the Dead ! ❤️🐰🌹🐇☮️❤️❤️🔥💥😱😵💫🥰👿👹🧛♂️happy Halloween everybody when it gets here !
One more day left before the official Halloween day 😫👺☠️😈👹🎃👽🙀♥️♣️♦️♠️
One in-ear in one out is the way to go. Sometimes if I'm comfortable I take em both out cuz you dont get the same feel with in-ears as just open. There's a certain raw connection that only comes when your ear has direct contact with the space around you.
Dios , John está cada día mejor que hombre
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh John 🤤
John Mayer = Awesome
Ian Murawski has been scheduled to play some music sometime in September a to night run in September

⚡💙👏🎶🎸⚡
I was at this concert!! Terrrapppiinn balls
Me too!!
I remember when everyone hated on John for joining and they all had nothing to say but to dance when the music played..
With a two night run of music
I’ve Always Prefered Brown eyed Women!
That solo...
Gone are the days when the ox fall down,
Take up the yoke and plow the fields around.
Gone are the days when the ladies said' "Please,
Gentle Jack Jones won't you come to me."
Brown-eyed women and red grenadine,
The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean.
Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down,
And it looks like the old man's getting on.
1929 when he stepped to the bar, drank to the dregs of the whiskey jar.
1930 when the wall caved in, he made his way selling red-eyed gin.
Brown-eyed women and red grenadine,
The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean.
Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down,
And it looks like the old man's getting on.
Delilah Jones was the mother of twins,
Two times over and the rest were sins.
Raised eight boys, only I turned bad,
Didn't get the lickin's that the other ones had.
Brown-eyed women and red grenadine,
The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean.
Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down,
And it looks like the old man's getting on.
Tumble down shack in Big Foot county.
Snowed so hard that the roof caved in.
Delilah Jones went to meet her God,
And the old man never was the same again.
Daddy made whiskey and he made it well.
Cost two dollars and it burned like hell.
I cut hickory just to fire the still,
Drink down a bottle and be ready to kill.
Brown-eyed women and red grenadine,
The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean.
Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down,
And it looks like the old man's getting on.
Sound of the thunder with the rain pourin' down
Ian and Jordan bros podcast is back this weekend on Saturday
dead reborn
Looks like you enjoyed yourself John. Nice+
Love Oteil in this
Louder please! Thank you!
Was listening on Spotify but the audio quality is much better here... not sure why the Spotify version is so muffled
I get what you are saying brother... Sometimes things should just run there course and end gracefully, The kid Bob wants it to continue.
Dang. 😁
WOW. At 4:13 Bob Weir's chording sounds like a brass section.
Loving John Mayer.
Bill what’s good with the shirt
I've been learning this song for my band, and I've been studying various Grateful Dead versions from all eras. Then I figured "Hey lets see what John does in this..." so i come here, and the tempo is like 20 bpm slower hahaha. Too funny. Such a different feel.
You should check the one they did on Fallon if you haven't yet; that one is faster. You're right though! Very different feel at this tempo
That version is so good when I first heard it I had to rip it to MP3 to put on my phone.
the version from Boulder in 2017 is great if you can find it.
Tyler Murrel yes it was great.
I'm going back to Boulder to see Dead and Company this July.
Then you should know your rhythm section determines the tempo.
