Rome is no Bradley but the man can sing.
I know Rome gets a lot of hate for trying to fill such legendary shoes but I don't think he is trying to fill them. I think he just wants to pay homage and respect and allow the former members a way to continue playing their music as well. He seems like a really humble kid. Talented too.
He also really nails Bradley's singing voice imo. I agree about him wanting to pay homage, seems more concerned with accurate renditions of the covers than using the sublime name to go in his own direction.

Personally I love Rome’s voice but I honestly feel Eric and bud are trying to make money off of brads name and Rome is trying too hard to be brad.
On truly yours, Rome has a hand full of really decent songs.....not many but there’s a good 3-5 decent songs.
I feel if he stopped trying to be his idol and just did his own thing and not name the band “Sublime w/Rome” that they would have better luck

Who gives a flying fuck who is the lead singer it’s not like he jumped in under Sublime and went with it yet payed homage to sublime, knowing Sublime before they blew up they were nothing more then a LB backyard party band playing COVERS!

I think these guys did a great job of reinventing and presenting this song. The significantly slower tempo along with their shining vocals allows us to appreciate this song in a new light.
Try the original acoustic version. Much slower and meant to be sung alone. Almost a different song entirely.
Coming from a seasoned Sublime fan, Rome kicks ass.

I have been a die hard Sublime fan since 95 or so. I made all my friends listen till they were crazy, I still listen to them like crazy. I didn't have high hopes for Rome, I'm hard to please AFter hearing Rome and seeing him live in Tucson, I am officially in Rome lala land. I am THRILLED to have Sublime back, Rome is amazing, I'm in love all over again. In a way it's like rediscovering all these things I love about Sublime, now they have a slightly new, different flavor and I love it.

The same is true for anyone who likes Alice In chains, after Staley died, that new guy I don't know is not as good as a replacement for Alice in chains as Rome was for Sublime.

I think they're both good. Rome is just slightly better at emulating Brad's style and vocal delivery IMO
Not a knock on William as much as a testament to just how unique Layne's voice was... it's about more than just hitting the right notes. Layne's vocals are pretty hard to replicate.

I've been listening to Sublime since the beginning. No Rome will never be Bradley everyone knows that including him but one of the best bands to ever play gets to play live shows again and that's something special. I saw them last month and they brought the damn house down and gave mad respect to Bradley.

You can't beat Sublime and Gwen on stage with their energy, but I enjoy this version more than the original and I am a longtime die hard Sublime fan. I thought everyone was good in this song and it may have been one of those once in a lifetime performances that came out better than expected. I love the song though. Bring the haters on!

+Bryan Torres Honestly..I agree that Rome is a talented individual, but to say that he has more emotion when he sings is purely ignorant. Bradley's music was pure emotion. Rome just has a better voice. That doesn't mean he has more emotion or passion. The fact that they wanted to continue with the band isn't the issue. Its the fact that the name Sublime was used, when the family of Bradley, clearly did not want it to be and rightfully so. They could have still played the songs in concert even if they chose to, but to try to make the band relevant again, when it didn't need to be done was a little ridiculous. I admire Rome for his talent, passion and even for his love of what sublime had built up before him, but realistically speaking, he comes nowhere close to Bradley and never will. He DOES have more of a singers voice and can hit notes Bradley couldn't, but he still will never compare. Period.

I think it’s a little disrespectful to continue to call themselves ‘Sublime’, but Bud and Eric were just as much founding members as Brad, and that’s their right whether I like it or not. That said, why this kid? I’m just a dumbass electrician, and I can play and sing these songs a LOT better than him. They could’ve done better, and after having played for years with Brad I would think they’d want to.

I have met both kat and eric because they have both recorded and toured with my friends the band john wayne and the pain. both are super nice people -- Even if you don't like this track, you can't deny these are some talented musicians. I give my props.
brad would probable be stoked the sublime is still playing and performing the songs that meant so much to him. especially because he never got to experience the fame that came along with being in a huge rock band. rome pays a huge homage to brad every time he sings, you can tell the mad amount of respect he has for brad.

Yes, that is a sad fact, but it's undeniable. Brad will forever be in our hearts too. If you sit down and really listen to Rome, you'll learn to realise that he pays a fitting homage. And you can bet your last dollar that Brad is probably watching down from where ever he is and smiling.
