Great interview,. Thanks Jenny for explaining the idea behind the Rally Raid CB500X, put to bed a number of my questions. Cheers
Just want to say thank you for the whole CB500X Rally Raid series. Super informative, well done, love seeing how it can be done at home with hand tools. I may never put on more than a level one suspension kit (the stock suspension is for a lighter person) but I am shopping for a used CB500X now because of your series.
Great interview and helpful to hear the background rationale for the RR build. Impressively broad appeal for the mid-weight ADV community.
Very informative. Thank you
That’s why i ride a xt660z Tenere. Good job with the cb.
Such a great vid
I always look forward to your videos and adventures. The CB500X RR (Rally Raid) seems to me to be the ideal adventure bike.
Thanks Terry!
'Seems' is a very apt word to use.
Just read through all the other comments and noted that you said you would add fork boots and an aux plate. Please let us know what boots you added and can you tell us how much we can add to the draw on the electrical system for stuff like GPS, heated gear, and extra lighting. I plan to use a CB500X as a short haul and winter bike and use my other bike for trips
Oh..I'm 6 years behind!
The CB is more like a Labrador with a bit of Rotti when you need it an, it’s the best bike for short asses an beginners too.
The 690 is like hangin onto a raging bull an the hight is crazy.
Could you please provide a link to the cb 500 x gear, I can't seem to find it on the rally raid uk site...
Oops...here ya go. thanks! www.cb500xadventure.com/ and in the U.S.at Giant Loop...www.giantloopmoto.com/product-category/rally-raid-products-honda-cb500x/
Funny how a year or so ago I seemed to see used CB500X all over the place for cheap...now harder to find and holding value. I blame this awesome kit and the adventure bike revolution to the smaller side.
Thanks Spyder...I hope we are slowly changing the hearts and minds of consumers and manufacturers to embrace smaller, more adventurous bikes. New CB500X's are on sale here in Ca. for just $4999, used ones still out there.
BMW sales are slowing...www.autoevolution.com/news/bmw-motorrad-sales-in-the-us-are-plummeting-108507.html
Wow! Just looked at a 2016 CB500X ABS in CT, the sticker was $6,799.
A review (when you have the time) of the cb500x and the RR parts & how they are surviving with 20k miles on the bike would nice +future mods and how long you intend to run this bike. I enjoyed the interview, many thanks :-)
Good Idea! Not much future mods planned - A Scorpion Exhaust and an Aux plate for electrics and fork boots are on my list. The only casualties so far have been the tail rack (New improved design coming to replace broken one), a leaky fork seal due to lack of fork boots (dinged the leg with a stone), and the bash plate is pretty hammered but quite functional after 14,000 miles of abuse. The bike and kit runs and operates like new at 20,000 miles total time. A KEEPER!
Juan, I'm getting ready to purchase a new 2016 cb500x(A 2 yr left over bike at a significant discount), so I would you throw a rough cost on everything that you did to yours, because I can't get an idea online.....thanks, Phil
about $3500-$4000 in upgrades.
