    This should be shown in elementary, middle school, high school and college. Their should be class about how bad the plastic garbage is affecting our oceans, seas and environment in general. Replace CRT classes with environmental classes based on truth and data.

      It is an infinitesimal number of people who have ever had a CRT class. This needs to be taught on a much grander scale than that.

      Unfortunately, it'll never happen.
      Why?
      Because nobody actually gives a shit.
      At least, nobody that has power anyway.
      It takes people like this woman to actually do anything.
      And NOBODY like her exists in positions of power.
      We, are killing ourselves, it's just a matter of time at this rate.
      Enjoy life while you have it, experience nature while it's still there.
      The future can only be bright, if something changes, and in reality, nothing ever changes until it's too late, or damn near it.

    The way those nurdles "find their way" into the ocean, is not only via consumer irresponsability, but also by corporate negligence. We should hold corporations accountable for the massive amounts of waste they dump into our rivers, streams, and waterways.

    • @glenjamindle
      @glenjamindle Před 8 měsíci

      Corporations don't have anything to do with this problem. The oceans trash comes from China and India along with other countries that do not have a waste management system in place. Have you seen the mountains of garbage in the rivers of third world countries? All that makes its way downstream and right into the ocean.

    The many sad things humans don't understand is our food chain… ie:fish, and meat are now also consuming plastic particles, then we consume them. And Then we get catastrophic illnesses. I recently read medical articles that stated we are now finding microscopic pieces of plastic in the Human Brain… We really need to stop All plastic production. Let's get back to my grandparents era… food was all grown and things came in bags made of cotton products, (bags) or tin cans and glass jars. It worked for our ancestors. IT SHOULD WORK FOR US!

    Actually the environmentalists who are most vocal about plastic pollution are the people causing it. The most efficient and direct way to dispose of all plastics, paper, cardboard, newspapers, etc. is to burn it in high-temperature incinerators that then use the heat to produce electricity. It is done in my town in Massachusetts and Sweden is the world leader in this technology. This process would eliminate most of the plastic waste that ends up in the environment while producing the most valuable energy resource of all - electricity. But environmentalists are vehemently opposed to trash-to-energy plants and so we have more and more trash in our environment.

    1) "Education" and "Raising Awareness", or the lack thereof, is not the solution or the cause of littering. All of that stuff was was carelessly discarded by people who were educated, aware and knew what they were doing, but didn't care. 2) 100% of the piles of stuff floating in the Pacific would not change 1 bit if 100% of the people in the USA were caring and diligent in how they dispose of things and did not litter. That's because all of that came from other countries and cultures. They also know better, but simply don't care either.
