That 2pm-5pm heat is something 🥵
We have lived here for 3.5 years and absolutely love it. We all have different experiences, thank you for sharing yours. As far as the heat goes, allow me to quote the great Sam Kinison- “ITS THE F$&KING DESERT! WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT?” ❤️😍
Thanks for keeping it real. Your honesty is appreciated even if some viewers dont like it. Las Vegas is like most cities, good & bad.
Vegas is definitely a unique place. Couldn’t imagine living there. My ex and I would visit multiple times a year up until Covid lockdown. Doesn’t seem the same since
In all reality it's just another city when you live here I moved here in 2016 and live 20min from the strip and we had ent been to the strip in probably 3 or 4 yrs. As a local you learn very quickly to stay away from the strip and Fremont st. Unless you wanna end up with a sign on the end of a freeway🤣🤣
The Californian's took over Vegas and ruined it.
Steven, you ROCK. Love your commentaries, very straight and to-the-point.
😊😊😊great video. I came here first time in June of 1965. Visited here 565 times before retiring here almost 4 years ago. I LOVE Las Vegas but you have to learn how to MANAGE Las Vegas!
Well put my friend!
A las Vegas high school teacher warned me 20 years ago to be very careful who I meet in Las Vegas, more than any other city in America.
Yes, we have been here since 92. A lot of coat tail riders, there are nice people but more often than not, I have run into the types that want to use you for money, a ride, a job, then they get on their feet and ditch you. You can see the look of desperation in their eyes, that shifty look some have. we stay to ourselves now and have our circle of friends pretty small, you have to here.
@@kimwarner1681 good to know. Just moved here
@@Joshdifferent you’re welcome, just be aware
People are the same everywhere
@@Joshdifferent / If you don’t have gamble blood …. you will be OK .
Steven, thank you for being DIFFERENT!!
My pleasure! I try!
Just moved back to Cali after renting a room in Vegas for a year. Was going back and forth weekly as I kept my weekend job in Cali. Didn't see many insects and never a scorpion. Gf didn't see one in the almost 6 years there. No snakes either but many in Cali. Seen 3 rattler's in NorCal and one hiking below Griffith Observatory right before it reopened long ago.
One of the positives that connects to the opportunities you mentioned is it's exciting there. If you're bored you can hit numerous places that have people out enjoying themselves and that energy can rub off on you both good and bad but it's exciting. =)
I've been in Las Vegas a couple years now, and I have yet to see my first scorpion. I'm near the wash in East Las Vegas, and when it was raining a lot there were bugs in the air -- but normally, not so many.
Some guy had a scorpion in his underwear at the hotel
Great helpful Video Sir. I watched it all and enjoyed your insights on Vegas.
News flash: Las Vegas public schools have always been bad. Not just since weed was legalized. Nevada single biggest industry is gaming and Nevada has the lowest gaming tax rate by far in the U.S. at 6.75%. The public schools have always been underfunded, this is a self inflicted problem. The strip casinos are in unincorporated Clark County, this is not by accident.
Thank you for being honest!! I picked most of these issues, while visiting the city I ❤️ love!!
My wife and I love living in Vegas! Both late 20’s, no kids, two dogs!
Hell yeah dude!
💯
tks for the info and being so honest thank you
Great commentary as always Steven ❤️🙏🙏🙏
Good report brother. Thank you.
Nice to see you’re still watching my man.
I am a subscriber and I do enjoy your video's. 100% of what you speak about is true, our family lived there from '69 through '82. I've been back a few times over the years, it's changed quite a bit. Thanks for sharing!
@@dennisconnolly1 those were the good years.
Planning on moving from SoCal to retire but we are planning on renting for at least a year before buying.
You never know and don’t want to get stuck!!!
I moved here two in a half years ago and I have to agree Vegas is an introverts worst nightmare.
Another great video!
Thanx Steven very informative! Appreciate you we come to Vegas every summer we love the heat but I never really want to live there . The bugs and drugs etc.
No matter how hot it gets, it's still better than a 90 degree ultra humid day in Florida!!!! I was in Vegas one time where the temp was 117, and I left my casino cards in the car - I returned to a melted blob of plastic. Live and learn.........had to go get all new cards.
I agree i moved here from Florida panhandle. Way hotter in Florida. And flying roaches in Florida. I dont miss those
Excellent presentation Steven! Very interesting, very informative! Looking forward to the next one! (I encounter black widow spiders in socal, hoping i don't get bitten!)
I remember several years ago my wife and I wanted to find a bar to have a nice quiet beer without machines making a rackety. We asked several bartenders on the strip where to go and were told it doesn't exist.
That’s funny because I do think it’s true. It’s been over 20 years since I lived in Vegas, and damn I think you are correct. I can’t remember a single bar that didn’t have slots. It has to exist but I sure don’t know where it is.
To quote Stevie Ray Vaughan: don’t bother knocking when this house is rocking
you won't find one, sadly...they even have them in the grocery stores and gas stations here. all about gaming and tourism, everything else comes last, even the schools here.
That’s not true, they exist. Just use resources, yelp, google.
Keeping it real. Well done, Steven.
Good Job Steve ! I see others trying to do the same video after you did yours , which doesn’t seem right. But keep up the good work !
wait who?
@NOTLeavingLV Ruby just did a video talking about things she hates about living in Las Vegas. It wasn't all negative, but it hit a lot of points. I can relate to it all. I lived in Vegas for three months in 2009 and it didn't work out so I left, anyway I've been coming to city for thirty years, so I know most of the valley. Las Vegas is a tough place. It's better to visit and explore the region and be off strip as much as possible, but don't move to the city at least not full time just my two cents
@@admiraladama2373 right. I made this video and then a few other channels did one just after. They all have merit and everything is subjective opinion. Thanks for watching.
Please talk about how bad Heathcare is here! Not all doctors but the hospitals geeze!
Looking to retire there. Heard health care in Vegas is not so great
You are a good man and honest, may the lord bless you with all that you need.
Encouraged by the scorching heat, you manage to successfully bring the Las Vegas experience to a high boil!
Would love to live in Vegas. Currently live in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely boring and nothing to do. So many amazing things to see in Vegas.
Ever heard the saying “Never meet your Heros”. Think about it…
Vegas can be boring too. I do trade shows and concerts. We have a busy and slow season.
True. Many locals are very friendly too since they know how bad a rep Vegas gets from visitors about bad experiences
@@LVScooter1 I did that for years as well, summer is very slow and then September hits and your head spins...lol

TY for sharing what happened with your friend. I can't imagine how tough that must have been for you. Prayers up ❤
My Mother in Law had melanoma, which was removed, but she won't go outside much at all now, even though she is cancer free. And this is in Ohio so it just goes to show it can happen to anyone anywhere.

Love you bro!
glad you mentioned how transient it is! there are people moving in and out constantly. you'll likely never see most people again.
I will move to Vegas in 2 years! Can’t wait. I feel soooo alive there
❤ great job my friends..
Too hot - in summer
too cold - in winter
Vegas
----
I refer California
Thanks for that, it was very enlightening. I’ve been vacationing in Las Vegas for the past thirty years. I agree with you that things have changed, and have become crazier, and not in a good way. I used to dream about living in Las Vegas full time. Not anymore. I just visit, and that’s good enough for me. If the prices get any higher and I can’t find good deals anymore, I might visit other places instead, sad to say.
Your water clip was misleading. We use about 145 gallons a day.Last months bill was$45.20
Right!!! From $60 - $800. Talk about exaggeration .
Oh cool, you lived in Lake Tahoe! That's awesome. I grew up in Truckee, CA. It's interesting - Truckee and Lake Tahoe, depending on which side of the lake you're on, can be as different from each other as Reno and Las Vegas are. I'm so over the cold, wet snow, though. Been dealing with it my whole life! Worst case scenario, maybe living in Vegas will make me appreciate the snow and cold.
He's not lying about the heat, I grew up near there. The seasons are: Winter, cold, windy, blowing sand, spring, cold, windy turning to hot windy, blowing sand, summer, HOTTT, like an oven, you WILL spend most of your time indoors in a/c, fall, back to windy, cold, blowing sand. As a kid, my pets were tarantulas, scorpions, lizards & tortoises, & I peaced-outta there ASAP. This was a very accurate & informative video, what doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger.✌🏼
Thanks!
we have lived here since 92 and I have yet to see a scorpion, thank God, but I have seen small lizards. Blue Diamond area is having a scorpion issue, I think from all the developing, maybe , and my husband was military, he did see them on base but nothing in the main parts of town, at least not for us.
Living in Phoenix we hit the official high of 122 in the mid nineties, Las Vegas is a little cooler and likely drier given we have a monsoon season.
I appreciate this info as I am thinking about moving to Vegas. Maybe I should get an airbnb there for a month and see if that suits me before making a big move.
I would recommend at least six months to get a true feel for living here, one month won't really do it.
@@kimwarner1681😊
The absolute worst thing about living in Vegas is the constant traffic and construction.
Red light runners
Portland traffic is probably worse
I think I could make the move & it wouldn't be a big adjustment. I am a California native living in the central valley. We, also, get stupid hot summers & crummy winters. The only thing southern Nevada gets that we don't- I was visiting Las Vegas a few years ago when wind storm kicked up. A brown layer from the desert rose up & everyone w allergies and/or breathing problems ran for the indoors. Me? I dug out my old mask, not because of any virus, but to keep that crap out! Would I still move to LV? Hmm. Yah....I think I might!
Hi Steven. I was in Vegas in July of 2021. While at the mob museum, my phone said it was 119 degrees...while I believe you on the temp, it seems it has gotten hotter then 117...
the advertising temp here gets dumbed down so they don't scare off the tourists, same with the suicides and incidents involving missing / off'd prostitutes at some strip hotels. I used to work in marketing for a strip casino, I would see the security reports because they would confuse my office with security (go figure) they keep it off the news
I loved the heat being there
I lived there a year. I liked it. The heat to me was crazy
I think that the water shortages are going to be the biggest issue for many. Limited opportunities to garden.
Living here, i've often wondered why businesses dont change their hours in the summer. Why not be open at 6 am ? The suns been uo for half an hour and its only going to get hotter after that ! Its very nice in the early hours to live life here. But unfortunate that very little can get done that early ! Id have my shopping, car washed, laundry done early enough to go eat out for breakfast !
June 2017 I was in Death Valley and it was 130!!
Love this city but let me be honest Vegas is and will always be my number 1 vacation destination not a place to reside in for permanent residence 😁
So what doesn't help with the education system is they do something not every state does, they combine the testing of ESL and english speaking which causes the scores to be lower than some may think. I found this out from my Boss's wife who is a teacher and it also depends a lot on location of where you are, northern area isn't fantastic, it is way better to the south. It is a weird thing in Vegas. So far I've talked to my buddy that been there about 4-5 years so far and hasn't shockingly seen a scorpion at all . I've learned so far to just set aside 20-30 dollars every few weeks and only spend that gambling or none at all. The friendship thing I can see being a major issue, but I was lucky and have a friend and have become close to some communities in the Vegas area. Thanks for another fantastic video.
The highest recorded temperature is now 120. Electric bills are ridiculous.
My son-in-law got a job there in March and my daughter will be moving with the kids next week. I’m not going to say where it is but let’s just say it’s a government job. Vegas is only about 1000 miles from my house and we go twice a year, so it’s not gonna be too bad because we will already be down there for NASCAR. She keeps laughing at me because she thinks it’s warm all the time. And I’m like you’ve been watching us in march down there for years it’s freaking cold.
You can still buy sod at Star nursery
Gotta say never saw it and because of the Mrs I spend way too much time there. I trust you’re right. Thanks for the correction.
With all the cons about Vegas, we still talk about moving there one day or somewhere closer. It’s cold here in buffalo. Good idea people try it for a month first 👍
I would say you have to give it longer than that to truly get a feel for living here. we have been here since the 90's, it can get under your skin, no real sense of community despite having some very nice neighborhoods. I am from back east and it is normal to know your neighbors or talk sometimes. Here, if someone comes up to you to talk, no matter how nice they come off, they want something. just beware.
@@kimwarner1681 ty excellent advice. Not sure we will ever make the move but I love visiting that’s for sure😊
@@LisaLisa-jd5mv I loved visiting here as well but living here is totally different, lol. It can get under your skin & the fatal accidents every single day is out of control here now. It has upsides but just know our car insurance is sky high & we are great drivers, nothing on our records but you will pay for the party crew here…
The "official" temps for Vegas are bullshit. A lot of people don't realize, they take the official temp at the airport, in the shade. It's not reality. You can travel literally 5min east of the strip and see temps that are 10-15 degrees hotter. And one of the hottest areas in the whole city is typically Flamingo and Boulder Highway. Anyway, I was born and raised in Vegas and even I never got used to the brutal summers. We're outside Nashville now, summers here are nothing compared to the desert. Vegas is a depressing ass place to actually live and survive.
You’d rather have that nasty humidity and bugs than desert heat? My mom and dad are from Tennessee so I’ve spent plenty of time there. It’s awful.
@@holdenc3082 lol... It's hotter in Vegas. It's funny people move to the desert and then try and justify the summer temps as "iTs jUsT a DRy hEaT". Vegas is fckn miserable in summer time.
@Ryan-ds2wx please, humid heat is way worse than dry heat.
@@Jenny8675309songhumid heat worse for sure like New Orleans for example
The official temps are not bullshit. That's how you measure temperature according to meteorological standards.
Now, if you want to say that the official temperature is slightly misleading because it's shade temperature, that's different.
Great info Steven, Paradise in the desert is not what it appears to be. I could not live there for many of the reasons you mentioned the two main reasons !I am a 30 year sober alcoholic andI have had 6 sunstroke episode (2 severe ones). I am glad you are still enjoying it there, but, if I may not sure you are. You are a smart, talented young guy who could be doing something else. They say ‘follow your passion’ if this is it way to go, if not?.. I followed my passion as tough as it was of 45 year in graphic design was it really money maker, not really, but it was my passion.
Then one day I was told” if you don’t inherit it, steal it or win it you will not make it working for living” ,in some ways that is true. Anyway I was a kid from the best time ever( the 60’s) and somehow survived and rockin at 77. Remember, with a good family you have everything, with bad health you have nothing. Take care Steven
This is why I live in Lincoln County some 90 miles NE of Downtown Las Vegas.
Hi Steven.
Working fine for me
I’ll be there next week for ten nights with my 70 year old dad
You should move to south central Wisconsin. Between Beloit and Madison. Close to Chicago, close to Milwaukee.
What I like about Vegas is the brutal honesty of the gambling industry. Think you’re smart? Think you’ve got a system to beat the house? They say come at us, because we will send you home with empty pockets.
Between 2021 and 2022 my friend was getting cancer treatment in Mexico. His son has a restore health clinic in Texas. At any rate when he was down there getting treatment, I asked him later before he passed away, that did they test or wear masks or whatever in Mexico when he was down there receiving treatment. He said no they didn’t test. They didn’t ask any questions. Nobody was wearing a mask. And here in America, everybody was losing their minds. I know it’s controversial and everybody has their own beliefs, but I found this really interesting. They also said that the Mexican people which he was I say was because he passed away from a stomach aneurysm, that everybody down, there was very, very nice. I’ve only been to Mexico a few times and I guess one doesn’t count because we were at Cabo because that’s a resort town really and that’s where we were and of course everybody was really really nice. The other time was when I was a teenager and we went to Tijuana. We spent the day doing stuff but I was a kid, so what do I know?
I lived in Vegas for 20 years...The hotteat i remeber is 118° amd it lasted like that for almost a week. Then it was 110°-114° the rest of the summer.
I decided to move when NV energy tripled the rates.
Be aware of the astronomical energy bills, water bills, and gas living in Vegas.
Also, the self deletion is a huge issue.
Golf courses seem mighty green.
Parks too.
People enjoy gambling without an addiction in most cases. They are not addicts for playing slot machines in the grocery store. If you enjoy something and enjoy doing it a lot, this does not make you an addict.
Enjoyed the video Steven. Don't know if you're doing a LIVE on Sunday the 9th, but it might be interesting to walk over to Sunset park and show us the hoopla ahead of the Trump rally. Hope you're having a good weekend!

People don’t know until they move there. Once you do you find out how stagnant and incompetent this state really is. Majority of low lives.
I live in Summerlin, I don't think I could live anywhere else anymore.
I love Solitude . Friends can get you into trouble
We moved to Vegas in 2006 and it was less expensive and a fairly affordable place to live back then, cheaper than the college town I grew up in and it had less crime. Things have definitely changed. Something just shifted in a bad way around the time of Covid and the lockdowns. Everything got more expensive, people seem to be more angry, and even several years later.. things are far from normal. I still like living here but the vibe has changed in this city. I'm still hoping that time will even things out but I'm not seeing it so far.
I enjoy your videos Steven and I like that you cover some of the less happy happy aspects of the city. I also like that you show people that Vegas isn't just a small flashy street for tourists, real people really do live here and there's much more to Vegas than The Strip.
The angry people are everywhere. Try living in the Maryland, DC, northern Virginia areas. I moved here from California. These are the angriest most passive aggressive miserable people on the planet. Most of them are just here because it’s a good place to make money and they are just trying to hang on until retirement. It’s a constant battle while living around these people to avoid turning into one of them.
22:27 Just my 2 cents on education since I subbed regularly pre/post COVID and during COVID: It's always been bad, but it's worse now because student behavior took a sharp decline when students returned to in-person instruction. Also, both the students and teachers are transient-- many from California. HUGE teacher shortage now.
(Thank you for making these videos and I hope you're well)
Great insight thanks.
Hi there from flushing new York
I don't think Lake Mead is gonna last past 2026-27, but I don't know much about this year's spring thaw.

Las Vegas generates its own all there is is Rock mortar buildings asphalt mountains dirt rocks there's hardly anywhere to get shade it wasn't meant for people to live in a desert
that's nonsense as much of the human population lives in deserts all over the world and always has- think of where jesus came from as one example

@@NOTLeavingLV I have to admit I was wrong in this case and I apologize. This world is so full of negativity that you could help by putting more positives in your vlogs. It would be refreshing.
@@tlp-googa7752 all good thanks so much for keeping an open mind and have a great weekend!
As a Canuck who used to go before Covey it was great but LV is an expensive city to live you need a car as transit really sucks. Its not as easy as everyone says to get a good job. Although you have wealthy areas there are MANY 'seedy' areas too and just go right down town or to naked city and see for yourself. Also healthcare in NV isnt very good had a friend who had to sue the hospital after botched foot operation.
Lived in Vegas early 70's. Pretty cool place to live back then. Wanted to move back, but just never happened. I won't think I'd want to live there now. Too much crime, homelessness for me.
Can you do a video about moving with kids? Feeling pressure from family to move closer to them in Las Vegas, but I'm worried.
Invest in after school activities from educational, sports, or hobbies. The schools are bad as in extremely underfunded not necessarily crime, drugs, and bullying which comes to mind when you hear bad schools. I'm from CA so infamous for indoctrination and secrecy in schools yet my son's school was actually very open weekly patriotic family events open to all and the staff and teachers really encouraged parents to be involved in their kids academics. Here the campuses are closed campus meaning no parents allowed it makes you feel so out of the loop of what's going on with your child and they bus many kids so you really don't have much to do with the school. And the teachers although not mean or bad people just really seem likes it's strictly a job to them no passion in the job. Besides school it's been great for the kids make sure to rent or buy where there's a community pool or pool on property will keep them busy and refreshed most neighborhoods are HOA unfortunately so might as well make sure there's a damn pool for those monthly fees.
looks like you're going to break the 117 record. Today!!!!
Mabuhay Campbell's

u forgot to mention the very high electricity costs and u need a lot of it to cool
I agree with you on the Covid thing. I think we did things we didn’t need to, but we didn’t know and I say we I say as America. It was new and if you went against it, you were the bad guy and that’s sad. I had friends that did everything right And got it. I have friends that passed away from it. I don’t take it lightly at all but I think quarantining everybody was not the right way to go. We went to the NASCAR race in February of that year and I got really sick but urgent care said I had Bronchitis which I don’t disagree with and after two days the medication I was given I was like it never even happened. Then everybody in our group started getting a cold. Did they have it? Who knows we will never know. We didn’t test and it was too early. I get that they thought they were protecting people, but I hope that they learned their lesson and when I say they, I mean those in charge. The government. Whatever are used to be up on how the states fared that didn’t do what the liberal states did but it’s been so long now and it’s in the past. I don’t even care anymore. We didn’t go to the race in the so-called fall that year because they had closed it all shut it down. And then we resumed in 2021 but we had to wear a mask in the outdoors where there were 165,000 people. I took my mask down and took a drink from my drink, and this Man from security came up and started yelling at me before I even had a chance to put my mask back on. Meanwhile, this guy who was very drunk about five rows down, didn’t have his mask on at all and we watched for probably an hour and then finally somebody went down there and said something. I think they didn’t want to cause any issues because of him being so drunk. Because we all know things can go badly but I have a feeling somebody went and complained. Oh that’s right it was my husband after I got told off about putting my mask on after I took a drink of my drink he went and told on that guy and that’s when they went down.
Give some news we moved here in 1974 and slot machines have been in 7-11 and grocery stores back then it’s definitely not new thing!
@NOTLeavingLV Steven, do you know what casinos/buffets have the local's discounts for dining?
Honestly none that I know of.
Search "Las Vegas resident discount". Call ahead to confirm as some may be no more since the properties arbitrarily reserve the right to end and sites may not update.
It used to be cheap like Wichita Kansas
@@erich84502ify Vegas is cheap just not the cool/fun parts like the strip or downtown adjacent lol. I have friends who live on the outskirts and everything is affordable but extremely bland and depressing they say
The education system seems to be broken every where in the US. I personally feel like teachers have given up because they have been treated so poorly. Like a fancy school being built doesn't mean you're attracting top talent teachers or even have decently sized class rooms.
