Kurenai was best lady but got screwed over hard by Kishimoto’s incompetence when writing women. How sad that her dad basically said your job is to have kids. No reason why her Genjutsu couldn’t have been useful or powerful. Her video game self was a lot better than anything Kishimoto tried to do with her.

She can seal kekei gengai,enter into your mind,trap motlre than one two people in genjutsu, can travel through surface,floral genjutsu and got a 4 in taijutsu.
Everyone talks about how she lost to Itachi but no-one talks about how she escaped from itachi's genjutsu almost immediately and Itachi noted not to use genjutsu on her again. She also rivals Itachi in terms of genjutsu as both of them got a 5/5.she also got a 4 in ninjutsu meaning she had other tricks up her sleeve.

Trying to put Itachi in a genjutsu wasn’t actually stupid or funny thing, she didn’t know itachis abilitys and his genjutsu level and she was an genjutsu specialist and she didn’t had a clan who is good in genjutsu or she didn’t had sharingan like Uchihas it was normal to trying put Itachi in a genjutsu it was her abilitys, like, what should she do? Taljutsu or smth? She is an genjutsu specialist and she was the strongest ninja in genjutsu in the leaf at the time. I wished we saw her more.

wrong. Even chyio from the desert village knew that uchiha specialize in genjutsu. Kurenai LIVED in konoha. Uchiha were founders of the village, everyone should've known their reputation. Kurenai wasn't a random genin who can be excused to be ignorant. She is a teacher, a high level ninja, she's supposed to be knowledgable. If genjutsu is her specialty then why is she oblivious to other clan's genjutsu abilities?
I think you vastly underestimate how ignorant she would have to be. You simply don't understand... we know about anime, then individual anime, dragonball, bleach, naruto, then you know about your work, electrical field for me, then I also know about the history of the world, europe, then current events, politicians, so many topics.
What the hell does kurenai know? Nothing. Same goes for almost all ninjas. Not even sasuke knew who madara was. And that guy lived about 50 years before him. I know about people from 5000 years ago.

It was unfortunate/sad that Kurenai wasn't able to be with Asuma (killed by the immortal Hidan) and that he wasn't able to be there for his daughter who was born sometime after the fourth shinobi war. Though she did end up carrying on how he used special ninja blades in battle which was way of honoring her father (RIP Asuma).
I'm sure Asuma and Kurenai would've married, if Asuma survived.

Lawd theres so much missed potential in the women of Naruto. Even Tsunade who I LOVE has a lot of missed potential.
How? She already had her arc and is one of, if the most, powerful healers in the world
@@alibrennan5977 kishimoto admitted he didn’t know how to write women into the story. Hence why Sakura and a lot of the other female characters got so little screen time and character development in comparison to their male counterparts. He tried making up for it by adding tsunade to fill in the female lead role which wasn’t too bad. But I mean i feel it could have been way more impactful. Because most of the flashbacks were seen through orochimarus flashbacks. No real detailed arc was centered around her past or anything. Shizune, kuranai, and tenten also didn’t get as much I feel they needed but honestly they were side characters so I don’t really see why they would prioritized. Although it would have been nice. Characters like tamari were basically just power scaling characters. Not even really side characters.

Do you remember the girl Yakumo Kurama who created the illusion of the Academy being struck by lightning, that’s something everyone believed to have actually happened. And you remember how she reacted & wanted to help but her father turned her & her friends down away from the fight to live another day to help the next generation grow. She shows great concern towards her students and takes a vested interest in their growth.

And was basically a badass ninja in the face of many threats. In a lot of cases when people say women are brave it’s cap and it’s usually in reference to modern women in real life/social media. But this one was legitimately braver than a lot of other shinobi. And was actually rational with her decision making.

People shit on her for using genjutsu on Itachi, but that's such a bad criticism considering genjutsu is her forte. She's noted for being a genjutsu prodigy and at the time the best in the leaf. What else was she supposed to do? Rush in with a kunai? Of course, she would use her most powerful skill against her opponent, not to mention they probably had no idea just how strong Itachi's genjutsu prowess was. And her failure wasn't even that bad considering in the manga Itachi praised her abilities.

Back when Naruto first started I thought she was a Uchiha clan member. A filler episode focused on Kurenai dragged down by Naruto's forced presence. Also I thought they said she moved to the leaf village not that she grow up in the village. Did they change that.

The fact that bothers me is that up to part 1 she's supposedly the best genjutsu user Konoha has to offer, being a genjutsu prodigy, she just was unlucky to have Itachi as her opponent, for, Itachi is a genjutsu God. But, i'm sure that there would've been few people that'd been able to oppose her genjutsu, and i'm sure that if she was born Uchiha, or managed to get her hands on at least one sharingan, not even necessarily two (similar to Kakashi or Danzo's situation) , her genjutsu skills would've been heightened even further.

Remember itachi was a prodigy and was a literal one in a million child with mangekyo. There was no way she would have known his mastery of genjutsu was that strong. Especially since she was used to fighting opponents who specialized in genjutsu and had dealt with uchia members before. Facing itachi was something she couldn’t have prepared for. He was a one of a kind shinobi.

I know people like to shit on the female characters for being underused and lacking development and screentime( and I can make a whole essay on to why that’s mostly a bullshit way of talking down to female characters when they do have their badass moments that are significant and how some male characters have it just as bad them).
But if they’re truly was a female character with potential who I think is the most underutilized and needed more development it’s sadly Kurenai. I mean, yes, she is pretty cool and she is the closest thing to a mother/sister figure for Hinata when she was at her lowest moment and she’s a master of genjutsu but other than that she’s mostly the cool woman who’s only character significance is her relationship with Asuma. There was a filler arc in the original that gave her a bit more depth but she seems like wasted potential to me and it is one of the instances where I agree with that argument the most.
