- The IT-1 in War Thunder is a Russian Tank Destroyer with a MASSIVE 180mm Missile designed to take out even the heaviest of Tanks. This is one of the best tanks in War Thunder HANDS DOWN.
The IT-1 ATGM has 500mm of penetration which in terms of more modern ATGM's isn't that impressive anymore. However, this sits at a modest battle rating 8.3 meaning there aren't many things that can take a direct hit. Include the fact War Thunder added Overpressure as a mechanic, no crew member is safe from this things 4kg of explosive mass.
The IT-1 is overpowered not because of just the ATGM. It can fire on the move at literally any speed all the way up to 50kph and it has enough armour to bounce shots from even the most powerful of cannons at its battle rating.
The low profile makes it extremely difficult to see or get an accurate shot on and on top of this, it's REALLY fast.
For the purpose of this video, I decided to pair it with one of War Thunders Rarest planes the Mig-15bis ISH! Armed with 8 S-1 rockets and a ballistic computer, it's super fun and effective at CAS, too!

Off topic but you should try Daimler MkII + Sea Hurrican MkI C combo - the Daimler is fun against Shermans and Panzer IVs and the Hurricane's 20mm got a buff so 38mm pen

IT-1 used to be the biggest pile of cancer in the game by far. It was utterly uncounterable as it would just sit behind rocks and you could not destroy the launcher itself, this thing pretty much made me quit the game for a year because it ruined every single one of my higher BR lineups (also the times when USSR and Germany were always on the same team and won pretty much 95% of their games)
That still is pretty much the case now. In semi-high tier, when Germany and USSR are in the same team, they usually win.

Wow, quitting the game because of ONE VEHICLE. Because you can't possibly play some other lineup, grind a different nation, or a play different BR bracket (low tier/fun tier, son); you can't even fathom such a concept. Just goin' all Eric Cartman: "Screw you guys, I'm goin' home!"
I remember when the IT-1 was introduced to the game, I nearly gave up playing as every time i spawned their seemed to be one aimed at me and i would die instantly. But now i understand it is just how this game goes, We are always waiting for "The next big thing"

I remember getting the Mig-15bis ISH shortly after it came out, and being massively disappointed since aiming the big rockets was almost impossible. It also suffered from a lot of bugs with the bombs and rockets (they wouldn't drop/fire where you aimed them, which made it even more difficult to hit anything.)

I remember having terrible experiences in SB against IT-1. I couldn't destroy the launcher and the vehicle base is pretty strong too. Very challenging for me to fight against with a Centurion Mk 3 (Rb).
it somehow escaped the slap with the nerfbat all other atgm carriers got that prevent firing on the move even when they could irl......

Having heavy tanks armour on an atgm carrier is quite nice

the fact the gunner view shows from the missiles pov, instead of the gunners optics, makes it even more overpowered
But gunner view is always from the Barrel/point of projectile, except for something like the USH or the Ontos
@@rettichdergeile9361 there are setting for "gunner optic view" and "gun boresight view", the game force you in "gunner optic view" in simulator mod

@@garmfield2977 probably because the khrizantema is a more new model, the it1 its and older model in the game and they didnt even bother to change it like the news ones and leave it like they first model it

It should also be noted that the missile of the IT-1 is modeled as Primary weapon and not as ammo and thus cannot be machine gunned. Meanwhile an empty Marder ATGM launcher is still ammo despite being empty and can overpressure kill the Marder.
Different tanks tbh should compare it to the german HOT this thing is honestly better in everyway
@@atilaabedi9561 I used the Marder as an example. I honestly don't care which nation to use for this. Point being, the ATGM of the IT-1 cannot be machine gunned, meanwhile pretty much all other ATGMs can be. This is inconsistent and total BS on Gajins part. Either they can be machine gunned or the don't. Pick one (Gajin).

AMX 30 is pretty good tank with its 400mm HEAT pen and also with many MGs and small 20mm autocannon. Its good in both War Thunder and World of Tanks.
Play the Shturm-S, that is a way a bigger challenge to go around with!

I love how this exists, but they wont even let the M60A2 carry more than a couple of ATGMs, and severely nerfed the M60A2's armour and HEAT round.
Ah another Russian tank that sits at a lower BR than it should. Make it 9.0, it will be fine. Doesn't have thermals you say? The Chieftain MBT line-up doesn't have thermals and only one has laser RF. Go figure. I have spent a lot of time in Britain 7.7 and 8.0 grinding the 8.3 amd 8.7. IT-1s are very difficult to kill even when you can see their hull. They just bounce your APDS. Now whenever I see an IT-1 in the kill feed, I just switch to BESH and wait for this shit to poke out.
I'd say expanding BRs would be best but we all know Gaijin's stance on BR decompression. If for some big miracle BRs were decompressed I think the IT1 should go up but not too far up, but other ATGM Carriers with light armor like say the Swingfire should go further down. Mainly cause of the introduction of APS. Also Gaijin pls add T55AMD-1 equivalents for other nations.
@@griggs8345 my question is what tank/vehicle that is equivalent with AMD-1? If it in realm of 8.0-9.0 then it will be AMAP-ADS on marder other than that it will be on top tier, the problem is not many nation implement APS on tanks yet, like US and germany uses trophy on abrams and leo2a7 and thats top tier

@@ryzkiguruh2942 I am not that well versed in mechanized vehicles but perhaps there may be a few prototypes that may have had APS and if not maybe add field modifications akin to the IS-2 (1944)'s mesh screens that disrupt ATGMS and heat shells? (*and also fix those as currently they don't actually protect against HEAT warheads)

My favorite Soviet 8.3 vehicle. Me and my friend are callig it "Fury Cake". It's fast, armored and really dangerous at almost any combat situation.

The 2 point looks honestly the best game mode currently. All the best matches you see are from twin cap.
It’s a fine game mode, but far too slow and encourages extreme trench warfare on certain maps. Capture points in battle should not be right next to each spawn, that only encourages defensive camping and entrenching.
So this thing was at the same be as the bmp-2m and that could fire on the move and fire 4 controlled misses at the same time with 1200mm of pen until the bmp was moved up because it's main gun got an upgrade (that is very op)

One thing I noticed is in the wall-e the 8.0 squadron vehicle for america is that even when reloading no atgm in the barrel and it can still die by getting hit in the barrel pretty messed up gaijin

This has to be one of the most broken vehicles in the game. Just got out of a match where I only died twice. Both deaths were different players in an IT-1. Couldn't see it at since it was almost completely behind cover. There is nothing you can do to counter it.

After having played the IT-1 I'am really struggling to find a reason to "upgrade" to the other russian ATGM carriers. I have one complaint with it, I often run out of ammo before I run out of enemies, gajun pls gief it 50 shots insteed of 15 >.>
