    For glass teaware I just use lemon juice (like, from actual lemons). put a little in, fill to the brim with water, put the lid on, let it sit for 20-30 minutes and rinse out with water/sponge/spout brush. never let me down so far.

    For anyone having trouble with their clay teapots. I once had a strange stain in a clay teapot. At first I thought it was patina, but it made my tea taste really bad and it was only on the lower half of the pot, so maybe it was some weird fungus growing because of my lazy cleaning. So what I did was simply put bicarb soda in the pot, topped it off with boiling water (it also starts bubbling with hotter water) and then just left it for about 30 min. After that everything was as good as new, no weird smell in the pot and the tea tasted perfectly again. Wiped it out with a clean cloth and that's it.
    I hope this helps someone :)
    Edit: Also I had a stain on a milky glass tea cup which would not go away. Toothpaste did the job!

    A little late to the viewing-party on this, but it popped off in my recommended and it was great; thanks, Celine 🙌🏼 It’s reassuring to know if you don’t rinse things properly or haven’t the time to spend doing it and forget when you go to use them again, that this can’t hurt you in any way; taste irrelevant, it’s the synthesised chemicals that make not rinsing properly scary with most commercial cleaners, so it was good to hear you tell us how these things are natural and therefore, not a substantial risk as with some of their counterparts 👍🏼👌🏼😁 Cheers, beaut 😘 PS. Your accent is ASMRish-type relaxing; anxiety-relief all by itself and the way you say, “sponge”, is completely fricken awesome 👌🏼😁

    Nice video and thanks for the tips! But I do have one comment: I am not too sure that I like the fact that you call other products that could be used for 'chemicals', since both bicarbonate of soda and citric acid are very much also chemicals (just like anything else here in this world). Though I guess that it is just the chemist in me that is complaining about that.

    • @Salaaran
      @Salaaran Před 6 lety +4

      I get her point, and I would totally agree. If there is a facile way to remove the stains, then why not use that instead? I would just like it if the term 'chemicals' wasn't used this way. Because it makes a lot of people, whom are not interested in chemistry , afraid of something they really shouldn't necessarily be afraid of. :)

    • @Blackmark52
      @Blackmark52 Před 6 lety +1

      Skovsen Skov 'chemicals'
      Their use of the word "chemicals" as a pejorative is not surprising, and not just because it is such a common misconception that chemicals are unnatural : Don is phobic about plastics, even to the point of a tea kettle having a plastic tab used to designate the maximum water level and so be likely to touch the water, being a negative point in a review of the kettle.

    Well it's getting worse as I explore your channel. Never thought I would ever leave such a mushy comment on YT but here we are: YOU BOTH are SO cute! :P
    There are some interesting Chinese tea sellers here in Paris but your passion is so infectious and stimulating that Mei Leaf Teahouse will be a necessary step next time I'm in London.
