One thing i noticed when America talk about Asians it's mainly focused on Chinese/Japanese/Korean etc but in the UK when talking about Asians it's mainly Indian/Bengali/Pakistani etc. Guess it all depends on perspective. different countries will define the same term i.e 'Asian' in different ways.
Makes sense since people of South Asian descent are the primary minority group in the UK.
@Viper 47 This shows how the term 'Asian' can be defined is so many different ways in different parts of the world.
I'm sure in Russia, Asian is primarily a Central Asian
Well.Indians are Asians since India Pakistan Bangladesh Are in Asia
Moonlitebliz
Probably because Chinese and Japanese have the oldest Asian history in the US. Chinese first came around the Gold Rush days, after 1849, and the first Japanese came around the 1880s. My Chinese ancestors came in the 1850s.

No hate, but many things can be improved. First when she's describing the dishes in the buffet, not everything is a curry. Many bases are different and have a particularity. Next, roti has to be highlighted more than naan (it's mentioned for a brief minute). What I don't like about videos like this, is that it's not as in-depth as the other fung bros videos, where they go into detail of Sichuan, Cheng-du, or other province based dishes. This video didn't even touch the variety of dishes of other parts of India like Goa, Punjab, Maharashtra, etc. People who aren't Indian will continue to think all Indian food is curry, which is highly inaccurate.
maybe bc she doesn't know herself?
@@ireneningpar1575 that could be, however, that means that many indian-americans don't know
Agreed with all of this, but I think she just isn't super well-versed in Indian culture/food. But can't fault Fung Bros for going for a CZcamsr collab b/c it's more popular mainstream
Tbh, this couldn’t be more true, thanks for mentioning it
this is so true anybody who has not been to india doesn't have any idea what actually is indian food
8:30 Definitely a US thing. In the UK when people say Asians they mean South Asians, India, Pakistan, those regions. The far East Asians are referred to as Orientals but we are very rarely considered when Asian is mentioned.
In the u.s. oriental is an old played out term. Most people dont use that word when referring to Asians unless they're like, 60+ years old.
Pervy Sage oriental is a pejorative term in America lol
@@mosesyi5523 why?
Okay. For the last time, you mix all the curries in rice and eat it with a naan. The curries are meant to be eaten with a naan or rice. Separate, no burrito shit. You can mix everything, sure but bread is eaten separately with the curries.
Or just eat it how they like lmfao tf is wrong with you
@@phungss because there is a certain way food is supposed to be eaten. It's certainly not an indictment against any specific person or practice. You can eat a burrito sideways, but most people will judge you for that, because it isn't supposed to be eaten that way.
There has been a certain gap in media maybe, in showing how Indians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshi etc eat their food. And I'm just telling people what's right, so 🤷🏻♂️
Lol glad im not the only one. If i took roti or naan and then made a burrito with rice, my mom would have slapped me

*My 2 fav in 1 video talking about my favorite food* 😍
it's a misconception that all Hindus are vegetarian..... we, north east India eat different kinds of meat like pork duck pigeon buff etc.... love meat💞
Yeah as a kokani I can tell I m Hindu but I eat chicken, Lamb, goat, pork, beef(not cow), I ate rabbit one time.
शिरीष ರಾಮಾಯ LoL but she wrote pigeon which I never heard of
Yeahhh... idk about duck/pigeon and beef but we do eat chicken/lamb/ sometimes pork/fish
@@pres4417 pigeon meat is popular in Assam...though we don't eat it often....
Indian food definitely has large amount of vegetarian options I have been vegetarian for 19 years (since I was born lol ) and other Asian countries not as much for me that’s huge difference between identification of Indian & Asian. But i would like to be called Asian.
I was veg for 12 years and mostly cooked Chinese and Mexican-inspired dishes. and then I discovered Vietnamese veg cuisine. So the options are there
Indian food looks soooo delicious. I ate at an India restaurant once (sadly there was no buffet) and I only had one dish because it was so expensive. I didn't eat there again. Not because it was bad (it was veeeery delicious and I love spicy food) but because one curry cost like a little over 11 euros (12 or 13 dollars) and I am not too well off that I can just eat one dish for 11 euros even though it doesn't seem too much. But I am happy because I heard a new India restaurant is opening soon in my city and I hope it has a buffet
Chrissi Harder for 11 euros you could buy all the spices and experiment yourself. The spices will last you forever and you can make Indian food everyday. Just CZcams the basic Indian spices / masala recipe.
I feel bad for u guys in U.S cuz most of the curries u are eating are prepared using the same base, so def no distinct flavor and authenticity there, every curry should have a different base and spices. U.K, on the other hand, has some of the most authentic version of Indian food outside India.
I agree. UK has the closest to authentic south asian cuisine outside of south asia. The standard butter chicken in the UK and US are vastly different. And I happen to prefer the UK version.
@शिरीष ರಾಮಾಯ you’re clueless
She's not the third Fungbro; she's the first Fungsis!
I feel like the asian/india question was just plain ignorant and awkward. Since when was there a debate on how India is not part of Asia? Could've been framed better
Its neither ignorant nor awkward. It's like asking if a Tunisian identifies as Arab or African. Of the friends I have, Egyptians tend to identify as African, while Algerians identify as Arab. It's a legitimate question that shows you're interested in getting to know and understand someone who has a different background than your own, and connect with them on a deeper, more sincere level.
@@yusrakriel156 That's fair, but I found the whole situation a depiction of how East Asians tend to disregard India as part of the Asian community which is truly sad because I'm very certain Indians identify as part of Asia.
Ah! I get it now, thank you.
Bro asia has 4 areas

Great video. Always good. Thank you.
the food looks wonderful but the sound mixing of this video is horrific.
Aye! Never expected this collab to happen. Love it!
It is sad that in most of the video about indian cuisine in usa only north indian cuisine is shown....south indian cuisine like telugu/tamil cuisine is a very rich cuisine and the food is the spiciest food in india and very tasty the unique thing which is great about south indian cuisine is that the food is served on a banana leaf, so you have To eat with your hands directly on that leaf which is healthy of course!!
Hi Fung Brothers, I always love to watch this video
this video's vibe is different than the other videos. It's more calm, more low key, not much noise as the other videos you guys have.

Naan bread are found in China too. In the Xinjiang region where the Uyghur and other Turkic people live.
supratrd900 naan is everywhere in China. just different names with different flavour
The Chinese government is re-educating that out of the Uygurs
The Chinese onion pancake is quite different from naan, cooked differently too (not a close comparison). I agree, the closest resemblance to southeast Asian naan is naan/Uyghur bread from the autonomous region in China, Xinjiang, which is cooked in a tandoor oven too, but the bread is thick and dense in texture and sometimes has decorative patterns, topped with sesame seeds or onion or other spices. Although, the Uyghur/Turkic people are a part of China, they are not ethnically Han Chinese.
@@wctoronto Yes Uyghur/Kazakh/Tatar/Kyrgyz are Turkic and the Tajik (Pamiri) of Xinjiang are Iranians. Well just like every other 55 minorities who are not Han. Never said they were Han. Naan bread came from the Persian i believe.
supratrd900 Wasn’t implying that you referred to the minority ethnic groups as Han Chinese. I knew you weren’t. Only making a general statement. I was in agreement, not disagreement.
I love Indian food. Too many dishes to name, but I need to have garlic naan everytime
When Andrew made the "Great Wall" in his plate it reminded me a lot of a way of eating very popular in Ecuador. We make "banderas" which translate to "flags" and it consists of putting around three different typical dishes in one plate, like someone does on a buffet but not really hahaha.
My favorite Indian dish is Aloo Gobi. Don't sleep on it. It's fire!
Indian food is cool 👍👍

India is not HINDI BREAD And Butter chicken.. its cliched food accept by developed countries and westerners ..TRY OUT south Indian food in the US.. Its much wholesome and healthy..Try to go out with the South Indian Tamil Telugu speaking American
You are very right. Nothing is authentic in any of these so called North Indian food. On top of that Rajasthan and Bihar are both part of North India, but completely different style of food. So when people say North Indian food it is not logical at all. I wished there was Rajasthani restaurants, Punjabi Restaurants, Gujarati Restaurants, or Bihari Restaurants. South Asia has such a rich culture, I really don't know whether we are showcasing it well to the world.
For Americans India starts at Delhi 's chandni chowk & ends in mumbai 's dharavi. So you can't expect them to have south Indian food .
I mean, don't be so pissed that north indian food is more famous than south indian.
Yes you are totally right!
@@sadanandapatel6123 Well perhaps there are more north indian than south indian in usa, thats why.....
Anyone who says that South Asians should be content with Bollywood or Tollywood or whatever, I think that's bullshit. I don't feel represented in those movies as they have skewed whiter and whiter with every passing year to the point that the majority of the background dancers are Uzbeki women or white women from the UK and US who just "love the culture!" where actual Indians with darker skin and actual Indian features aren't even allowed to be in the background.
She 🔥and so is Indian food

Definitely agree that South Asian people aren't included as much majority of the time, when discussions about Asians are made in America, whereas in the UK, people often refer to Asians as South Asians and not so much East/North Asians. But at the end of the day, we are all Asian brothers and sisters from the multi-ethnic, wonderfully diverse continent of Asia

Rice is not the base. You start with sabji and naan/roti and then proceed with rice and daal at the end. People also eat rice with some sabjis like chana masala and moong sabji. And side by side you also have fried dishes like samosas and pakodas (fritters).
Rice is absolutely the base, as well as breads like naan, roti, paratha, puri, etc. It's not normal to have rice and breads in the same meal.
@@EliteXtasy A full Indian meal comprises of Sabji, Roti, Daal, Rice, Sweets and sides. Rice is not the base.
Sorry absolutely not. Rice is always the base at an Indian buffet, and at home in certain parts of India
@elite depends on the region. I’m from the east coast (but grew up in Canada) and was surprised to find that In some regions, rice and flatbreads together is actually very common

Indian food at 99% of indians restaurants is underwhelming in contrast to what you find at Indian households.
Yeah, it’s true. I think Indian restaurants are afraid of just being themselves. They try too hard to cater to the masses, thus create a more bland version of what Indian food actually should be. I know others ethnicities and their restaurants also deal with this issue. It is what it is I suppose.
True ... it's also often too heavy and _masaladaar_
Indian food is really good, in my opinion. I like it a lot.

U did a buffet video without dessert , Way to go bro !
Rice is used as a base in southern Indian and most the curries are there goes well with the rice but In North India curries have lots of variety and we mostly use Roti/Naam/or other flat breads whereas rice mostly goes with dal, rajma or some more soupy curry
My Michelle, wow!
Seeing a Mexican dude cooking Indian food is so cool to see haha
When you go to Indian buffet make sure you try ti mix the difference curry gravies.. they would be 4 to 7 type of curry in indian buffet.
