OK re: banana ice cream. You were just shy of blending it to make it magical. Here's what happens when you make it: it starts off looking kinda rough and you're like "where this this going, it's never gonna get there" and that's where you gave up. BUT if you let it go just a bit longer, it'll turn way smoother and nicer. Just have faith that if you keep blending, it'll hit this magic point where it turns.

Fruitarians eat whenever they are hungry and stop when they are full. Counting calories is not necessary! Vegetables are also not necessary. Humans are fruitarians like primates not vegetarians like cows and horses and elephants. Humans can eat some vegetables, but they take much more energy to break down and digest and should NOT be eaten in combination with fruit as it can cause digestion issues like gas etc. As far as her buzzing head, I would guess she was experiencing mild detox symptoms. Anyone going from a standard American diet (or even a standard vegetarian diet) to eating 100% fruit, will most likely experience mild to extreme detox symptoms. Fruit is a natural astringent that pulls out toxins in the body while nourishing our cells and alkalizing our bodies (lowers inflammation aka acidosis). This is why so many people have been known to cure fatal illnesses on a fruit based diet! Late reply but I hope this helps!

I really admire Michelle's respectful attitude and am glad she enjoyed the week but...fruitarianism is extremely difficult to get right. *And I say this as someone who eats a vegan diet*. The chances of you getting enough calcium, iodine, selenium and the necessary amino acids on a fruitarian diet is very slim unless you are really careful about it. Not to mention, it is far too expensive and wasteful for most people. I sort of wish it wasn't conflated with veganism because it makes people think veganism is more restrictive than it is. Eat a varied, cooked vegan diet with lots of whole grains, vegetables, fruit and legumes, some processed foods here and there, supplement for B12 and you'll be good.

I can never stress this enough: YOU DONT NEED MEAT TO GET PROTEIN!!! Our society is way too focused on protein and we consume much more than our actual daily needs. A normal person needs like 50g of protein per day. Good luck getting a deficiency, because that is very rare. Here are the 10 fruits highest in protein. If you eat enough fruits everyday (like fruitarians), you'll inevitably get enough protein for the day: thewww.healthaliciousness.com/articles/fruits-high-in-protein.php
Other than that, I love this video and the optimist attitude you had from the start, compared to all of the Buzzfeed videos in which people are complaining, disgusted or comparing with meat (instead of appreciating the new flavor) from the start

Julie Daignault I do agree on you with that you don't need meat. But a quick glance on that article shows you can't get all your protein without exceeding you caloric needs. You definitly need beans in your diet if you're vegan. The fruitarian diet is completely based on pseudo science.

Fruitarian is healthier than the American diet but it by no means allows you to get all the nutrients you need.

ok guys, I'm not a fruitarian, I'm vegetarian (so I eat vegetables, nuts, beans, etc.) and I'm definitely not an expert in this field. I didn't mean to say that being a fruitarian is an ideal diet, nor am I saying that it isn't because I don't know enough information about it. All I meant to say is that most people don't know you can get a lot of protein from fruits, not just in meat. If your diet is well balanced and if you inform yourself before turning to fruitarianism, I'm sure there is a way you can get all the nutrients you need in a day, even if you work out like Michelle. I'm not here to argue with people and I'm sorry if I made it look like I fully supported this diet. I'm not informed enough to say it's a good or bad diet.

I live in Siberia and it's impossible to live without meat. Protein is an essential for keeping our bodies warm and when it's cold all you want is food. Like we have fruits and vegetables but it's usually from Turkey or Morocco etc. These are full of chemicals and probably have no vitamins left because no organic products would survive a trip from Turkey to Siberia. And exotic fruits like mango, guava, lychee etc cost an arm and leg. And how am I supposed to have a balanced diet without meat? Oh and I'm allergic to fish. No hate to vegetarians, I really wanna be one of you one day, but I just wanted to let you know that not all of us are lucky to have nice fruits and veggies all year round

No added salt into my corn, and no coffee or other drinks expect water. I stopped 2 days ago and I saw myself improve because of the diet. My acne has surprisingly gone down and I've been less bloated. It was pretty easy for me since I've been constantly busy this past week and so I didn't have too much of a chance to think about cravings or other food. It's honestly a good diet to try. It just eliminates lots of healthy and cheap foods like lentils, beans, nuts, avocado, rice and potatoes for no reason..
I would love if you'd try a normal vegan diet, or even a vegan diet for athletes! It would show how delicious and nutritious and "normal "vegan diets can be. Veganism is not limited to just eating fruit.

The thing that people don't understand about this type of diet is that you can eat much more of these foods than you can on a typical American diet and actually consume fewer calories. You should never feel hungry! Many people believe that they can't eat a raw vegan diet because they see the prices at their local grocery stores. As you see you can find these foods for mcuch less but you have to look for the right places to find them in bulk. Unfortunately for people that live in the Northern part of the US it is much more difficult. Don't be surprised if you decide to make this your new diet rather than just for one week Michelle!

I seen persimmons in the video and I just wanted to say that they are actually pretty good. I got some the other day and they tasted very sweet like marshmallows. They kind of reminded me of tomatoes mixed with a very ripe mango texture wise.

Venus and Serena Williams are both raw vegans/ mostly fruitarian during the season so I think it’s possible to get all necessary nutrients! It’s all about eating what’s right for you and being mindful

Cool video! It was interesting to see some of the stuff they made, but I can't imagine this is sustainable/feasible for a number of reasons.
1- Like you mentioned, depending on your workout I'm not sure you're getting enough fat/protein (particularly certain amino acids) WITHOUT relying on a bunch of supplements. At which point, is that really 'healthy' or 'nutritious' if you can't sustain it without a bunch of support? Obviously everyone's needs will be little different depending on lifestyle, but if you're missing whole blocks of necessary nutrients, is it really 'natural' for your body?
2- This type of diet works AWESOME for someone who is in LA or another major produce hub and has the resources to access a large variety of fruits to insure nutrient needs are being met, but in a lot of places in the country this is not only expensive, it's not even feasible. I live in NYC, and even if I've seen half the stuff pictured, it's not nearly as vibrant or fresh as you were getting, nor can I imagine it's probably as cheap. I can't imagine trying to get durian in like, Iowa or somewhere very central. Not to mention someone who doesn't have the flexibility to be constantly going grocery shopping or is available during farmer's market hours.
I'm curious about Keto, maybe giving that a try?

kristenamaezing hey just wondering what exactly would be missing from the diet ? (Nutrients) ? The only supplement that should be taken , by everyone no matter what your current diet is , is b12 . If you are eating the right amount of plant based foods it's more than likely you are getting everything you need . Without "fats" which I'm assuming you were referring to animal byproduct . Yuck ..

Essential amino acids. You can NOT get all of those fully from purely fruit/veggie based sources. You can't. And the few you can are either not enough, or incomplete. And these are things your body does not make on it's own. You have to consume them somehow- hence my confusion of how RAW fruitarian is a healthy/natural way to eat when you'd have to supplement a whole section of your body's essential needs.
Now, you can get them in a vegan diet if you eat certain food combos (you're looking for complete proteins like beans and grain which, surprise surprise, need to be cooked)- but purely fruitarian? They just don't exist. The best sources are meat, fish, and eggs- which coincidentally is also one of the best sources of B12. I'm not vegan, so that's not a problem for me. If you are, definitely look up complete proteins and make sure they're included in your diet.

kristenamaezing "complete" proteins and "complete" amino acids aren't actually a thing . I recommend doing more research .

    • @fallonstone2080
      @fallonstone2080 Před 6 lety +1

kristenamaezing and the best sources are not from meat for anything . Meat is harmful to your body , especially how it's consumed in a standard American diet . B12 is a vitamin everyone should be taking . So again , do more research .

I was high raw vegan for several months to counteract severe body inflammation. I went from taking 2-6 Aleve a day to sometimes 0 a day, never more than 2. After my surgery I went just vegan because I didn’t have inflammation anymore. But I’ll always be grateful for how the high raw vegan diet helped me. I’m vegetarian now but I would like to return to a plant-based diet again. I’m returning to Canada in July so I’ll start again then :)

The easiest way to define the difference between fruits and vegetables is whether you eat something that you pick of a plant (a fruit) or whether you eat the entire plant (vegetable).

THANK YOU FOR ACTUALLY TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY 👏🏼 I love that you had Robbie help you through the process. Personally the fruitarian diet doesn’t work for me long term, but I appreciate the effort you put into this and the message behind it.
I hope more “buzzfeeders” take vegan food challenges like this more seriously in the future, instead of jumping in head first not know what they’re doing, and giving veganism a bad name.

What farmers market did you go and la wholesalers? Ive been trying to go fruitarian, but is so expensive lol specially trying to eat organic. ALSO IF YOU GO TO CRONOMETER, YOU CAN LIST ALL THE FOOD YOU ATE AND YOULL SEE HOW MUCH VITAMINS YOU CONSUMED, I'M SURE FOR THE FRUITS YOU WOULD'VE FOUND HOW MUCH PROTEIN YOU INTAKE.

If you leave the bananas to thaw for 15-30 minutes, it will be an ice-cream consistency! Cacao powder and peanut butter make it sooooo good! (for anyone wanting to try that recipe). go crazy with toppings! It's like a healthy froyo!
