Mr Joe knows when NOT to play. And when he does,....he does. Miss Joanne ain't too shabby either. Great performance.
Perfect description. 100%
She was waaay better before Joe Blow got involved
Two superb performers taking it to the limit. In my 72 years, I have heard several shiploads of blues, beginning with my Daddy playing that trumpet when I was but an infant. This is right there. I could not have wanted it any better.
Right with you in age and heart! Smooooth!😎
This song’s melody deserves to be left alone. Joe’s job is great as usual.
My favorite Janis Joplin song. But when I came across Joeann Shaw play it .I never heard a better version.I hope you play peace of my heart .Your guitar 🎸 is absolutely amazing.
Miss Joanne is tremendous and no need to say that Joe is a killer guitar performer. Thanks to both of them and all the band
Lawd have mercy! Preach it to me sister!!!! Phew... Dang she's gooooood.
Wow. She killed this tune! Nice job!!!
WOW! Clicked on this for Joe B. HOWEVER…… Joanne Shaw Taylor, I’m your new number ONE fan! What a fantastic voice!
She was waaay better before Joe Blow got involved
@@davidpaul6656 Well does she got 25 number 1 Billboard albums in a row?
I hate to say it,I've missed out on a lot of music the past 10 yrs.,doing time in county, i felt the blues more everyday, making bed space for sam.now I know what Johnny cash was all about in the Fulton Co.Jail.Music is freedom, enjoy it every moment.Remeber someone.went without tje great American musical experience!Voodoo Chile was a boy they knew was something to sing about.Jimmy Hendrix, his little nany nottle.full of P2P,Janice Joplin,Iggy Pop,tjey were always rhere to entertain people who believed in them. They were young just like her, pure talent!!!
The sweet sounds of the Blues😎
Just Awesome !
Nothing like a female shredder that can sing as well . Awesome song
She sure has settled in her niche. Gosh she really has a fine voice. Her guitar is sweet! Go girl proud of you.
You just can’t say too many good things about this tune. She’s got such a great band and they’re very tight! Having Mr.Bonamassa certainly doesn’t hurt any, does it?
She is blues ,rock Star long time.
Saw this gorgeous and talented lady with the Allman Family Revival last year. WHOA!!
What a voice, beautiful.
The look on the backing singers voice during Joe's solo says it all ♥️
Ecstasy
@@Alexander-dt8sk You're wrong, she's just hungry (3:39), I suppose ;)
Yeah right Ha haha hahahaha haHa HAHA 😂
Rare for a CZcams video to put me in the "I wouldn't want to be anywhere in the world but right here right now" mindset.
Janis Joplin is up there smiling 💙💙💙
And Cole Porter.
@@colerainfan1143 Why would Cole Porter be smiling? The song was written by George Gershwin.
Yes she is!!!!!!🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
🇺🇸😎
@@donaldsaigh8785Nobody knows the original haha
@@jaywarner2029 The original is the most covered song of all time. There are over 75000 known recordings. It gets played at the Metropolitan Opera house and other opera houses throughout the world whenever a production of 'Porgy and Bess' is mounted. Don't assume everyone is an ignorant as you are.
Anytime Joanne Shaw Taylor and Joe Bonamassa collaborate is a good time!
WOW
She plays with Authority …
Rock Solid .
Proper is Proper !
Bravo
Now THAT IS DA’ BLUES!!!!!! Saw Joe in ‘17….now, at 81 and a rocker since forever….how can it get any better!!!!!!???? Rockin’ the Blues! 😎🤟❤️🇺🇸

Amazing.
The tone of her guitar is beautiful. Her voice is magnificant. She is a beast for us blues lovers. I look forward to many years listening to her!
Janis Joplin and Cheap Trills Compagnie. Yeah Miss Joanne Shaw Taylor. Sublime. From France 🇫🇷
Happy to be here ...hearing this prodige all together " ...!!!
Oh my! Mesmerizing! Love that voice! And that tele! Take me away!
When i was 22 in Vancouver at Sir Walter Raleigh Room as a waiter, we had a Japanese pianist who would played this and one of the patrons, a young Jewish lady of larger proportions would get up and sing this with such amazing voice that i have always loved the song whenever i have heard it and will always remember her incredible performance
One he'll of a guitar player 😎💯
Great blues. Love it! Joanne and Joe together. Sounds beautiful.
Try listening to joe and Beth Hart you will love it even more trust in that!
Some people say the greatest blues sounds come when feet press against the wall during deuce dropping for leverage, but only if the water is blue to begin with.
Joanne was waaaaay better before Joe Blow got involved
"Damn right we got the blues."
Two words ...Just GREAT‼️
Really nice! ❤Joanne is a natural....relaxed and bluesy. Melancholy voice.
SIMPLY AMAZING !......WHAT A VOICE !....KUDOS JOANNE!
Listen to her for the first time ,and I am very happy I did !!!!!

Wonderful song. Fabulous Vocals. Awesome guitar play. Beautifully done my music friends. May peace be with you always..
Amazing version, thank you the artists!
Fabulous! You can feel the humidity!
Doesn’t get any better than this 🎶🎶🎶
First time I had ever heard of Joanne Shaw Taylor she was playing The Corner Hotel in Melbourne Australia and blew us away. Oh yeah! She was supporting Joe Bonamassa! What a great night.
what a voice and what a soul spirit. I can't see it in every movement
She's killing this classic!🙉🙉
Joanne's voice & playing gets right under your skin, the Jeff Beck effect. ❤️😊🎸🎶🏴
That introductory lick is for sure a mind blowing one - and then her singing!!
1st heard this song( Doc & Merle Watson ) in Johnson City, Tn in 70’s. Beautiful song can be played across many genres. Who would ever think a show tune from 1930’s would, could be this good. Love this version !!
Waooooo, I got goosebumps. Excellent version.👏🙌👍
Having seen Joanne live the last one being live in Cambridge then came lockdown and having met Joanne along with her music and personality a delightful artist😎😎
Joanne is a master at opening that gorgeous rendition and giving alluring melodic solos while Joe shows his skill at creating a flare that sings and cries!
So good to see Joanne using her wonderful voice to such good effect. Janis Joplin's version will always be my favourite, but that was then and this is now. Joanne is one of the best guitarists around and good to see that Joe has got her back.
Have you seen the video of Joss Stone doing Janis Joplin’s version of ‘A Piece of My Heart’? (Joss does another great rendition of Adele singing ‘I Put a Spell on You’!) Joss’s take on it is what I consider a better comparison to her than this one. However I absolutely love this one too by Joanne, along with many of her others! Joe B. never fails to astound me with his talent (close to that of B. B. King) too, whether alone or doing a duet with someone else!
@@elainemeyer5062 Yes, Joss is another favourite (for many reasons!) and underappreciated, especially lacking in videos on youtube. I won't try and compere one good singer with another. Beth Hart is top of my charts but don't think she's done a version of this, I may be wrong.
@@chrispy865 We must have the same taste in music! Beth Hart is also one of my favorite, fairly unknown, very talented vocalists! Have you seen the video of her and Joe B. doing ‘I’ll Take Care of You’? This is THE sexiest song/video I’ve ever seen - so far! Beth and Joe have many other videos and entire concerts on YT if you’re interested. I’m not 100% positive, but I think Joss did do Summertime and I found it on YT. BTW: The version of the video I was referring to is the one of Joe and Beth, Live at the Beacon Theater in NYC.
@@elainemeyer5062 I've spent far too many hours on youtube searching Beth and Joe vids, and pretty sure I've seen all and own several of their dvd's and most cd's. My vote however goes to Rather go Blind in Amsterdam, all time favourite after Chicken Shacks 1968 version. So many of my current favourites are women. Beth, JST, Janis, Joss, Imelda May, Larkin Poe, they are all taking music to new and exciting places, and at my advanced age I never thought good music would still be available after the dreadful mainstream dross that seems to have been around the past decade or so.
@@chrispy865 For Chris, I don’t know what you consider as being an ‘advanced’ age, but I’m 67 yrs old and put myself in that category. I was trained as a classical pianist and organist since I was 5, but haven’t been able to play any longer (for a number of years) due to arthritis in my hands and fingers. I enjoy all genres of music (except for rap, which isn’t imo!) and listen from morning till night. Also, I won’t listen to anyone who doesn’t have what I consider to be talent, and AGREE WITH YOU 100% about the awful ‘mainstream’ music that’s around now and has been for a while. I too like the concert with Beth and Joe in Amsterdam the most. I will admit that I’m not familiar with two of the others you mentioned - I will definitely check them out though. It’s a shame that there are so many under appreciated, and very talented musicians that truly deserve more credit and recognition than they have. You said you mostly prefer females, but there are quite a number of male musicians that I feel are just as talented - quite possibly in a different way or reason. I have always been a huge fan of Elton John and Eric Clapton, and having grown up with their music, feel they’ve gotten better with age. (I saw EJ about 5 months ago and bought tic’s for his next final ‘Farewell’ concert this month - the same one but @ a different venue and this time with floor seats, and also for Clapton in Sept.) I searched for the female artists we both like, and was only able to find a concert by JST this fall near me. (I’m going to see Alicia Keys next month too, who you didn’t mention - she did what I consider was a beautiful 2-song duet with John Mayer from Times Square ‘many’ years ago that was very moving and well done by both.) There are others who’s music I can either like or dislike, depending on the song and style of playing/singing. Not knowing what other music you like, I’m very fond of the 2 Cellos (plus Luca/Luka? and Hauser on their own), Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Derek Trucks and, of course, solo pianists and other instrumentalists (both classical music and interpretations on more contemporary songs). I’ve kept you long enough with my verbosity and apologize if you found reading my comment boring!
I'm sure I'll feel the warmth of summer when I hear this piece of art even in the cold of winter
Just awesome!
I love this so much, what a voice JST has....perfect Friday night Blues 🌙 😎❤
Her riffs are so tasteful and he complements the song very well, can't stop listening to it!
Wowser, what a song, what a singer, what a player and Joe as well, perfection personified
What a voice! Beautiful indeed!
Awesome performance. Right up there with the best.
Magnificent version of my favourite classic blues
One of the top versions of Summertime. What a pleasing voice and clever use of the air.
Très très bonne observation..👍
Love this song, and an amazing rendition.🎉❤
Just beautiful!!
All kudos to Joanne, great version, with a Master Guitarist

Awesome versão of that Classic...very beautifully arranjed.
Genius version!!! Great voice Miss Joanne!! And Joe's guitar sound!!! 🎸💙
Absolutely amazing
Add another ten minutes! All the vocals, so warm
Two great musicians playing one of my favorite songs together, and doing a beautiful job at it! This song by Gershwin (from the musical Porgy and Bess) was one of my most frequently played songs on the piano, when I wasn’t practicing my classical music (I learned this one on my own time), and whenever I hear it I think back to the many years ago when I first learned how to play it (more than 50 years ago!). I can almost picture the ‘deep South’ many years ago when there were large plantations, and the black slaves were working on the cotton fields in the heat of the summer, while the women sipped drinks and talked on the patio, as their husbands were out fishing. Her gritty, raspy and sexy voice in combination with Joe’s dramatic guitar playing adds so much visualization ability to this rendition, imo. Such emotion from both, vocal and instrumental - you can almost feel or picture that you were living during those times! It’s one thing to learn how to read notes and play them on an instrument, or vocalize them, but that doesn’t make them ‘true’ artists in the real sense of the word - that can only be achieved when it’s done with inner feeling and emotion (no matter what type of instrument they play, or the vocals they sing). Having been trained as a classical pianist and organist since I was 5, 62 years ago), I learned at a very young age that this is the biggest difference between playing music and ‘making’ music come to life! These two are perfect examples of what I mean - it’s so noticeable when watching them play this, and other duets together! *** BTW: I’ve always been able to express myself when I played, and never cared about what people thought when they watched me, and this being said, I have to say that Joe looks like he should have been in the ‘Godfather’. The way he’s always dressed in black, with sunglasses, in addition to his expressions while playing! (but that’s just the way he’s able to feel the music he is). Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t matter to me in the least, and all that does is his talent, but it’s just an observation on my part!
You are the best
@@kleoutsa1 Thanks for your kind reply! I now have tickets to see JST next month, which I didn’t have when I wrote the original email, and am looking forward to seeing her live!
@@elainemeyer5062 One thing. 'Porgy and Bess' is America's first great opera, it's not a musical.
What a version! By first seconds is not easy to take, but little later makes happy! Thanks!
This blows my mind, in every good way possible.
Her smile is priceless! Her voice is buttery smooth! Her guitar playing is perfect blues!
Wow!! These great’s together. 👏🏼👌🏼
I don’t think I will ever get tired from listening that piece of art. Estupendo 👏👍🎉🎶🎼
What a beautiful voice you have Joanne! Also like your Telecaster and the notes you played! Awesome!
Saw Joanne in a pub called The Top Bell, Barton under Neenwood, Burton on Trent in the early 2000's.prior to touring Germany. Brilliant then, brilliant now !!

Wow superb. Hats off to the sound crew
Never saw her before this, great blues nice voice I like her.
What a great collaboration! I enjoyed the mix of smoothness and rawness as I would describe it and that "crunchy" finish was something else.....
Amazing performance!!
